@@fleetswoodshop3339 Lol I just left a reply in the very same direction. Seriously, if there would be ever going to open something like a cathedral dedicated to the woodworking craft, yours should be the place. You look better stocked on some machinery and materials than some serious industrial suppliers here in Germany, while all the furniture and features really make it something ready to worship. Those handles on this other drill press, you made some laminated pieces yourself, right? All this dedication to detail like this and the dedication involved take if from a pure fine equipped workshop to a level bordering the divine. And I say all that even as an electronics dude :)

My Grandpa once retired kept a shop clean like that when I was a little tike. This is a dream-shop though and not a museum or "wood shop". An oh, what a wonderful dream! I hope you have descendants who can love and appreciate it as you do - this deserves at least several more generations.
PS: It also deserves a state of the art alarm system as the USA continues to grow a little more perilous with each passing year.

@@fleetswoodshop3339 I've been living in Japan as an "x-pat" for the past 40 years so a shop like yours is a dream. I live in a 3 bedroom apartment where the walls would be separated by those paper-lathed doors you see in culture photos. So that two of the rooms are conjoined and have been turned into a mini wood shop. I'm sure my neighbors appreciate that I seek out only the most efficient low-powered (low noise) equipment. :) Lots of Japanese old-timey hand tools are used in that regard (slightly over 2,000 hand tools).
My Grandpa (born on a ND farm in the 1800's) donated a lot of time to training and teaching me the wood working skills I now love to indulge! It's a great hobby for me when I'm not developing games or modeling and rigging game characters on contract - keeps me sane. :)
I like watching technique and tutorial videos as well as Show & Tells and yours are some of the best!
I appreciate it and please keep up the good work. Could you direct link to some of the QA videos you mentioned above?

Doug I’ve gotta come back to comment on this twice. It honestly blows anything I’ve ever seen on RUclips away. I’ve spent two years building my own shop now. Paul I am honored my friend thank you thank you. What a nice thing to say my friend. I've spent 25 years working in and on that shop. Had to build it in three phases as I could get the space. when I first bought the building there was a tenant in there so I had to wait about a year before I could get started. And literally that was a little over 25 years ago. I've built so many projects in there I've lost count. but when I made something for the shop I just couldn't stop until I had it looking awesome. It's the way that makes me happy and I am thrilled and honored to know you like it my friend. I've got a couple of questions and answer videos on the channel and a few of the projects I've done. I never really even considered doing RUclips. Until we found out the coronavirus hit and I found myself with a little spare time. Over the years so many people have told me to do a video on the shop but I just never ever had the time. And I'm glad I did so many wonderful folks like yourself have said they like it and found ideas they could use for themselves and that just makes me so happy. And thank you for the subscription buddy I am honored truly honored and I mean that. That means the world to me that you like it and think enough to do so. Thank you my friend thank you from Doug

I thought the Studley tool chest was the best thing id ever seen , that was until I watched this.
My Grandfather was an Cabinet Maker of rare talent and thanks to him I followed in the trade, we shared a special bond.. the love of timber, tools and fine workmanship and I just like he did I can't walk past a piece of timber without running my hand across it. He was a man with a critical eye, and if he was here now and watched this I know he'd be lost for words just as I am.
You Sir are an inspiration to all that love working with timber.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart, every second I watched this I thought of my Grandfather.

@@fleetswoodshop3339 Please make completely off-the-cuff videos about the thought process behind it all, and how you think through a problem or project. That's where the real meat of it lies. I design things in a very similar way, and it's so intensely satisfying to see someone who actually goes through with it, and has the means to do it the right way. There's tremendous potential here.
(And you don't need to take 57 tries to nail something. That's how folks wanting to start youtubing shoot themselves in the foot and exhaust themselves right out of it, before they ever get going. Natural and sincere is the way. Thanks a lot.)

Genuinely impressive. I really don't know how to put it into words better than that. I could never be that organized, but what really stands out to me is how you took the time to do all the inlay and marquetry around the place. That's the kind of craftsmanship that I always point out to people, what I call "art in the everyday", and what I think all of us craftsmen should try hard to incorporate into our workspaces. It's one thing to be functional, but quite another to turn your workshop into a shrine to the craftsman's abilities. Kudos, sir, for a job well done. This video will undoubtedly inspire many young fellows who are just starting out on their paths.

Wow Doug! Thank you for sharing this with us.
I'm a younger guy (twenty one) who just got a job at a sawmill, learning the ropes of equipment and different wood related tools. I'm starting to grow passionate about tools, even though I don't know all of their technical names or uses. I was hand pumping grease on a massive planer manually before I used the companies 'milwaukee grease gun' with the fancy dial knob. That's when I sparked my love for tools. It was so cool and it made my life a lot easier. When it comes to tools, I'm trying my best to learn but it's difficult at times; especially when your coworkers with construction experience (aged 45+ y/o) expect you to have extensive knowledge on various bolt sizes and whatnot. They'll tell me to grab a tool, and I have no idea what it even is. Either way, I've been daydreaming about owning my own house/garage with a workbench, hand tools, miter saws, sanding belts, etc ever since I've begun my millwright training. Then I go online and find videos like this... And I'm beyond speechless. It truly does look like your own personal heaven. I wish I could just go around and look at your shop with my own eyes in person. Maybe one day I can afford even a fraction of your collection... I don't own anything yet but i'll get there :)
I also love the piano and elegance of this video. You earned a sub from me! Lots of love. And judging from your replies you are a very nice and kind person so I am happy that you are successful and doing what you love.

