Not the only way sir. It depends on the style and how well it's put together. I like both. Working and nothing else, but I also like videos where they talk and maybe have some music that fits it. There is no one correct type.
Nicely done, what a difference, keep meaning to do this to my workshop but i would need about ten skips to get rid of all my rubbish, the only thing that spoiled the video was that annoying youtube adverts that keep dropping down.
A little bit of all of those you mentioned, But first and firemost someone who dorsnt appreciatw showeling snow 😅 which im afraid i have to do a lot in the near future
Something to ponder... Video's like this, is documenting history. Throughout history each workshop and each craftsman has a history behind them that has helped shape their work. Used tools had their own history and the building was used by others. So each workshop has decades of history that is unknown or forgotten which is the charm and inspiration of every workshop. I'm glad to be part of that ever growing wood craft history.
The reaction to realizing that winter is here already at 4:15 is a humorous example of "I thought I was working hard, but realized I need to kick it up a notch to be done 'before the snow flies'". Inspiring results!
Finally, someone not pushing Festools down my throat. A real woodworker, with real skills, using workingmans tools. Man, I love your shop. I can't imagine working in such a beautiful place every day. You are truly blessed. The work you did on the shop was amazing. Can't wait to see more from you.
This is hands down the most enjoyable wood workshop video I have ever seen. The step-by-step with no nonsense and the audio combined are perfect. And the wood workshop itself is incredible too! I will be borrowing a lot of the ideas for my own shop. Bravo sir, outstanding. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Jonas, I think we have all been there! Your shop turned out nice. Now it will take about six months to know where everything was put. Thank you for taking the time to film, build, edit and post this video.
I absolutely love the “get it done” work ethic here. I get paralyzed by all the details and end up standing there thinking to the point of never getting anything done. Great video!
I'm the same way. I'm so worried about "doing it right" the first time, that I spend more time fretting over everything than it would take to complete the project, realize I made a bunch of mistakes, tear the whole thing apart, fix the mistakes and do it all over again.
I know nothing about wood working, but you just know when you are watching someone with a mastery of creativity and skills. It is awesome to behold someone bring forth something from their imagination and craft it into existence - absolutely mesmerizing. I must say the editing of these videos is top notch as well. Legendary.
This is my first viewing of an episode by Mr. Olsen. Beautiful sculptures. Impressive shop renovation. Excellent video editing. I will happily look for more videos from him.
I endorse the other comments. Only thing I can add is that those of us who have watched wish we hd this introspect and talent. God Bless sir, my woodworking hero.
Qué placer verte trabajar con tanta creatividad. Un lujo tu taller. Gracias por compartir tus ideas de cómo organizar un taller. Saludos desde "la ciudad que tiene payé", en Argentina.
Nice to see you have practical skills to go with your artistic skills. That's some very functional carpentry without wasting a bunch of time on details. I wish I could be more like that with my carpentry. I tend to get stuck on making fancy details that no one else will ever know about.
The algorithm sent me here and once I started watching, I couldn't stop. Such a creative and inspiring workshop! Oh my gosh, all those modular and custom pieces fitting together in such a pleasant and artistic way? It's so cute, tidy, and organized. I am so amazed by you. New subscriber.
Beautiful work Jonas. Now you just need dust collection system. Perhaps for a project video, you could make a benchtop, portable dust collector that you can use while power carving and hand sanding? It could be the size of a small box that has shields on either end that fold out on the front and top. Sort of like a DYI small spray booth. You could use an exhaust fan on the back to create a suction for the dust to go through several filters inside of the box. Or you can just attach a port inside of the box for a shop vac hose to create a suction. You could also take a section of the benchtop and create a downdraft section. One channel made a small down draft drawer under the workbench that pulls out, hook up a shopvac hose and sand ontop of that drawer. That is a clever idea. For your health though, you should do something. Great content!!
What a mesmerizing video to watch… perfection in action!! Every cut, every nail hammered, every piece of wood etc. are like music in a well coordinated orchestra! Mr. Jonas, watching you is like a panacea for all the aches in this world❤😊!
The only problem with such a well-produced, well-edited video of a phenomenal renovation, design, and build like this is that it belies the incredible amount of planning, creativity, talent, and skill it took to complete both the workshop and video. Not only did you make this look easy, you made it entertaining! I was mesmerized. Now I'm subscribed as well. It didn't hurt that the creator is as pleasant to look at as his creations are, if not more so.
This is every woodworkers wet dream. I'm in awe of this guy. And when I die, I want to make sure to come back as one of his chickens by the way. The coop is so homey. Love this channel!
Marvelous workshop , oh how I hope to have one half as good one day. Well done sir, been such a great pleasure watching the work you create. Thank you.
Thank you! With the ressources available online i think anyone can build their own workshop from skratch with a bit of dedication. The cost of you do everything yourself is cheap compared to what you are left with! Maybe the biggest problem is to find proper land for it
Love the new work shop. You did a lot of great work there. thanks for sharing. I have a sewing room and art room that is a mess. I decided to tackle it after the first of the year and get it back in shape like you did.
