    Up 10-7 on a 3rd and 10 situation in the second quarter, Corby Jones decided to scramble for first down yardage.
    That's when Andy Katzenmoyer decided shit's crucial.
    That's when this happened.

    He had a chronic neck situation, he was not a bust at all, he just couldn't play anymore. Neck injuries are nothing to mess with.

    One of the best hits ever. Completely changed that game. Mizzou was winning at the time (second quarter) and OSU dominated from there. It was because Corby Jones was never the same after that brutal hit! Go Bucks!

      It was great and I believe it ended his career. They were talking him up as a Heisman candidate. You never heard from him again after that hit. Miss those days when you could hit like that without getting penalized

    He was the best middle linebacker to ever play at Ohio State in my opinion. Too bad his career was cut short. His rookie year was just the beginning of what would've been a great career. He was a part of some of the best defenses to ever play at Ohio State.

    Was at the game. That hit took the air out of the stadium. One of the best tackles I've seen in a college football game. The imprint of Katzenmoyer's facemask was on the back of Jones' right hand ... I saw it after the game with my own eyes. Corby threw 3 picks after that point. No question that hit turned the game for them. I also hooked up with an OSU fan after the game, which made it a win for me. Go Mizzou!

    I clearly recall watching this game on the tube and then this particular hit. It completely changed the course of that game because before this, Jones was causing all sorts of trouble with his runs. He was a complete pain in the ass but was never the same after that hit and Mizzou's offense just seem to fade into nothingness. .

    growing up, my folks used to send me to ohio state football camp. i was very lucky and grateful to go and spend summers learning from some of ohio states greatest. i played linebacker back in the day and the way they taught how to tackle was from this exact moment. you put your facemask in the ball carriers chest and run straight through him. andy katzenmoyer was an idol to my young self and man was he an absolute freak of nature

    Thats how they need to teach tackling today. They worry so much about concussions, but hitting someone like this still delivers the message and can cause a fumble or make a catch incomplete without a concussion or going low and blowing out a knee.

    • @rhagedorn
      @rhagedorn 8 лет назад

      +GoBucks 2015 Actually that is not the way it should be taught today. By today's rules Andy would have been flagged
      for targeting and ejected from the game for leading with the crown of his head the same way Joey Bosa was kicked out of last season's Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame.

    I was watching that game at my parent's. I believe the game turned around after that hit. Great hit, better than those SEC/FSU/Miami thugs that used to go for the helmet to helmet many times as the guy is defenseless or going out of bounds. Then they lean over the down player and act like an Aborigine after the cheap shot.
