Have you gotten recruited for a sport, or are you just starting the journey? What are some tips you've learned along the way?

Service Academies are VERY different. Every student is a cadet as a job, so we (IC and non IC alike) were paid ~$600 per month as cadets.

if you are starting out || here are my personal tips for quick growth and tell me if you find them helpful:
    * thumbnail - simple ,informative ,creative ,trending(up to date), questioning (able to develop curiosity) and no clickbaits(you need trust for gaining audience) , not too loaded / busy and try to avoid long phrases rather icons(graphics designs) and keywords.
    * content - short ,no stories about your life ,no intros or short intro( 1-2 sec. ) ,precise and quick, be real and authentic, good editting and include simple graphic designs and 10 sec. outro, bloopers are always frank for building connections.
    * title - SEO and up to date, short ,informative and questioning.
    * always keep description with required links.
    * never ever try to cut connections between your audience.
    * try to improve and experiment with thumbnail and content.
btw you are doing great || KEEP IT UP

I wrestled at Iowa State and would say that it was a great experience despite not competing for my last two years (injuries as well). Interestingly enough, I look back and appreciate having to go through the process of redefining myself in a familiar place. As I am sure you can relate to, athletics and being a student-athlete become pretty intertwined in your identity, and transitioning out of that can be difficult. It was an interesting experience having to transition out of that and redefine myself despite my community/friends/acquaintances all knowing me as something else. I am sure you can relate to that as well. Thanks for the video and sharing your experience!

@wrestlingwithwords Yes! I am glad I had both experiences. My last year being a student allowed me to pursue my other interests which have defined my path post college.

Should I join teams outside of my school? or should I just run for my school. That's my main question. And do I have to go to meets with scouts? I live in Texas so it might be challenging to go to these meets and visit schools in person. Also what kind of track meets should I go to and what times should I aim for? I saw that runner at Brown (I want to go here) and most other D1 teams in between 1:52 and 1:48 for the 800m. Thank you :)

I would suggest joining a team outside of your school if they can get you to official meets where you can have chances to set PRs. Usually additional meets happen on Saturdays. If your school is competitive and already goes to these meets, then outside teams would just provide another coach to train with to perfect form/technique etc. Texas meets can be really competitive, so it’s a great environment to push yourself.
Some scouts will go to big meets, but scouts will also look at online meet result sites (TFFRS? I forget what they’re called now) to see who performed well, and send out letters to athletes they’re interested in.
Re times to aim for: To secure a spot at a school you’re interested in, be able to beat the PRs of existing runners already on the team 🙂

How do you heal from a permanent stress fracture?

    • @karllyfeng
      @karllyfeng  3 месяца назад +1

My doctor said it doesn’t heal? I’m not entirely sure. He just said I need strong abs and I won’t feel the pain, and so far that has worked fine for me!

@@karllyfeng hmm, thanks for the reply. That sounds about right. I sprained my ankle a long time ago, went to take an X-ray but everything look okay. But then I keep re-sprained it every once a blue moon. Then recently I travel somewhere and need to walk a lot everyday, within a week it hurts again . Maybe what I need to do is stretch and exercise that will strengthen it (my ankle)!
