Hey thanks for sharing !! But, I went broke with my 4 wheel Dodge dully. I got a lemon I guess. I love a Dodge dully and may buy another one some day. I had injector problems , computer problems fuel injector lines, wiring harness problems other than that it was a great truck. Oh I forgot to tell you it was used and had 50,000 miles on it when I got it. I only put 100,000 more miles on it before it started breaking down. The first time it broke down was in Needles California pulling a 24,000 lb fithwheel camper, lol . The tow bill was terrible. Need less to say I am not pulling for clasic transport pulling campers, lol Greetings from Galveston Texas. God bless you and be careful out there
As far as Ford locking hubs go, there is only two options....Auto & Full Lock. There is no way to turn them off/disengaged all the way off. I leave mine in Auto, and the moment you put the power to them, they lock in. As far as the Dodge 68rfe.....It’s just a garbage design! The way that they channel the fluid thru the casting, they can’t transfer the fluid fast enough to keep the clutches from slipping. So even if you put the best parts in it that money can buy, your still going to get premature clutch wear. The best advice is do not delete and tune it, and do you fluid & filter changes religiously! I’m a Cummins guy, so I respect your choice. But I ended up with a Ford. 🤦🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️👍🏼
You can actually disengage the hub engagement under the hood. By unplugging one connection. Do it all the time. Works slick when you don't need 4x4 but want to use low range with the shift on the fly T-case.
I pull trailers from Indiana back to canada. I have a dodge Cummins and a new 2018 gmc 2500 gas. The gas truck uses 10 gallons more then my diesel a day. Gas I 1.00 a gallon cheaper to buy diesel now and oil changes ect ect is more to run a diesel then gas. Gas truck pulls a trailer just as good as my diesel truck. My cummins averaged 11.50 miles loaded and gas averaged 10.20. That's hand calculated.
What tow speed do you do? 65mph? And the mega cab doesn't drop but a few hundred pounds on towing. I have a 2018 brochure at home and will double check.
I've been thinking of the slide in camper myself. But what kind of hitch setup would you use so you could tow the most loads, like keeping your options open?
Keep watching. I ran with the camper for a very short time. It killed my fuel mileage so badly that it wasn't worth it. Now the dumb thing just sits in my yard.
@@act2.533 ok, but WHAT IF...you pulled a stepdeck as your trailer, a long one, and used the raised portion for the slide in, with the cabover over the upper deck? And would it make a difference if you used one of those Freightliner M2 medium duty class 6s to pull it? Already have a CDL.

Automatic locking hubs (on all makes of trucks) are notoriously weak when compared to manual locking hubs. Just playing in the mud and on the hills, I've destroyed auto-hubs. I've HAMMERED my Ford F250 with manual hubs and never broken one yet.
If you are off roading, sure, but then you are building an axle to run 40's anyway and your only gunna run warn hubs. For a 90% pavement rig, manual hubs are just dumb.
@@act2.533 OK. Watch your video again. You said Ford is behind the times because they still have manual hubs on their four wheel drives. Ford put automatic hubs in their HD trucks back in 1995 - 1999 and had nothing but headaches with them. People would break them all the time. I had a 99 model F350 and I broke 2 automatic hubs, and I wasn't "offroading" in the sense of "mudding", No 40s and no Warn hubs - my truck was totally stock. I used to haul a lot of cattle and other livestock. Sometimes I would have to drive through pastures to deliver the animals to where the new owner wanted them. On 2 occasions, I broke an automatic hub because I had to go through some rough patches. (Nothing like hammering the snot out of it like mudders.) Anyway, after I replaced the auto-hubs with manual hubs, I never broke another one. Was it inconvenient? Yes, but not as inconvenient as having to have someone pull my truck out because it suddenly turned into a 2 wheel drive.

Gas trucks would be difficult to get auxiliary tanks. Different types of rules for containment and DOT. Diesel is easy to add 100 gallons and you can wait to buy fuel where it's cheap, and fewer stops.
With the oil change being 3 gallons on a diesel it would be best to buy a 55 gallon drum for oil changes. Sounds crazy but that is what I would do.
It's only a few bucks cheaper, then I would have to store the drum, and buy a transfer pump to get the oil out of the drum.
