  • The best of The Big Kat at Ohio State. Andy Katzenmoyer arrived in Columbus as one of the most highly touted recruits in Ohio State history, and lived up to the hype. He was the first true freshman linebacker to start his first game in program history, and won Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 1996. In 1997, he won the Butkus Award, sent Corby Jones back in time, and was a consensus All-American. In just three years he had almost 200 solo tackles, 50 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, and six interceptions.
Shoutout to ‪@steelbuck6777‬ for a lot of these cuts. Make sure to subscribe to their channel for a lot of great throwback Ohio State -and college football in general- games!

As an Iowa fan, far too many lowlights. This definitely takes me back to my younger years watching football. Katzenmoyer was amazing. He looked like a machine out there. And considering his injury history, he's a prime example of why these dudes should get paid in some form.

REMEMBER WHEN => OSU BECAME LINEBACKER U !!! Loved those BIG HITS !!!!!
Cooper and Meyer always underachieved => because they played the WRONG QB in the WRONG OFFENSIVE SCHEME. Meyer was worse (even though we beat TTUN) => at least Copper had the common sense to put Joe Germaine in => so we could win the game.
Cardale Jones only got in when JT Barrett was injured.....or we don't win the 2014 NATTY.
OSU beat TTUN, in 2017 => because Meyer's QB was injured again.
In 2016, Ohio State lost 0 - 31 to Clemson with Burrow and Haskins on the BENCH.
      Our REC'vers TORCHED CLEMSON's DB's ! Meyer squandered 3 NATTY's playing JT !
At least COOPER inserted Joe Germaine into the Rose Bowl Game and came home a victor because of his OWN VOLITIONAL DECISION.

I remember shaking his hand in the line up after we lost to the wildcats in the first round of the playoffs. I must have been a buck sixty then, so I felt like a child next to him. As much as I 'hated' our rivals, I was happy to see both him and Carter make it to the NFL, they both unfortunately had short careers

Lotta busts, but they seemed to be pretty big deals in college.

These are most of his great plays. We were losing to Missouri away when Katzenmoyer changed the game by crushing Jones. I also still talk about that pass he batted away against WV. They thought Zereoué was going to win the Heisman that year... same with Iowa's RB, who was quoted after the game saying Katzenmoyer was in the backfield more than he was. ;) Katzenmoyer also shut down Ron Dayne when he was there.
But the main thing this video doesn't capture is the year before we got Biakabutuka'ed. Andy put an end to that $!%&. I'm pretty sure another RB never rushed for over 100 yards the 3 years Katzenmoyer was there.
