      You should've seen this coming at the World Relays at the Bahamas. You did decent in Field events but you over-relied on track events, particularly the sprints. Jamaica needs variety in athletics. That way if the sprints don't produce results you pick up other medals in other events like the field events. Why the JAAA doesn't diversify with all of the great athletic talent in Jamaica I don't know.

    Despite this Olympics being labelled as the worst, I want to thank our athletes for staying committed, donning the black, green and gold while representing themselves. The results no one is pleased with but we thank you for your hard work. Those who are injured we are hoping for quick recoveries as we look forward to seeing you next year. Rest up and be healed, we out there rooting for you all.

    Major factors contributing to team performance-1. Injuries , 2. Petty fighting between the JAAA & JOA including these bodies lack of support for field event athletes, 3. Host country poor handling of the OLYMPICS-France is the worst host I have seen

    Jamaica performance at the Paris Olympics was disastrous. It's the first time since the 1976 Olympics that a woman has never won a medal in the sprints. Was very sad to see considering how well Jamaica has been doing on the track since 2008. Sprinting is the national sport for Jamaica. The problem is Jamaica athletes are always injured.

    In 2021 and 2022, the 'big 3' where responsible for more than half of our medal total and 1/4 in 2023 (including the 4x1), the team suffered as a result of their absence. Instead of the usual 9-12, we got 6, essentially removing the big 3 cut our medal total. Then the injuries and illnesses of the women's team. I agree with your analysis Maverick, we were just salt, it wasn't to be our year. The team is young and will come back for 2028, until then, the focus for them is Tokyo 2025

    Nervousness was a strong confound to the perfornances of the Jamaican athletes at the 2024 Olympics. In preparation to compete in major championships, the Jamaican team should hire a provisional neuropsychologist to orient the athletes in techniques with which they can use nervousness as a reflexive complement to reinforce excelling in their feats of choice.

    Fair points. Young ones will come into their own in time. But i dont buy di salt argument😀. Injuries must be better managed. We need more specialists in that area. Coaching and preparation could be improved in certain areas. But we did well with limited resources. Administrators need to give account too.

    • @marmackk
      @marmackk 2 месяца назад +1

      Yeah but injuries never had anything to with Danielle Williams clipping the hurdles,or Ackera Nugent not finishing the race or dropping the baton in the 4x400 women or the men not qualifying for the 4x400

    • @TheRamikie
      @TheRamikie 2 месяца назад +1

      THIS is the critical comment. Luck is a factor but luck has to be met with preparation. We are struggling with injury management (even from Champs level), mindset coaching/prep, a more robust JAAA and JOA, etc. how can we fill these gaps to sustain our pipeline and stem the losses. That’s the analysis we need to hear, as that is more tactical given increasingly competitiveness of T&A. This “salt” analysis is missing this.

    Maverick, thanks for including the photo showing two of our late Greats 🇯🇲 in competition:
    Dr. Arthur Wint and Herb McKenley 5:35
    In 1948 Olympics, Wint and McKenley gave us Gold and Silver respectively in the 400m. Wint got Silver in the 800m. This was reportedly the first time that 🇯🇲 competed as a nation at the Olympics.
    In 1952 Olympics, Wint, McKenley, George Rhoden (now 97), and the late Leslie Laing won Gold in the 4 by 400m relay, doing so in world record time. For the 400m, Rhoden won Gold, and McKenley Silver.
    Apart from the Olympics, Wint, McKenley, and Rhoden individually won gold and silver at other international competitions. Rhoden and McKenley were also individual world record holders.
    🇯🇲 didn’t just start winning Gold medals and setting world records ’yesterday’. In good times and bad, we’ll keep building our athletics legacy. Wheel and come again 🇯🇲

    Jamaica did not get a single gold medal from the 2000 Olympics and we improved in 2004 and there was further improvement in 2008; so with the younger athletes coming through (baring injuries), the administrative bodies and the government getting their act together we should perform better for worlds and the next Olympics.

