Everyone thinks of Queen when they think of Live Aid.There was so much to enjoy from the show, although Queen clearly were far above.

I was there im 52 now so was 18 at the time... I was a U2 nut back then and that was my main reason for going... I had took a flag on a really long stick which was confiscated by a steward at the turn style so just wore the stickless flag around my neck all day, "I still have it in the loft"... My m8 was a Queen fan and we both loved Bowie... I went to many gigs after this of course but this was special and its strangely odd now whenever I watch clips I actually don't remember moment to moment much of it.
But I was there, it just passed so quickly and leaves me feeling kind of surreal

Me too, I went for U2. Bono's brilliantly topical,as always, crowd participation piece from a Lou Reed song and the dancing with a girl from the crowd bit he did was genius. Validated by being copied so many more times but given far less credit than impersonating Queen at Live Aid in a movie got.
Recent talk of Live Aid became hip & cool again, presumably because of a movie that a guy from New York must've seen as, in an invigorated market, he paid £260 for my ticket stub!
I was 18 too (Such a great year 1966), walked onto pitch through opening used by teams coming out for huge game and highlight of so many players careers and gazed across at Mark. We worked together at the time, only for a short while but long enough to convince each other we should take our then girlfriends, and go.
Mark looked back with a grin as we were going in that was almost shouting back that we were thinking the exact same thing, players tunnel, wow!
Maybe was that thought as well as the atmosphere that honestly, doesn't feel corny ( Unlike my "Hello World" flag which very much did), even today to say it was for me, the one and only time I'd say that a THING "took your breath away"
I remember Nik Kershaw was not even slightly as crap as I'd expected.
Hair on arms stood on end during Macca's SingalongaLet_It_Be
Finally the loudness of the crowd singing "Feed The World" on the perimeter of Wembley Stadium, all exiting at once

no Bowies first song was TVC15 then Rebel Rebel then Modern Love then Heros.
Also Sade never played Smooth Operator at Live Aid she played Is It a crime, why can't we live together and Your Love Is King
