Hi... First off, very informative post. Q1) what lens did you use for the night rugby game? Q2) for football game setup, what do you recommend for sound? Shotgun? What brand & model? Thanks in advance.
The lens I think was the Tamron 70-180mm F2.8. For sound during games I always use a shotgun mic. For a mirrorless camera with no XLR inputs, I usually recommend the Rode ones. They are good value for the price. Obviously the expensive ones are better and the cheaper ones are not as good.
1:30 your 6400 shots looks much much better in all aspects imho (details, sharpness, colors, contrast, compression, etc.). there are so much artefacts and blur on the ZV-E10 footage.
I don’t think I see everything you’re seeing but either way, the difference is more due to the filming conditions and to my colour grades than to the cameras.

@@Phillies_fuZz The ZV-E1 mark II is a different camera. It's also more expensive. Just go by price, the ZV-E10 is $600 at the moment (body only) so any camera more expensive than that is not it.

Great review of pros and cons of both cameras! I’m looking to film both soccer and football in potentially rainy weather. What’s the best option and any tips for wet conditions? Thanks!
The A6400 is weather sealed so technically it’s the best option but personally I don’t think it makes much of a difference since either way you’ll need a rain cover for your camera.
It's a must to get a zoom lens to capture sports. The length of the zoom range depends on the sport you are filming and how far you are from the action.
Great video. I want to be able to film football (flag and traditional). Most formats require a wide horizontal view and I use zoom on my phone currently once a play develops. Do you have any recommendations for lenses to zoom in during plays and will the software be helpful in uploading into 4:3 or 9:16 ratios? My problem comes from shooting on my phone in landscape and losing parts of the plays when uploading to social media. Or having a smaller cropped video within the 4:3 ratio on IG. Resolution also caps at 1080 & compresses to blurry IG stories. However, I see a ton of great looking videos on IG in full frame using stories/reels in those ratios.
A 70-200mm lens is ideal for football. Going from landscape to vertical always means cutting off parts of your image. You can film wider to make sure that the core of your action is always in the middle of your frame, or you can use position keyframes in post to keep the action centered at all times.
So I’ve started golf vlogging at a super basic level using my iPhone, so obviously needing to get a camera to improve my videos and taking photos would you recommend the ev10 for that? I was looking at the Sony a7iii but that’s probably out on my budget. Great video btw thanks for sharing
Yes the ZV-E10 is a great vlogging camera. It’s still an entry-level camera so not quite the image quality of the A7III. But if you learn how to use it properly, you can get amazing images. Especially outdoors on the golf course.
@@BeyondTheGame_E how’s the battery life? As it takes around 4hrs for a round of golf although I wouldn’t be recording the full 4hrs, is it worth buying the ZV-E10 or save the extra cash for the A7iii
Great video.! Going to go with zv_e10. What lens would you recommend for filming outdoor games to be watched back start to finish rather than close up shots like in the rugby game. Cant get the 18-200mm is recommended on your website is a little out of budget.
If you’re happy with a wider frame all the time, you can buy a prime lens. That’s a lens with a fixed focal length (no zoom). You can find a decent 50mm lens for $300. But personally I would save my money for a zoom lens.

The autofocus on a Tamron lens is never as fast as a native lens but most of the time it’s really not that bad if noticeable at all. But I personally never used the 200-600mm so I can’t talk from experience.
Great vid. Question. You mentioned pdaf wasn’t very important for sports videography. If I’m shooting soccer/football am I safe just using contrast af and shooting 120fps Or can I expect better results sticking with 50pfs and pdaf?
The issue with sport is not the quality of your AF. It's the fact that there's always going to be multiple players in your frame and even the best AF has no way to know which player you are trying to focus on. Here's a video where I explain this in greater details: ruclips.net/video/vgBpc2t9Sq8/видео.html

Hello, Can you HDMI Output to a field monitor in 4k with the ZV-E10? I have a Sony FDR-AX53 and it can do solid 4k recording to SD, but it cannot record to SD card and output HDMI at the same time.
I'm looking for a camera to video live cricket games which can be up to 6-7 hours long (on a tripod). I can get power from an external source i just need a camera that can last for a seriously long period of time. Any suggestions?
I would definitely go with a 4K camcorder instead of a mirrorless camera. Unfortunately, I don't use camcorders myself so I don't have a particular model to suggest.
Hey mate , great review so thank u ! Every other review I have seen has said these are terrible for this type of recording Yet your footage looks great Is it that they don't know how to use the camera or are u doing alot of special things post production I know nothing about cameras but want soemthi g simple to make a couple of videos for my business and also to take some of my 5 yr old son riding his motorbike Thanks mate
It's probably a bit of both. If you simply use the camera on automatic settings and you don't do any color correction in post, it won't look as good as this but you can still get decent looking footage in the right conditions. It also depends a lot on the lens you are using. A kit lens won't look as good as an F2.8 lens for example.
