My husband took the back seat and the front passenger seat out. Ran his bed along the right side of the truck, so he could stretch out. The space behind the drivers seat is all storage. Works great. Just an idea for you
Thanks I was thinking about that but I think for now I’m going to leave the seat but I’m thinking hard about taking the back seat out. Thanks for the information and watching

I'm heavily looking into starting to do RV transport to build myself up to running my own hotshot trucking business. I really appreciate the information you shared in this video. I drive a semi and been wanting to haul RV’s
@@steventucker4724 I done the same. Hope my videos help
You’re right about the fuel tank investment. We paid for ours in about 4 months in what we saved on fuel. Air bags do make a big difference and I wouldn’t do this with out them.
You are right Thanks for watching be safe
Really good video! Thank you for posting all that information. Can you post a link for the rear toolbox by the tailgate please I'm having trouble finding one.
I do not have a link for that.. I got mine at Dans in Elkhart Indiana..
Real good video bud. A ton of good information for new guys to help get them started. Yeah my tags run out in January too….. I think here in Tennessee they are $542 best I remember. Hey btw…..
Don’t know if you use any kind of a seat cushion in your driver seat or not but I bought one of those Purple brand cushions at Loves and Man that thing is awesome. We had bought one of that same brand mattress for our bed at home and I knew how good it was so I took a chance on it and they take out a lot of impact. Calls about the second or third day on the road my back would be killing me but I’m on my fourth Street day on it and it feels great. Just thought I’d throw that out there to you. Again man I know they’re great video be safe bud
Thanks for watching and I was thinking about trying one them purple seat cushions. Thanks for the info on that. Do you remember how much it was? Sometimes I stay out two and three weeks before going home and my back gets a good workout
@@mr.tennessee The smaller one was like $54 and that’s the one I bought the larger one is 99 but I think it will be too big for a regular pick up truck seat. They come with a real good I guess you would call it a pillowcase that zips up and it has a nonskid bottom on it and it lays right where you put it it don’t slide around when you get in or out of the truck. It did make me feel like I was setting up too high when I first got it but after adjusting on my seat a little bit and drove it for a couple hours I got used to it and now I’m glad I bought it
@@briananderson1505 Thanks for the info I may have a tried out but that is good information for anybody that have a back problem. Thanks again bud and be safe

just wanted to say thanks for the detailed video you helped me more than anyone has with this video im just now bout to start havent got my truck yet but its coming. one question i have to ask was it hard to get loads without a cdl.
Thank you for watching and I’m glad it helped. Well when they have a lot of loads it’s not but when it gets slow it can be.
Hey enjoyed your video. C farmer referred me to your video. I am getting back into the business. Accualy going on with Jimbo and company out of Goshen Indiana. They transport enclosed trailers and gooseneck trailers. I believe there CDL A loads pay $2.00+a mile
Thanks for subscribe. CFramer worked with them before he came to Indiana Transport. Thanks for watching. You can ask him about them if you need to know anything. What co. did you work for before?
If I had an auxiliary fuel tank with a pump I would also put a gravity feed like your tank has for just in case the pump goes out
Heck yeah that would work

I'm gonna bring a comment over to this video to try to help the RUclips algorithm. Yea ill keep you up to date on how things progress with horizon, they've been very helpful so far. I'm going Monday to get my physical. send in stuff get insurance etc. Truck wise its lookin like ill be in a used 21 ram that I'm going to look at Tuesday when it gets to my buddies car lot he works at.
Hell yeah keep us up to date. And let us know on your truck
@@mr.tennessee will do. Like I said itll be here Tuesday supposedly. It is damaged (which I don't think I mentioned before), what I'm told it looks like a pole fell on the bed and cought the corner of the top of the cab and had under 1000 miles. Truck should be a excellent price after fixed, especially considering the market currently. It is a laramie so its a pretty damn nice truck. Idk if its a 2500 or 3500 honestly or the bed length. He didn't remember bc he buys so many vehicles. Either way he knows it is a cummins as he will only bid and buy diesel 2500 and 3500 trucks. Ill keep up with updates and thanks for the videos, it really does help us thats getting into the industry.

