      Hey guy great to hear from you buddy. Been checking out a lot of your new videos and stuff and things are looking really good. I really love that comment I couldn't help sit there and read it all that gentleman who asked you if you wear anything under your kilt. I think you all went back and forth seven or eight times on the comments. I don't usually read that many comments but that one was great. But here I go rambling on. I'm glad you like the little blocks buddy they work great for me they have for eons. And I hope you can find some use for him too. Thank you my friend good to hear from you especially good as always. @@fleetswoodshop3339 yeah it’s always funny when someone ask if we wear anything under the kilt. And I’m not shy so I just tell them. Often I tell then I wear a kilt because I honestly don’t like wearing clothes at all but since I have to in public, a kilt is the most comfortable. Yeah I’m hoping to get going on some woodworking projects in the next month or so and will keep that idea on my list. Thanks, Guy

Now with that said if they were going in the wood shop oh my gosh that would be a whole different world. there's no way on Earth I could leave those blocks showing on top they'd have to be trimmed out with crown mold . @@fleetswoodshop3339 Hi Doug, I am just second guessing myself on why your project wouldnt work for a torsion box. I think it would if we could have a flat reference surface.
      What are your thoughts?

    • @fleetswoodshop3339
      @fleetswoodshop3339  3 года назад +2

      Joe I think that would work wonderful for a torsion box now I know exactly what you're talking about. But you're right depending on the size of the box you'd want a perfectly flat surface. But in the common way of building a torsion box usually you'd want to cut plywood on the table saw strips to build the box out of so that you don't get any warp like you would have a solid piece of wood. If it's a torsion box worktop cut two or three inch plywood strips and use that for the interior of the box that way they're stable dead straight. And you wouldn't have to do a little box Doug blocks in the joints you just glue and toenail them would probably work great for you my friend and thank you thank you so much if I can answer anything else don't ever hesitate to ask me buddy. Instead of making one pass for the 1/4 inch you make two with a single blade. Little quicker than the router. I prefer to eggbox them, cut the thickness as a slot for half the height, and slot them together. Quicker, faster, easier, cheaper and you do not lose the corner space, or have a gap around the outside (which will collect crud).

      @fleetswoodshop3339  3 года назад +2

      Hey Bill so glad to hear from you my friend. And thank you for subscribing I'm honored. And no sir you wouldn't have to worry about wood expansion at all. if you're making the little Doug blocks out of only wood and using Masonite for the runners no worries if you're using plywood for the runners no worries if you're using actual wood for the runners than just playing them or cut them a little loose just a little 30 seconds of an inch instead of a real snug fit. Once wood gets down that thin to a quarter inch or 3/16 or an eight it really cuts down on the expansion and contraction of the wood and would expands with the grain in other words not lengthwise but with wise so even if it did get some sort of expansion it wouldn't affect the purpose. again my friend I'm honored I hope you enjoy all the videos and don't ever hesitate to ask any questions I can answer for you buddy thank you thank you from Doug

      @fleetswoodshop3339  3 года назад +2

      I'm sorry my friend and double checking my message like I say if you're using real wood for the runners. Plane them down or send them. So they're a little loose like maybe 3:30 seconds of an inch. And you'll be great sorry about the typo there. I'm driving. From Doug

      Bill I'm so sorry. I pulled over my friend I butchered that last message. if you're making the runners that go between the Doug blocks. Out of real wood cut them a little thin. Like 3:30 seconds of an inch. Just a little loose. When wood expands and contracts. It does so with the grain of the wood. Not the length of the board. So you should not have any issue with that at all either. What I did not show on the video was you can make the blocks out of one type of wood say oak. And the runners out of Walnut. And it makes a beautiful contrast. Thank you my friend thank you from Doug

    Very useful information but not something that I would expect to be shop made. I would expect a 10year old Asian to be making them 12 hours day. Sorry I may have offended someone. I can't wait to see the resin video. Waiting patiently.

      Thank you for asking my friend I used two things I use a small handheld engraving tool looks kind of like a pen. Except it's battery operated and has a small grinding tool on the end. And I also use some permanent paint pens. The permanent paint pens. Are made by a company called .Umark. you can find them on the Internet and thank you my friend thank you have a great day and greetings from Texas