I am looking to invest (in a budget setup) for filming 90 minute outdoor (diverse weather conditions) soccer matches. Would this camera fit the bill? I do so much need to film in rain conditions but hot and cold. I am also wondering if you would recommend a a particular lens (or if that would even be necessary)?
There’s no such things as settings for a particular sport but I did make a video giving you shooting tips for basketball videos ruclips.net/video/kX931hfo2JY/видео.html
I know you use the Tamron lens for a lot of your filming…any other budget lens you recommend for this camera? Are Sony lens kit that often come with this camera any good? I would be using this to film waterpolo games and have ability to record from pool deck
If the lens kit is the only one you can afford right now, just do it. It will be a good place to start from. But it won't be as good as what you see in this video.
How did you reduce the rolling shutter, especially filming sports and at 4k? I've never seen ZV-E10 footage look so good. Most reviews claim 4k is unusable due to the heavy rolling shutter on this cam.
Rolling shutter only happens when you pan your camera side to side very quickly and abruptly. That’s not the type of content that most people use in their videos anyway, so to me it’s kind of a none issue. But here’s a video where I talk about it a bit more if you’re interested ruclips.net/video/wL2toxmkTgM/видео.htmlsi=cdstibc5PqjdRQrx
no face track for 120fps but....can you autofocus the players? I mean...another kind of focus, touching the screen or something. I have never owned a sony camera.
Yes if your goal is to edit highlights and things like that. If you want to a live broadcast or film the entire game from start to finish, I would go with a camcorder.
Hey I’m looking to buy a Sony beginner… mostly for content / studio sessions / street photos for ig / events Would you recommend Sony a6400 a6500 or zve10
I would recommend any of these cameras as a budget option but they all have their own pros and cons. The A6400 doesn’t have any stabilization, the ZV-E10 doesn’t have an EVF and the A6500 is more expensive. It just depends what your priority is. No camera is better than every other camera at everything.
@@BeyondTheGame_E thank you so much I would say priory Is primarily content video shooting indoors .. I’ve found some a6400-6500 for around 800-900 in my area for with lenses / few extra gadgets just wanted to make Best overall pick for right now will definitely look to upgrade futuristically
@@ayotally If you focus mainly on video, I would go for the ZV-E10 personally but they are hard to find these days so if you have access to a A6400 or A6500 I would just get one of those instead of playing the waiting game.
Quick question, as a coach. What would you recommend for recording volleyball games, using it as a coaching tool. Just need something that can capture the whole court. I was thinking of getting a gopro but my concern is over heating. Overall, I want to be able to go in and make small clips to use a coaching tool.
I would get a decent camcorder instead of a mirrorless camera if I were you. Image quality won't be perfect or cinematic looking but you won't have any issues with long recordings and the setup will be really easy. Unfortunately I never use them so I don't have a specific model to recommend.
It’s not always the same lens that comes with the camera so it’s hard for me to say if yours is good enough but it’s never great. At the end of the day, it depends on your budget. But try to get a lens that can zoom at least up to 200mm.
@@marianjohnson3145 yes, you can use the settings mentioned in this video ruclips.net/video/TOuOslm5jeY/видео.html but to film outdoor sports, you'll also need a variable ND filter to control the brightness.
It all depends on your budget but the lenses I recommend for sports that are really good and still affordable are the two lenses in this review video ruclips.net/video/omGdWeu0LLg/видео.html
There's no such thing as a camera with a decent mic. In-camera microphones are more backups than anything. They can record atmosphere but that's about it. Blurry backgrounds come from the lens and not the camera. The lower the aperture of your lens is, the blurrier your backgrounds can get. But it also makes it much harder to be in focus. Anyway, to answer your question, you won't find a camera under $500 that can do all that. Especially since you need to factor in the price of a good lens and an external microphone. I suggest saving your money for a camera like the one in this video and simply using your phone in the meantime.
Yeah of course. I don’t think it can do everything this camera does though. For example, it can’t shoot at 120fps. But it can still shoot great footage with the right lens at 60fps.
If you’re filming court-side then yes. But if you’re a parent filming from the stands, you might need a bit more reach depending on how big the gym is.
Complete noob here at video ing. I am wanting to start filming my kids soccer games. (the full 90 minutes). And be able to review the games with them, and then store their seasons on plex for posterity. It sounds like with the heat protection option turned up like you did this would work, but Is this the camera the right tool I am looking for as apposed to one of those camcorder looking things? Or is this more specialized towards shorter videos? And if so, do I need to also buy a lens like you have in the video, or would it be functional (to be able to film the whole range of the field) without and I could add a lens at a later date?