For the iPhone users, Haulin Paws talks about how to lock the phone out and hand it to the DOT fella and all they can see is the app that you’re showing them, no access to the rest of the phone. Works for kids too 😂
Yeah I think all phones should be able to do that
Great info man, could you show how you have your rock guard mounted
I can put it in a video if you want but I didn’t put them on I had mine put out at Dan’s. Because they have to be a certain height and all that good stuff depending on what company you go with

Thanks for the info Sir. Is your 5th wheel hitch a slider since you have a short bed? If so you are still able to have the tool box at the end?
I do not have a slider and I do have a toolbox at the end.
what do you mean have your truck DOT ed ? I live in AZ and they put ( make you regardless ) a commercial tag on 1 ton trucks . and I don't pull anything with mine other than my own stuff. I thought if you pulled RVs you might just be picked out for roadside Dot but not just to get into rv transport ?does that make since ? thanks good video
Thank you for the video. What do you think about starting the RV transport with a single axle semi with a sleeper? I have my CDL A of course.
I never looked into multi-haul but a lot of people do it and like it. If your going that way I think you should be ok. Thanks for watching and be safe
Good video man very informative just subscribed to the channel. I do have a couple questions if you get time to respond back. 1) do you pull any of the cdl loads and if you do what size truck would you say would be the most beneficial for holding that bigger weight? And 2) I haven’t seen a video yet about it but do you dead head back to Indiana to get another load or do you get a load from the reload board? Thanks
I do haul the big loads. And I have no problem doing it. I can’t really say what would be better because I never had a dually. But no problems with the 2500. And I have pulled quite a few CDL loads. Thank you for subscribing and watching the video. I dead head back. We do have a back hall board that you can get on and look. I haven’t got one yet
Thanks for getting back to me I appreciate it, I just got my cdl and have been looking at different routes of using it. I was not sure if you might need a dually or at least a 3500 to pull the cdl loads or if a 2500 would pull them according to what there standards are for tow capacity with how heavy the loads maybe. I appreciate it though I am looking at contacting some companies soon.
I just found your channel. Still just looking at this option……so interesting! Was your Dodge brand new ?
The red one had 14,000 on it and the blue was new. Thanks for watching
Having the weight distribution hitch is great, but does the mean every pull behind trailer you pick up you have to install the plates on the trailer before each load? Just curious, seems like a lot of work for something that would have constantly be installing and then uninstalling.
That all depends on the company you work for. Some companies make you put the hitch on. Well they did now it’s kind of left up to you.
Why do you need the battery and box? Don’t new trailers have breakaways from factory?
What if your truck is deleted with a straight pipe dose that effect you with dot
That all depends on where you live. California don’t like that. Mine was but I put a muffler on it. So far so good
That jacket is something I gotta check out. So, can you just run 5th wheel and not do bumper pull? Thanks for the info.
Yes sir love the jacket. And you can run what ever is on the board. You can pick your load on what it is and where you want to go. Thanks for watching and be safe
Can you post an update on how fuel prices are impacting your transport costs?
I will on the next run I do
fire extinguisher mount typically work better up and down or with the bracket mounted on top of something and not the way you have it sideways. Perhaps you could find one that uses a bungee style.
I have a husky distribution hitch it says it can go up to 14000 the balll says 10000 pounds. Is the ball size 2 5/16 or what other sizes do they use. . Do you not have to use sway bar ? I notices you didn’t have the little ball on your hitch for that. Thank you
Found like you got the same hitch I have. I do use the weight distribution bars. I don’t use a little balls on the side. And the 2 5/16 ball is all I use. Thanks for watching and be safe
I appreciate the video, I’m also in Tennessee. North Tennessee in Clarksville. I’m more interested in the commute to Indiana to pick up a rv. Is it still worth it to make that long drive just to load a rv?
I think so. There a lot of people in Tennessee that are doing it. That’s how I make my living. Thanks for watching
No!
When deadheading back to Indiana do you have to have the eld on?
That depends on what company. At Indiana Transport we have to log if we’re under dispatch. By law if you’re over 10,000 pound GVWR you have to log back. Indiana Transport if we drop a load off and going home we do not have the log if we are under 10,000 pound GVWR
Is your truck tuned/deleted? From Michigan looking to get started but don’t know the ins and outs of having a deleted truck. Thanks for any info
Mine was. I didn’t have any problems.
Can you tell us more about the handy dandy cooker?
😂 I will. I have to get a new one and doing a video on it. I have it in some of my videos
ruclips.net/video/a2abPXAptGY/видео.html
Hey Mr Tennessee I was just wondering if you idle your truck while you sleep for heat or ac if not how do you stay warm in the cold or cool when it’s hot?
I do idle my truck when I need to. I can’t sleep when it’s hot. As long as it’s not to cold outside that sleeping bag keeps me warm. But I do idle my truck a lot
For heat you can check into diesel air heaters, also called parking heaters. They are more efficient than idling.
Great video. Can you give information on your insurance company. Thanks.
I use Canal Insurance Company. It is around 400 mo
Thanks for the good information. However one point: I believe your gravity feed auxiliary fuel tank is not D.O.T. certified. D.O.T. requires that the fuel from an in-bed auxiliary tank be transferred by pump; not gravity.
Thank you. But the gravity feed tank is ok. It is D.O.T It has been inspected 2 times and it has D.O.T on it. Thanks and thanks for watching. Be safe
What is the plastic piece (block) in your 5th wheel plate? Where can I find one?
It came with mine. It helps to grease it. You should be able to get one where every they sell 5th wheels.
Awesome video! Do you need a diesel engine truck or is a gas engine truck ok?
Thank you. You can use a gas engine. There are a few people that do it.
Looking forward to doing this work & have plenty of money but my problem is finding a company to work for.
Indiana Transport has a Loads right now. But I would call Maple tree I think they’re paying more. Hope this helps
Thanks
@@Clearly69 thanks for watching
take out the passenger seat. it frees up ALOT of interior space and reduces weight. 2 birds 1 stone!
That’s a good idea and I have seen some people do that but I use my truck at home so I need the seat. If I buy another truck then that might happen
good info but no 2500 has more pull than a 3500 dually
Fuel tax is adjusted from state to state buying fuel in cheap states, you’ll pay the difference every quarter
Yeah we have a app and I looked on the app and try to find the cheapest feel like you no matter where I’m going
Does the truck need to be a certain year? and were do you look for loads?
Yes, the truck cannot be over 10 years old in Indian transport
Just got give my opinion, 50+ years trucking. RV transport is a great way to go broke. Few will make a living. Just be honest with your pencil, calculate All Miles, All your time, All cost. $3.00 a loaded mile is break even

