Facts. There's a night and day difference. I've been saying the same thing for a while now and I much prefer his current live singing style and voice. 🤘
All of the members are back except one. Not like they need James to sound great, but hey, people like to see the asian guitarist on stage, nothing wrong with that.
Jeff Schroeder deserves to be on that list as well. He has now been in the band longer than the original 4 members were together, and Billy has credited him with keeping things together going when he was ready to call it quits approximately 10 years ago.
As much as I despise phones out at concerts I still find myself looking for footage online after a show. Nice vid, hope you got to enjoy some of the show without the device in hand for a bit
Heh. I’ve been the person who doesn’t get to go to the show, I know what it’s like to miss out. So I particularly wanted to share the songs from ATUM. I know a lot of people are keen to see/hear the new tracks. I get where you’re coming from though. FWIW I don’t normally try to capture radio hits. And Yes I did. Out of ten shows I only grabbed a handful of songs. I rocked out plenty. 🤘 It was amazing, uplifting and soul warming. My FitBit thought I was running a marathon 😋
Katie Cole was fantastic live. Her vocals are so effortlessly spot on. She’s the artist that did the arranging of the background vocals on ATUM. Her episodes on the Thirty-Three podcast and the Smashing Pumpkast are great listens, a lot of interesting insight into some of the processes and the give-and-take of designing things for Corgs. And she just released an EP called Rivers and Roads which is lovely, chill, acoustic-y Americana. She’s a busy, but very talented lady. 👍
Heh. If Corgs did everything the way everyone else liked, we wouldn’t have [insert name of your favourite album] He’s a weird guy, he’s never denied it. Wanting authentic music but wanting the person who created it to be less authentic is kinda redundant And I know I shouldn’t bother, but unless you are in your early teens and have a lot of personal growth ahead of you… I assume you watched the video because you like the music, but then you took the time to stop and write a shitty comment trying to make fun of what someone looks like/wears. The exact sort of behaviour we tell small children not to be foolish enough to indulge in. We all do shitty things sometimes, I hope you go do something good to try to balance this misstep out a little I’m not particularly nostalgic for the 90s, but it’s worthwhile remembering that the alternative music movement began with the premise of being a counter movement against the mass trend bullshit of popular culture that uses social pressure to smoosh the individuality right out of people and make them feel as though there is always something they should be, that they can never quite become I know, I know… “OMG, it was wasn’t even that mean”, right? I get it. Probably just a throwaway thought. Perhaps that’s why I’m bothering to respond. A few years go by and the angsty teens become the people casually using social shame to try to make people less unique, be it Corgs or the strangers reading the comments. Just, generally contributing to the noise telling everyone they don’t look right, and also reassuring them that they are at all times being judged No. It wasn’t hugely offensive, beyond everything that it stands for. 🖖
There's a girl onstage holding a mike. What's that about? Usually chicks onstage at Pumpkins shows play bass. I know Darcy is out of the question but can we at least get the pretentiously aloof Auf der Maur back?
That is the delightful and impressive Katie Cole. She did the Background Vocal Arrangements on ATUM, as well as performed a lot of them. She’s an Aussie who does her own thing musically in the Americana/Country scene. She doesn’t need to be aloof, she’s quirky and funny, and seems to understand music in a way most of us never will. If you’re interested in the Pumpkiny creation/development process, she did a couple of guest spots on the Thirty Three podcast and Smashing Pumpkast which are well worth a listen. She also loves cats, and has independently released an EP just recently called Rivers and Roads.
@@NoniMcPony No way I'll have to look into her music and get myself updated on all things Pumpkiny! Can't believe I've not heard ATUM yet! Are all 3 acts in the same package or is 'ATUM' part one of 3? I also got confused with the Teargarden Kaliedoscope project...
ATUMs three Acts were released at different times but all form part of the one album (When you buy the vinyl/cd/iTunes album you get the three Acts) It’s the sequel to earlier concept works Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness & Machina/The Machines of God and there is a narrative that goes along with the album. @@werideatdusk its from letting horses out in the street right? I'm pretty sure she has gotten better and was supposed to play with the band but was denied
@@XxBladeeSlay3rxX to put it bluntly, she destroyed her looks with botched plastic surgery. And I know looks aren't everything, but she also has been out of the public eye and not even playing in bands publicly at all. I think given the size of the contract with live Nation for their 2018 stadium tour, and that they were having difficulty just getting her to show up to rehearsals, they just cut their losses. It's sad but I don't believe Corgan, iha and Chamberlin would exclude her without having good reason. Besides which, she quit the band in 1999 and they don't owe her a spot on the roster...
It’s awesome to see James back
Be even better if D'arcy wretzky was too!!!!!!

Amazing James Iha
Billy seriously sounds better than ever! Look at his 90s live shows and then look at this. Happiness and stability pay off!!! 🙏
Facts. There's a night and day difference. I've been saying the same thing for a while now and I much prefer his current live singing style and voice. 🤘
I think he sounded amazing live during the Gish and Siamese Dream era, but yeah, he was in his early 20's.
Totally agree. Really glad he got his voice back!
His voice is amazing
Yes!!! So glad he got it back!!!
At least some members are back. They've always sounded great live.
All of the members are back except one. Not like they need James to sound great, but hey, people like to see the asian guitarist on stage, nothing wrong with that.
Iha is great. Enough said.
Saw Smashing Pumpkins in Brisbane (Sandstone Point show) was so awesome, thanks for recording this nice memorabilia of the concert!
Very welcome! 😀 I loved seeing how much genuine Aussie Pumpkiny spirit there was. Stoked you got to see them live on home soil!
Gracias por la grabación
Great video. HDR is incredible
Thanks for taking the time to say so 😀
Not easy to get, particularly at GA shows
So many bruises 😋
Chamberlain?
GOAT Drummer
Chamberlin.
And yes.
One of their best songs😈😈😈😀😀😀😀😀

One of the greats. Truly epic catalogue.

Billy finally trolling James for once lol
heck yes Iha brought back the laser tag gun
Special holder on the mic stand just for it 👍 😉
Billy Corgan, James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlain...the three that make the band what it is. love these guys,

Chamberlin is the heart, brain & nervous system.
Chamberlin IS Pumpkins
Gotta love Billy still letting James know: “I’m the teacher, and you’re the student.”
Uncle Fester still has it.
Uncle Fester got some blues chops.

Sounds like a great night. Thanks for this incredible share! Sounds great on good headphones 🤘
THE LASER GUN IS BACK!
Only James can laser gun with such aplomb
James is still the coolest cat after all these years.
Great angle. I think James played a bit bitter in Sydney, but still a cool effect for the solo.