Now and it all takes time just work at it you'll get there I know you can. And thank you I'm honored that you watched and took the time to comment. Thank you thank you from Doug

Anyone that gave you a thumbs down is a complete and utter fool!! The most amazing thing I have ever seen literally in 62 years of life. I’m a passionate wood worker but you sir are my new hero. You should charge admission to see that shop. I would pay big money to get in there and I would spend as much time in there as I possibly could to gather it all In. Mind blown!!!!!! Seriously!!!!

Scott my friend I am honored truly and sincerely honored. What a lovely and kind comment. I can't say thank you enough my friend. it is so good and such a pleasure to hear from someone so nice and thoughtful who can appreciate a nice good looking working environment. I can't say thank you enough I truly can't. I've been a carpenter all my life to started the track homes and cabinets and crown mold and stairways and all that good stuff. Nowadays all I do is remodel high-rise office buildings. That's why you see so many ladders and extension cords and that room for tools it can be taken out to the job site. the two areas of the woodshop are my personal wood shop and they are my pride and joy. I've been working in and on them for over 20 plus years now. I have a couple of questions and answer videos on the channel that I think you might enjoy I go into more detail on certain things. But more importantly and most of all wow just wow what a lovely comment. You are welcome to come visit in person anytime I'll even put you to work. just be aware we spent two weeks cleaning and detailing the shop to look very very nice before I shot the video. Like all shops it does get very dirty. But with that said I do my very best to keep it neat and clean cuz that's the way I really like it. And I have to agree with you I don't know why the thumbs down I would think anyone would find something in there they liked and could use for themself but you never know it's all good. and I'm very serious you're welcome to come visit anytime I'm in Houston. and from the bottom of my heart my friend a million thank yous from Doug

I am truly honored that you would respond to me and in such a quick manner. I cannot tell you the kind of joy that that brought me. You are at the pinnacle of your profession and I simply don’t have words to properly express how much it moved me. Your reply to me literally brought tears to my eyes and I thank you again. If you fly fish by chance or want to try it my mobility is less than what it used to be but I could guide and outfit you on the San Juan river in North west New Mexico which is world-famous. I’m not a paid guide but I could easily be so. I don’t know what else I could offer you that would be more from my heart than that but it would be an honor just to meet you. I might just try to make a trip to Houston just come and see you and that shop. Once this Covid thing mellows out hopefully. That is on my bucket list now you can guarantee it. I could go on and on. I’m just blown away. Thank you for what you do and what you’ve done. I’m sending this video to everyone I know and hopefully they spread it to everyone they know. That’s what I’m telling them. Thank you again you have made my day my week my month. I needed to see that.

Scott again that is so nice of you. You made my day also my friend. I've never been much of a fisherman although I was born in New Orleans. Lived in the French quarter. My parents had a seafood restaurant there and a shrimp boat. And as a young kid I work that. But somehow the fishing thing didn't stick with me. All I seem to want to do is work and fix the boat. And I am so glad it made you happy I am beyond glad and yes my friend absolutely anytime you plan on making a trip down this way don't hesitate to let me know for one second. I can show you a lot more than just the shop. And it would be my honor. If you go to the show more section underneath the video and click on that my email address is there. When you get a chance shoot me an email. And thank you again my friend thank you thank you from Doug

Lol. That's brilliant! When I started watching, I thought I'd watch a few minutes of it; with all the rewinding and watching bits over again, I probably spent two hours watching it. It's funny, people who are messy say they wish they could be more organized; people who are well organized say they wish they could be more messy. Lol. We all need to learn to be happy with who we are. You do you - you're doing a fantastic job of it! Great video!

If my father-in-law was still alive - I would drive him to Houston tomorrow and knock on Fleets door. He immigrated to US from Macedonia and was a magician with wood work. He would have marveled at this beautiful work space - and he was a huge John Wayne fan. Thank you for sharing this!

"YOU'LL LOVE IT!" indeed. I absolutely love it! What a genius level of use of space. My first thought was it looks cramped, but it really isn't. In this shop you aren't wasting time moving from machine to machine. Everything is just so perfectly organized. I can't say enough positive comments. I could go on and on. Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video. I will be sharing this with all of my handyman friends.

And yes you are absolutely correct the video does make it look a little cramped but it's not at all. All the space you need to work from tool to tool is there without any space wasted. Thank you so much for noticing that and pointing it out that means so much to me. And thank you for taking the time to watch and comment that makes it all worthwhile thank you so much from Doug

This is almost unbelievable. My wife was showing me parts of this video the other day, but I didn't have the time to watch it with her. It's like you combined every tool from every hardware store and Home Depot with a meticulous accountant's sense of organization and filing and a librarian's sense of space. I have no more words.

This guy walks into Home Depot like Norm walks into Cheers. He gets a personal assistant. Never have I ever seen such a magnificent wood shop. Says so much about the quality of man you are. You’ve earned the right to run a master class sir. I’m deeply humbled by the beauty of your OCD. YOU are truly the wood shop king. It’s really inspiring to know something like this exists. Thank you so much for sharing.
