    Wow. This is insane. I had basically exact same thoughts as you about other vehicles before I put deposit on GX550 Overtrail + a week ago. One small difference- I do not like current GLS and I have old GL, but my wife got GLE53 recently and we LOVE it. lol. I am not alone!!

    Amazed how closely your cross-shop list mirrors my own, with the exception of Porsche/Audi. While I think the GLS is a super solid choice, I can't get over that mini-van silhouette. I agree somewhat with your thoughts on 4 cyl. powerplants, but just really prefer the instrument panel design and integration of the screen on the Land Cruiser, which I'm leaning toward at the moment. I appreciate that both GX Overtrail and LC are available without sunroof if you choose (a rarity today). I value the additional headroom, lower temps, and increased sound isolation.

      Love to hear it. You must have good taste then! Nothing wrong with the Land Cruiser - would be a great truck to own and enjoy for many years, especially if you’re nervous about the ttv6 stuff coming out about the tundras and Lx (though sounds like the GX might be safe from this 🤞) . Good luck with your decision!!

      @@NorthoftheWallGarage What I find perplexing is that all LC trim levels have 3-zone a/c with roof vents in 2nd row and in back. Not sure what Lexus is thinking with the Overtrail trim.

      Yep, I heard that In June 2024, Toyota recalled 102,092 2022 and 2023 Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX600 vehicles with V35A engines due to a potential issue with the crankshaft main bearings.

      There are absolutely zero GX's with engine failure. Good grief. The 2022 and 2023 Tundra and some Lexus 600 have been recalled. The recall is due to both shavings and port #1 oil bore poorly machined. They don't do the recall until they study the issue and come up with a fix. The aren't going to crank out a bunch of Lexus luxury vehicles with the same issue. Get your facts straight before spewing garbage.

    No concern for the engine failures that have impacted 100,000 V6 Turbo engines by Toyota/Lexus - the same one that sits in the new GX550?

    • @NorthoftheWallGarage
      @NorthoftheWallGarage  2 месяца назад +4

      Nope! If you read the recall it looks like it was a manufacturing debris issue that affected vehicles produced within a certain timeframe, which the gx550 falls out of. There’s a 7 year powertrain warranty in addition. Also, I have a bmw V10… if you know anything about catastrophic engine failure, you may have heard of those 😂 mechanical failures are rare when you keep up with maintenance and don’t run a car full throttle when it’s cold

    That’s interesting you said you don’t want something too flashy as your daily driver. That’s exactly why I’m leaving my BMW X5. Trucks on the road love to bully sorts cars. Not to mention there’s 1.5 billion more people on the planet since 2015. I feel it on the roads. I just don’t feel safe anymore unless I’m in something big. And from here forward I’ll never buy anything that isn’t body on frame for safety. I don’t mind paying higher fuel costs for the safety of body on frame and also the peace of mind and less anxiety. I can’t speed anymore like I could 15-20 years ago so the power of my x5 is wasted. It doesn’t matter which road you take or what time of day it is the roads are a deadly jungle.

      @@NorthoftheWallGarage Toyota made less land cruisers then lexus made lx 570’s. I think that’s why a used land cruiser cost more. I also like the adjustable hydraulic suspension in the lx 570.