Which would be better to have....a 4X4 or 2 wheel drive truck...long bed or shortbed truck...what size is your engine??? Enjoy your videos keep them coming. Thanks
I have a 6.7 cummins. I have a 4x4. It helps out in the snow and on the bed well depends on what you want. On a dodge if you get a short bed then you get a bigger inside so you have more room to sleep in the truck if you get a long bed you’re not gonna have much room to sleep. I hope this helps and thanks for watching
@@mr.tennessee Thanks for the reply....on the Ram web site it lists 2 cummins engines!! Room to sleep is always important, just one video that I watched said that the short bed cut down on turning radius for hauling 5th wheel??
@@arthurgreen9712 it does but if your careful I think it will be ok. I haven’t had any problems yet. But f250 has a long bed and a big back seat but I’m a dodge man 😂
Hey great information. One question though. I thought you need a sliding 5th wheel hitch if you have under a 8ft bed. Is your bed 8 feet

It would have to be little runs and you wouldn’t make any money. But you can do it to see if you like it
How old do you have to be to do tv transportation for Indiana transport
I think you have to be 23
2500 limits you a lot in what you tow. You dont have to use WD hitch (just have to have one) and most wont allow you to start drilling tongue to put WD on it. Have never used WD hitch even though i have one. I use air hitch. Mud flap doesnt have to be full width but does have to cover more then jusy width of tires. Mine has 8" gap in center. They cant access anything other then logs on phine. They cant access anything else without your passcode.

From Chattanooga and was wondering what kind of insurance you have to have…? I am guessing it is a lot different than standard million dollar liability and 100,000 cargo..?
I have commercial insurance on my truck. On my 2018 model it was 350 bucks now I have a 2022 model and the insurance is 550. We don’t have to worry about cargo insurance. We just pay a bond of $1500 and they take that out. I think it’s like 10% of your check until you hit 1500. Hope this helps.