Rip vs not beating the seasonal change. But great overhaul of the workshop, so much space gained from that one corner. And all new organization, here's to not loosing/misplacing things anymore.
Impressive 😊 So many creative storage solutions. There is something very special about a person who is so creative and can build things with their own hands. I’m happy I found this channel and I look forward to more videos. Take care and stay warm. ❤
Excellent format with no talking or music to pollute our ears. Excellent skills, humor, and a gorgeous view earned you a new subscriber. Beautiful sculptures, Jonas. All the best to you on your woodworking journey. Greetings from North Central Florida, USA.
Great looking work shop, I love those new cabinets to store your tools. 🛠️ I need to had, this is the best video of its kind I’ve watched, no long moments seeing the same thing, you show it once then move, I simply love it, thx.
Love what you did. I keep looking at my spaces trying to decide what I need to make and how I can arrange everything for both my wood working and my sewing room. Love your art!
BRAVO!!!!! That was INSPIRING! God has given you a wonderful talent!!! Glad you’ve devoted yourself to developing it!!! Thank you for sharing it with us!!!
I know nothing about woodworking, but I do appreciate craftsmanship. I was entranced by this video. Watched every minute. At first I thought oh hes a woodworker but then I was like Oh! Dayum! He’s an Artist! Amazing!
Thank you! Ye i am not very experienced with carpentry yet which is why i went for my own solutions for stuff here, But the workshop became pretty functional, at least for my use
I am just completed the interior walls of what most people refer to as a "she shed". I am in the contemplation stage of how to organize my tools and supplies. I love the idea of cleats! So I will try that in at least one area, for now anyway! Great video!
I have a small shop, and for years, I utilized shelves until it became a cluttered mess. Then last year I emptied my shop and built some cabinets with plenty of storage and it made a world of difference.
Great videography! You did many projects and kept it concise. I really like your designs for the workbench and saw stand. The view of the lake is stunning. First time here, I'm hooked!
I like what you are doing Jonas. And then you showed sliding a piece pf plywood across the new rolling bench and magically it was the same height as your old bench. Kudos. I did not expect that, what a surprise.
Absolutely brilliant. To be able to create with the hands what one sees in his mind is truly a lost art. Doing it all in this setting just magnifies how very cool it is to be a maker in his own space. Amazing work Jonas!
Outstanding. Amazing how good planning can transform a small shop into something awesome! Looks twice the size and more pleasant to work in. Well done!
All of this is so amazing. The amount of planning and designing that must have gone into this. Watching these videos feels a bit like a mystery - I see the pieces being made and put together, and spend the whole time trying to figure out what this is and what it's for. Sometimes I can't figure it out before you hang it on the wall and demonstrate. That piece that folds away underneath the bench is ingenious. And I love the art piece on the wall. I lament not having the money for your sculptures, but I will be here on RUclips, enjoying your creativity, and giving you my view.
Defiantly something to be proud off, just clean as you go and it will be an ongoing respect for your gift and process and also a joy for all us clean freaks of whom we are many. Love you Jonas and your art. Merry Christmas.
You are an incredible designer, who can turn a drawing into a sculpture in an unbelievable way. If it weren't already incredible what you do, you're still a builder and a carpenter. FASCINATING. Vennligst godta en stor KLEM fra Sør-Europa. Lisboa.
Magnificent work, it seems that you have spent a lot of time improving your workshop, I like the French method for tools and I have to use it in the renovation of my small workshop, but when you showed your sculptures my mind was blown, fantastic .
Now this is how you create a video. No annoying music and no endless chitchat. Just the sound of the tools and Jonas creating. Brilliant!
Its the way i am the most comfortable making videos and i am happy that you thought it was well put together!
@@Jonasolsenwoodcraft It is the way most of us enjoy viewing! Keep it up.
@@__Timo__ that's a big claim. Can't there be room for both? Something can be good without denigrating something else.
And fast working too...

I’m afraid I wouldn’t get any work done because I’d spend all my time staring at that fabulous view!!
if i have a shop like that, i might not want to work just keep it clean hahahaha
Nicely done, what a difference, keep meaning to do this to my workshop but i would need about ten skips to get rid of all my rubbish, the only thing that spoiled the video was that annoying youtube adverts that keep dropping down.
I love thd sculptures and love the finished workshop, well done.
@georgecurfman7794 I agree. I wouldn't be able to keep my eyes off him either. The scenery is nice too. 😉
A simple thumbs up doesn't seem enough for how good the workshop is 💯
An artist, a carpenter, and an actor! 😆👍

The dremel bit storage 😍 well done, congrats on the awesome renovated shop!!
I believe, your future version of bit sustainer can make coffee!
Thank you! 😊 Now i have a nice hideaway from the long winter up here haha
Collab?? 😊
Love what you did with your logo and the branches. I first thought you would use it as an archway above your door. What wonderful ideas you have.
The reaction to realizing that winter is here already at 4:15 is a humorous example of "I thought I was working hard, but realized I need to kick it up a notch to be done 'before the snow flies'". Inspiring results!