Any camera needs the appropriate lens for your needs. In your case, you are probably better off with a camcorder. The lens and zoom will be included and attached to the body and it will be much easier and more convenient for your needs.
Any lens is usable but there’s always room for improvement. Here are the lenses I recommend for the next step up ruclips.net/video/omGdWeu0LLg/видео.html
Hi E, great video , if I turn it off from Sony zve10 and my lenses also don’t have ibs, is there a difference if I were to stabilize inside of DaVinci instead of catalyst. Or it works best to stabilize in catalyst and then import media to DaVinci ?
Sorry, I don't use DaVinci so I have no idea how good the stabilization is. But I would assume that using the gyro data from the camera with Catalyst browse would be the best option.
It does exist but you may have noticed in the videos that talk about it that you need to move your camera very aggressively to get rolling shutter. Personally I don’t know anyone who films like that.
This video alone convinced me to return my canon m50 and grab the e10! Loving it so far but I’m curious to know if you use any picture profiles? And if you do what do you feel is best for filming sports at night?
I typically use slog2 because I try to match the footage to my fx3. But I like cine2 personally. It’s very subjective though. There’s not one profile better than the others, they’re just different.

Can I connect the camera (while using) to external power bank to extend battery life?
Yes you can.
This helped me sooo much. Thanks for a great review. Quick question. I have the exact same camera. What focus settings did you use? to
My pleasure! Here's a video I made about my autofocus settings ruclips.net/video/Ui0dfVWkxDU/видео.html
@@BeyondTheGame_E Just watched it. Really helpful thank you.
@@BeyondTheGame_E I appreciate your reply. Thank you 🙏🏽
Hey mate , great review so thank u !
Every other review I have seen has said these are terrible for this type of recording
Yet your footage looks great
Is it that they don't know how to use the camera or are u doing alot of special things post production
I know nothing about cameras but want soemthi g simple to make a couple of videos for my business and also to take some of my 5 yr old son riding his motorbike
Thanks mate
Yes this camera can work for soccer but you’ll definitely need a lens. Ideally a zoom lens with a max zoom of at least 200mm.
Great review! I have the Sony a6400 and I'm wondering which color profile you used in those shots?
Thanks! I’m pretty sure it was Cine2.
With a color grade in post as well.
Do you think this would be a good choice for recording little league and youth football? Probably 2 hour recordings? Thx
Yes it is. As long as you use the right lens and have a spare battery.
Can you give me the configuration you used?
For which part specifically? Because I tend to change the settings depending on what I'm filming.
What settings to use for basketball?
There’s no such things as settings for a particular sport but I did make a video giving you shooting tips for basketball videos ruclips.net/video/kX931hfo2JY/видео.html
Should I buy this camera for my soccer highlights?
Yes, it's a good camera for that if you pair it with the right lens.
Wich camera do you recommend under 1000€ for sport video like motocross. And also good quality photo’s like pets , cars , bikes
This one.
What was the temperature outside when you were filming?
I think it was around 25 degrees Celsius if my memory serves me well.
no face track for 120fps but....can you autofocus the players? I mean...another kind of focus, touching the screen or something. I have never owned a sony camera.
Autofocus still works fine, just not face tracking.
Sir, is it good for vedios of football drills, football skills for insta, RUclips??
Yes it absolutely is.
wsp man! Love ur t shirts they r so amazing! I was wondering what pictures profile u r using for the sony zv e10
Thanks! I was using Cine2 if I’m not mistaking.
@@BeyondTheGame_Ethanks man! Is that all natural or did u color grade it?
@@hshsushbsbehdhehe7349 I always color grade.
What l is the best lens for ZV-10 on football game?
Depending on your budget, one of the two lenses in this video ➡️ ruclips.net/video/YUPzUrHcyXo/видео.htmlsi=FwQl2zwf1nxOO_8F
Would this be good to film 11 a side football match on a tripod?
Yes if your goal is to edit highlights and things like that. If you want to a live broadcast or film the entire game from start to finish, I would go with a camcorder.
Which lens in the Heating issue part at 11:42 ?
I think that was the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8
I recently picked u a zv-e10 and I was wondering what the best picture profile is for when I am filming sports
Check out this video. All my favorite settings and picture profiles are mentioned ruclips.net/video/TOuOslm5jeY/видео.html
Hey I’m looking to buy a Sony beginner… mostly for content / studio sessions / street photos for ig / events
Would you recommend Sony a6400 a6500 or zve10
I don't understand English but this is the best video of the world of the zv e 10 congratulations, I want this camera
Merci beaucoup 😊
Hey Man..this is really cool..if I use a zv e10 then what lens is good but on a low budget?
