I truly believe Ohio State's run in that first ever CFP helped to spark some magic for the event. It really gave it a "March Madness" feel since they were the overall underdog seed wise. Had FSU or Alabama won it all that first year it still would've been a great event and the fans would've all embraced it but again something about the lowest seed winning the whole thing and doing so the way they did it really helped propel the event.

All teams used to be tougher back then.. around 2021 is when they stopped for some reason.. all the championship caliber teams between 2008-2021 were much tougher and grittier just look at the size of those LB's compared to LB's in 2021, 2022 & 2023.. I know there are reasons for that but it just doesn't hit the same as it did back then.. luckily Ohio State got a young inexperienced bama team though because the next few years Alabama was another animal and the 2018 Alabama team with Tua was something else.. so was 2015 & 2016 Alabama but Clemson was really good those years too.. but now Clemson is irrelevant again and bama is still competing for championships.. that's the difference.. Alabama just doesn't fall off.. although they may not win each year like they used to, they are still in the run for it every year.. played our worst game against Michigan this year and was still the closest to beating them.. were starting to feel more like other teams do though because it's been a few years since we won a natty but we're still Alabama even without Saban.. I think there's even a chance we could improve in 2024 without Saban because Saban was getting old and stressed out and things were changing around him alot.. I'm still proud to be from the heart of the south and I would like another rematch against you buckeyes lol kinda like 2021 😏

And as far as the best team ever discussion goes, that's nearly impossible to determine. I'm a diehard Bama fan, and Bama has fielded a few teams that should be included in that discussion. But so has Ohio St, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, so on and so on. There's just way too many variables. As far as last year's Bama team goes, they were great, but not my favorite of all time. Some people want to throw in how many 4 and 5 star players are on a team, or how many first round picks were on a team. But without team chemistry, heart, and grit, all that don't mean shit. Once again there's too many variables. It hurts to say this, but in my opinion, the best team I ever watched, wasn't from Bama, they weren't undefeated either. The best team I believe I ever seen was the Gator team, after they lost the game to Ole Miss, and Tebow gave the speech, where he vowed to make it up to his coaches, teammates, and fans. And he did! I believe from that point on, for the rest of the season that was the best team of all time! Damn that hurts to say. Roll Tide💪

Why Kiffin didn't run Henry more in the 2nd half after he was gashing them the few times he actually ran him and decided to keep throwing it with Blake Sims (who could be erratic) is the eternal enigma among Bama fans. Bizarre. But, this game was the best thing that could have happened for the next few years, as Saban decided that we had to get faster up front on D to handle the wide open offenses. It also convinced him not to overwork/overpractice before the playoffs and give the team a little more time to get their feet back under them, as he felt that the team was dead-legged for this game. Seemed to work well, as we reeled off 2 of 3 NC's the following years.

OSU fans primarily brought that on themselves. They kept bringing this game up for years but failed to make it to a rematch game and when they finally did we all saw what happened.
Games like this lead to the complete revamp of Saban's mindset on offense to the point he wants to avalanche you in points as opposed to letting his defense get all of the stops.

@@toska459 first off OSU fans brought nothing on themselves. So what if we want to bring this game up and relish in it. I'm sure you and your fellow fans will forever bring up the 52-24 beat down and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. As for your second statement, not going to disagree with you there. That's what makes Saban a bit more unique. Saban is simply a mastermind and knows what he's doing. Hopefully you fans feel fortunate having a coach like him.