    Our athletes were unprepared for 2024, they were visibly lacking support and the leadership proved they are inadequate, incompetent, thoughtless, combative and all colluding to be thieves, misappropriating the funds set aside for athletics and the athletes. These officials time was better used to chat, brag, bully, manipulate and look for their own shine as opposed to getting Jamaican athletes prepared for the Olympics ahead of the actual competition and Olympic year. I did not truly realize that Jamaica was passively a dictatorship country because if you dare to complain you are abolished, ostracized and bankrupt for talking up or advocating for one’s self. This type of government must stop in 2024 where is the Jamaica land we love? They think we can’t make this change but let us show JOA & JAAA that the voice and vote of the country’s people will prevail we can stop their checks through sponsorship by posting and talking, complaining about their behavior or lack there of. I’m so sick of this, then can you imagine how much more our athletes have to endure 🤚🏾💔💯🙏🏾🇯🇲

    My take:- 1.There was too much bad energy from the onset with the JOA and JAAA - We need younger less egotistical persons who are in touch with reality to head these associations. 2. The lack of a comfortable space with ac had some effect on the performance of the athletes, how can they rest in that heat? - Did the management team have the same type of accommodation? 3. I think once you are taking an athlete for a particular event there MUST be a coach with the relevant technical skills in the camp to assist them. Yes we had some bad luck, but I do think that the JAAA thinks that what worked 30 years ago when it was cooler temperature and we had no athletes in field events should be replicated in 2024. Thanks to all the athletes for showing up and trying their best in the situation. We appreciate your effort. Next time we will get them!

    Maverick it is not our usual haul but let us be grateful and thankful to the Heavenly Father for what we received.. I pray Paris/France never host another Olympics for the rest of its existence on the earth. The opening ceremony was filled with too much evil. On the positive note this Olympics opened our eyes to our field events athletes and that is a good thing. Our athletes never had it easy in Paris, hearing on another channel that Alana Reid was racially profiled by the security when she was on her way to training. She indicated that she was grabbed up land manhandled ike a criminal. Very sad!!! May Almighty God deal with those security officers in the way they ought to be dealt with.

    Oral this is my two cents. We are very good at sprints. It's a surprise not to see any of our top sprinters run. I remember back in the days Merline Ottey always carry home some thing. They should have allowed Shelly Anne to enter the gate, since she already had a spot in the heat. We are a trying nation of 3 million
    Some countries have more than us😮 and got nothing. They will do better at the Diamond League
    . We have alot of young athletes that are doing pretty well😢😢😢😢😮 and will excell. Things will workout for the better. We will wheel and come back again. Keep Up The Good Work
    Blessings.

    God pulled me from the Paris Olympics. God is strategic. I missed the Opening Ceremony (Thank God). I accompanied a family member to an appointment and missed the whole Opening Ceremony. Then I heard what occurred at the Opening Ceremony; the freaks were out unapologetically, the mocking of my LORD'S Last Supper.. I did not watch anything. No opening, no closing and nothing in between, but like I say "all the credit goes to Almighty God. Not even to watch delayed events on RUclips...I did not do it. I heard random results from family and friends. Like.. KISHANE THOMPSON and NOAH LYLES becoming the new face of photo finish.. the poster kids , and Noah Lyles repeating what he did in the Tokyo Olympics.
    He declared then, " Bronze is boring." This time covid was responsible . The men's 4 × 100 m debacle.. nothing new for the US.. but if the Lord TARRIES, just look to see what will happen in LA 2028. It might cause Atlanta 1996 to look like child's play.
    Maybe Flo Jo's 10.49 might be shattered by an American woman .Who knows.
    All in all, it sounds as if this was the worst Olympics the world has seen thus far.
    Still proud of the land of my birth🇯🇲🇯🇲 and respect to my adopted country via naturalization 🇺🇲🇺🇲

    The Jamaican government ought to do something hard and fast to repair both the JAAA and the JOA, as both organizations are complacent, lazy, and reckless, thus ineffective. Heads should roll from Shelly's incident at the Paris Olympics. If little St Lucia could secure Julien Alfred for the country's first Gold medal, why couldn't Jamaica do the same for Shelly?!! If Jamaicans are saying that the Paris Olympics is Jamaica's Saltest Olympics, then there is some responsibility to be had in the lack of performance discipline among the athletes and the coaching staff as well. For example, why didn't Franno (The Head of....) and the MVP Track Club resolve Shericka's injury in time for the Olympics?!!!!!

    Preach, one 100 percent on the money. Usain Bolt and Shelly and Elaine put a spotlight on track and so everyone now putting their best foot forward. I always say Asafa world record was a blessing and a curse for him. Blessings he did well financially he won team Olympic gold but curse because it put a fire under other athletes which made his job much harder. Fair analysis sir.

    The dissapointment as I understand it stems from the lack (for whatever reason) of really competitive participation from our world class Atheletes on the track. Especially that we did not get the farewell from The GREAT Shelly - Pocket Rocket, so sad as we all love her so much. But our performance on the Field is amazing and we should celebrate their accomplishments. Jamaica to the WURL! Big up yourself!
