Yeah bro he was really like that! We OSU fans was so disappointed when he kept gettin In trouble. I never knew what happened to him til i seen him on the podcast .. super inspiring story.
I don't care who disagrees...Maurice Clarett is a top 3 most impactful PLAYER in OSU football history. He played one year as a true freshman and all but CARRIED that very good but not great OSU team to it's first National title since the Woody Hayes era. I know he made some terrible mistakes, but NO ONE can take away what he did and meant to that 2002 OSU team.
Ya I think that gun thing didn’t help cause he got us that national title mike doss got hurt or he may have been in nfl longer and there defense helped a lot
One of the best RB I've ever seen. Some don't remember he missed multiple games and still broke the freshman rushing record. He was the number one reason the Bucks won that national championship
@@cdubirving8565He’s the best that I’ve ever seen and I have no doubt that if he’d stayed focused and gotten better career advice he’d have won a Heisman and been an All-Pro. Maurice was a prodigy in Ohio going back to his freshman year in high school. Everybody in the state knew who he was, his stat lines versus some of the absolute best competition in Ohio at the high school level were routinely 250+ yds rushing with multiple scores. Best combination of runner vision, short-area quickness, tackle breaking ability and ability to change direction without losing speed that I’ve ever seen. The only thing that he lacked was sprinter speed but he was still fast and really was the total package. Even a really good receiver!
He's doing great for himself...look him up...he's actually doing better now than he was back then with the notoriety...there is no what ifs with him because he was and still is him...again...look him up...have a bless day
Eddie George couldn't beat Michigan so yes he's better than him. Keith Byars never led a Buckeye team to a National Championship. Zeke might be better though.
Probably better than George. Solid debate between him and Zeke. Both carried a team to a national title. The team Zeke played with was absolutely stacked though.
@@milkflameee Hell No. His entire buzz in 2003 was huge compared to Zeke. He is considered the college back who made the mouth guard look cool, aside from having a back having a visor. He could slash up the middle better than Zeke and had a much more advanced leg power during open field space. And if he could head on collision with a defender, he would either slash freely or sidewind his step into a juke to scrap for major yards. He was beyond Zeke. It pissed ppl off what happened to him too. Would have been competing with CJ2K and Maurice Jones-Drew if it were the other positive way around.
People forget that Maurice only played like 7 total games this season...still rushed for over 1000 yards and helped give Ohio State the National Title.
My first game ever was the texas tech game. I'll never forget. I went with my dad who had cancer. He was doing chemo and walked them c deck stairs with me.
I was living in West Michigan as a freshman in high school during Maurice Clarett freshman season That dude was a dawg, I remember him being talked about a lot
He was a freshmen phenom who helped lead Osu to their first national title in 34 years. Then he got into trouble and was in the news for the next 3 years even thought he wasn't playing anymore. He then tried to come back and was actually drafted in the 3rd round by the Broncos. But he never even got on the field and was running with a bad crowd and ended up in prison after being pulled over with several loaded guns.
Bruh was forcing kontakt w/ at least 3 defenders per play!! Mairice Clarett is not only in the "Best RB in OSU history" konvo, But easily in the "Best in college history" konvo.
Ohio State had the best offensive line in college football history that year, he only ran a 4.78 forty at the combine and was usually caught down field before he scored, he never played in the nfl for a reason he wasn’t that good
And only played college football for one year, in and out of jail for legal issues. Didn’t even get to the point to judge if he was able to grow before he was done.
Def had an unorthodox running style and not much top end speed. Not sure he would have really translated to the nfl but he was fun in college and I think he got some bad advice along the way.
“It is what it is” brought me here 😎

100% agree. Moreover, that championship took osu to another level, and they have been a top 5 program since.
Set OSU on a path of excellence.
He had a potential to be one of the better RB in the NFL.
The greatest freshman ever
I suspect that no one asks "what if" more than Maurice himself. How good could he have been? Boggles the mind.
It dam sure does. Pray he’s at peace with it though.

If you read this Maurice - thanks for the memories man! Buckeye legend forever!
He was a badass as a freshman at OSU, imagine what he was doing to Billy and Bobby in high school.
Warren Harding is a D1 high school in OHIO
he had 400 yards once against one of the premier teams in Ohio. Dude was a beast
I used to love playing with him in NCAA 2002
Him & Chris Gamble playing both sides of the ball
Would’ve easily been the greatest rob in buckeye history if he stayed 2 more years
Better than Eddie George? Byers? Zeke? That's a tough list.
Eddie George couldn't beat Michigan so yes he's better than him. Keith Byars never led a Buckeye team to a National Championship. Zeke might be better though.
Zeke was better but Clarett my number 2 back all time for Ohio St

A very special player, watching the highlights I totally forgot I was at that Kent St game, game 2

Congrats on buying your national title.
Cheaters
@@WoodyJ98 Typical Miami Fan.
@@briantincher9284 oh I’m a Michigan fan.
Miami cheated too by basically buying an NFL team
@@WoodyJ98 Michigan? Figures. So why are you watching Maurice Claret/ Ohio State highlights?

One of the most bounciest bowling balls in college football history
No one could get ahold of the man
Power speed vision balance... Man he had it all
Just Imagine if he had stayed healthy both physically and mentally. Ohio State would have won back to back national championships in 02 and 03.
Reminds me so much of marshawn lynch. Everything about the way he moves And plays is so similar
Facts 🙌 it's crazy he was doing this as a true freshman too
U mean Marshawn lynch runs like HIM (Clarett)
This guy was amazing…would have loved him on my fantasy team
My favorite OSU running back. Archie was before i was born so i missed his era
My first game ever was the texas tech game. I'll never forget. I went with my dad who had cancer. He was doing chemo and walked them c deck stairs with me.
That strip is legendary asf
If only if only
Definitely thought he was gonna be the best running back of all time
I know him from one Ohio state game I watched in 02 I was impressed of him
I think Zeke is a good comparison if Clarett stayed two more years. Instead we are left with one of the greatest what if’s in OSU history.

Not the fastest, but those feet!! Talk about Sweet Feet.
OSU has two of the biggest "what ifs" in Maurice Clarett and Greg Oden
You cold with it but those are facts Sir.
My Dawg Maurice Clarett. 😊
In this year I was running drills in the high school tryouts
Okay you know who #26 is for Miami Hurricanes right Maurice the FRESHMAN treated him like a child on punishment the whole game!
Bruh was forcing kontakt w/ at least 3 defenders per play!! Mairice Clarett is not only in the "Best RB in OSU history" konvo, But easily in the "Best in college history" konvo.
MO!
Back then football pads were heavier to so he had deceptive speed
Vlad interview brought me here
Hard fall for the kid. Tough lesion.
How didn’t he win the Heisman Trophy that yr! SMH 🤦🏽♂️

Sean Taylor RIP tht was a dirty tackle…..cause u was robbed
As good as money can buy.
Tressel had to pay players to make Ohio relevant again
oh no, college players getting paid for their labor. THE HORROR
So what . They all did it and now it’s legal. Guess y’all can’t afford it .

He was raw. He played in the NFL for the Denver Broncos.
Dumbest comment I ever heard without him we don’t win national title
Alabama's 2021 roster has something to say about that I think