As long as I stay under 26,000 I’m good. So far anyway
@@mr.tennessee interesting
You would be correct. This particular truck is likely being pushed well beyond the limits set by the manufacturer. That plate may say he can go that high, potentially, but that truck shouldn’t be used to that weight. Have to be a relatively light fifth wheel to be within a 2500s limits with all that weight.

I’ve done this, it’s not worth it and really hard to make any money. You’re always deadheading back to Indiana for the next load. If you’re not under load you’re losing money in fuel. Wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t for the empty runs back. Also, the Keep Trucking app had a lock out feature that prevents DOT from accessing your phone content / exiting the App without your password. I drove for IT as well by the way, they’re a great company to drive for I personally just could not seem to make more than about 700-900 a week profit. i ask about DOT , because is that what your transport company does or the state ?
You have to go to a shop and get a DOT inspection before you start at any transport company. You have to do that every year. If where are you live they make you do that already then you should already have that.
@@mr.tennessee cool, no they just issued a commercial tag but no dot. I would probably have to find someone to do that. Another reason I ask is I'm deleted
@@chadjones99 my red truck is too. You can go to a loves truck stop. Really they don’t check that much.
where does a guy find RV loads?
That is a good? Right now 😂. We have a load board app. If your doing it on your on I would look at central dispatch.
Do the rv haulers get fuel surcharge?
Yes we do
Thanks for the reply , are u on any social media? Trying to gather all info before I decide to make the leap bc as of right now I am a local driver with frameless end dumps and would like to run rv for extra cash or possibly full time

What brand of aux tank is this.
I got mine at dually depot
I am curious what brand the aux tank is as well.
@@donaldlayng4415 dually depot is where I got it. In Elkhart Indiana. I have their tag on it.
Thanks, I was trying to read the tag on the video, it just wasnt clear enough. One other question I have is does your truck have the puck system for the fifth wheel? I just traded my 2018 ram 2500 6.4 hemi for a 2022 Ram 2500 mega cab cummins. I havent measured yet, but i wonder if that 72 gallon tank will fit in front of the puck system mounts on the 6'4" box. looks like the dimensions show the tank to be 20" deep. and is it aluminum or steel?
@@donaldlayng4415 that’s a good ? Not sure.Call (574) 266-9151 that’s Where I had mine done and ask them they should be able to tell you. Sorry I wasn’t any help on this but I don’t want to tell you wrong. I don’t think it will fit but call them to make sure and they can tell you the name of the fuel tank. I didn’t see a name on mine

I think most of them do it
To get started do you need a dot physical
Yes you had to have a health card. And we are a little slow right now. Thanks for watching
EVERY wreck I've seen due to high winds happened to single rear wheel truck. High winds can happen suddenly so a dually is the better tool.
Did you know that using a weight dist. hitch voids the Manufacturers warranty on the frame if you drive off road? This includes construction zones absent finished surfaces. I only use one in high winds.
I have seen a few dually wrecks this year. I’m not saying the dually is not the better truck in the wind. But Highwind is dangerous no matter what. You just had to have the sense to get off of the road. At Indiana Transport they made a rule that you had to have your weight distribution bar on the truck before leaving. The dually is a better truck in the wind that’s for sure. But I have seen people push it in the wind because they have a dually which can be dangerous. Thanks for watching and the information
@@mr.tennessee Do the transport companies have guidelines for when to stop due to weather, is it the drivers discretion, or do they push you to make deliveries within a deadline?
@@preachers4135 I think it’s on the driver. They what you to be safe. I think 25 wind Gust

No you don’t. But when loads are slow it’s good to have them.
How do you get DOT’d?
You can go anywhere that does dots. Like a shop near you or a truck stop

No I give it up. Maybe 1 day go back if it ever gets better.
Who does a guy contact to start pulling campers???
Well find what co. You want to work for and just call them up. Right now we are all slow and don’t think anyone are hiring till January. That’s when there saying it’s going to come back. Indian transport number is 574-293-3642. Hope this helps. Have a good day and merry Christmas.
