  • I've wanted to build a rack for all of my tools for a very long time and finally it's finished.
If you're familiar with how the workshop used to look, I built the tool rack using all the wood from the shelving racks that used to be in the corner.
A separate video is available of the matching apothecary bench the rack is sat on.

This is the first of his videos I've seen and at first I was thinking (besides "I didn't know Steven King made wood working video.") was, "Who is this jerk? He's hammering nails with a ball peen hammer, cutting dadoes with a regular blade and his cross cut sled is made of old 2x8's". But as I watched him work I became amazed at his skills. And I started to drool over his collection of hand tools; even more so when I saw how expertly he used them. My skills are pretty sad in comparison. Thanks for the video!

One thing I've been thinking abotu when it comes to Studley. What would he do differently if he had been around today, building a chest?
The main thing I can think of is the use of high strength magnets. I'm sure he would have used those. You can certainly use them in a decorative way, or you could hide them by covering
      with veneer.

    • @DutchBarracuda
      @DutchBarracuda 8 месяцев назад +3

@@Nickle314 Oh absolutely. And what other tools may he have added to the ones he had already? Would he have added powertools? Would he have removed the casing and creating his own custom designs for them? I hope more people create artistic and aesthetically designs for utilitarian equipment.

I’ve commented on your work in the past , the creativity and passion you put in your work is incredible. I have dabbled in woodworking for years and without a doubt you are the best woodworker I’ve ever seen , I told a friend of mine to watch your videos after which he said he was embarrassed to call himself a carpenter he said he is an apprentice compared to you and he has been a carpenter for over 40 years, can’t wait till your next video.

I think that this cupboard, including its contents, would be better placed in my workshop than in yours in England. It looks very "unhealthy" to you. I offer myself to save you from limbo.
Great result, an absolute stunner and all made of pallet wood. Absolute winner 111

    To quote my son
"Daddy we gotsta build that you need we need that thats really super cool! Can we build that daddy??"
This is an amazing piece. I often forget that modern woodworking with all the luxuries and amenities we have now take so much of TRUE legitimate craftsmanship away from where it all started.
The authenticity and eloquence in this piece are of old and true workmanship. Old ways being lost in a time of new ways. Thanks so much for sharing. This young woodworker gets to be humbled with some old school techniques. Really wish I had a set of those moulding plane irons you've got!
I'm very envious of that whole set. And I loved every second of this video. Thank you again!

@EpicUpCycling if only I had the skill to do it as meticulously as you did it would be a project to keep us busy for a while.
My daughter wants to build floating night stands for her room now as well. It's great that I can do something with my kids and see what their minds are attracted to. Thank you for letting me see into a piece of my sons mind. I owe you my thanks for that sir. If you have plans for that build I'd LOVE to discuss buying them haha

That is proper work. Unlike these RUclipsrs like BlackTailStudio that are making payed advertisements for fancy tools and products and use them to overcharge half plastic table tops.

Fan-bloody-tastic as usual. Nice collection of planes. That Stanley No. 55 combination plane is a work of art in itself.

What a display of tools and talent! Reminiscent of the H.O. Studley cabinet. So impressive. Love the Stanley 55 and how it gets proudly displayed!

Amazing project and I'm taking a ton of inspiration from the various methods and ideas. I especially liked the drawer with custom blade holders, mind blown!

I'm always amazed by your ability to turn scrap wood that most people would just throw away into such amazing pieces of furniture. It's legitimately Insane.