I recommend these two for maximum value for price ruclips.net/video/omGdWeu0LLg/видео.htmlsi=5Eq02fJrOdbU5W4N
What do you recommend to record my sons 11v11 soccer games
The camera in this video.
What is the best camera lens to use when filming 7v7 football outside ? The lens that comes with it will that be tough to record with ?
It’s not always the same lens that comes with the camera so it’s hard for me to say if yours is good enough but it’s never great. At the end of the day, it depends on your budget. But try to get a lens that can zoom at least up to 200mm.
Ok thanks
Do you have a video I can watch to fix my settings where it’s al fixed up for a football game ?
@@marianjohnson3145 yes, you can use the settings mentioned in this video ruclips.net/video/TOuOslm5jeY/видео.html but to film outdoor sports, you'll also need a variable ND filter to control the brightness.
What Lens with the ZV-E10 Would you recommend for sideline recording of Basketball?
It all depends on your budget but the lenses I recommend for sports that are really good and still affordable are the two lenses in this review video ruclips.net/video/omGdWeu0LLg/видео.html
what camera would you recommend under $500 that has background blur, decent mic and would be able to video my son's football?
There's no such thing as a camera with a decent mic. In-camera microphones are more backups than anything. They can record atmosphere but that's about it. Blurry backgrounds come from the lens and not the camera. The lower the aperture of your lens is, the blurrier your backgrounds can get. But it also makes it much harder to be in focus. Anyway, to answer your question, you won't find a camera under $500 that can do all that. Especially since you need to factor in the price of a good lens and an external microphone. I suggest saving your money for a camera like the one in this video and simply using your phone in the meantime.
Which lens you shooting with?
In this particular video, I'm using the two lenses from this review ruclips.net/video/omGdWeu0LLg/видео.html
They all sold out 😭. I have an old Canon M50 laying around my house any chance I can make that work?
Yeah of course. I don’t think it can do everything this camera does though. For example, it can’t shoot at 120fps. But it can still shoot great footage with the right lens at 60fps.
@@BeyondTheGame_E I have the lens you use to recommend the 18-200mm
I am getting ready upgrade though.
@@MMillerPCs With the M50 I'm pretty sure you need an adaptor for that lens though unless you have an M-mount version.
@@BeyondTheGame_E yes you do. I have one 😎
Would you recommend this camera with a good telephoto lens to shoot surfing?
Yes definitely. It’s a very lightweight camera though so you’ll probably need a monopod to balance the weight of the lens.
Updates in software gives the a6400 eye autofocus, I have it on mine!
Good to know, I had no idea 🤷🏽♂️
@@BeyondTheGame_E eye detect is only available in photo not video on the a6400 👍
Which memory card you use for 4K 120fps...
This camera doesn’t do 4K 120fps. Only 1080p 120fps.
do you recommend a lens to use with this camera? apart from the one you say in the video because I don't want to be spending $800 on a lens.
I would recommend using something like this ruclips.net/video/DKnFZkKaSIo/видео.html
@@BeyondTheGame_Ethank you so much. Btw I love your vids they are so helpful
Is 17-70mm 2.8 enough for basketball gyms?
Once again awesome.
Thank you 🙏🏽
Very helpful
Is the base lens it comes with usable for outdoor and indoor sports or do you have any budget lens recommendations for the zv-e10
Any lens is usable but there’s always room for improvement. Here are the lenses I recommend for the next step up ruclips.net/video/omGdWeu0LLg/видео.html
@@BeyondTheGame_Ethank you
Keep the good work sir
I will! 💪🏽
@@BeyondTheGame_E thank you :)
I love the move ref t-shirt! Where did you find that? I need one for basketball 🤣🤣🤣
I designed them and sell them myself. There’s a link in the description if you’re interested.
Hello, what resolution and fps do you use in the rugby edit?
1080/100fps
Is it the Zhiyun crane 2 compatible to the camera? If not which kind of stabilizers adapt to its conditions?
I don’t know but I don’t see why not. This camera is quite small and light. But the lens size also plays a big role.
Do they just record or can they take photos too ?
It can take photos too.
@@BeyondTheGame_E ok thanks 🙏
T tips, i use ZV-E10 as.well, its good and super compact good for travel
I read something about the rolling shutter problem … is that true ? Like is it an issue ?
It does exist but you may have noticed in the videos that talk about it that you need to move your camera very aggressively to get rolling shutter. Personally I don’t know anyone who films like that.
This video alone convinced me to return my canon m50 and grab the e10! Loving it so far but I’m curious to know if you use any picture profiles? And if you do what do you feel is best for filming sports at night?
I typically use slog2 because I try to match the footage to my fx3. But I like cine2 personally. It’s very subjective though. There’s not one profile better than the others, they’re just different.
@@BeyondTheGame_E which lense you used in for that sports?
