@@realbro1415 respectfully, I'm a white Canadian and never considered Ben other than Canadian and still do.
If you watched the doc 9.79, most everybody was cheating in that era ( and likely still are), unfortunately Ben became the scapegoat.
I was VERY close to the late great Angela Bailey and the inner circle rumors even back at the time were that he was framed and his sample was spiked.
At the Dubbin inquiry I believe his team admitted he was using , but not what he tested positive for.

Ben is too much of an introvert and a quiet person when they accuse them after the finals, he did not fight and Canada definitely did not even attempt to help him. He had the title of Canadian champion until he tested positive for drugs, after which they immediately changed his nationality to Jamaica.
As Jamaicans, we have supported him throughout and will continue to do so.
He is our people and we have an immense love for him...
As we watched his race in Jamaica, we were moved by the reaction of everyone, followed by the subsequent emotions of anger and sadness he experienced as well as the Jamaican people.

They reverted the WR back to 9.92 when they gave Carl Lewis the victory. To be under 9.8 before anyone else ever broke 9.9 is crazy. Similar to Usain Bolt breaking 9.6 before almost anyone else had ever broken 9.7 (Tyson Gay did with a 9.69 though). Ben was way ahead of his time, he was on par with Maurice Greene who also has a 9.79 PB (though Ben could have potentially went faster if not banned) & it wasn't really until Asafa Powell came along that his 9.79 time truly got passed (unless we count the one off 9.78 from Tim Montgomery).

First.... Ben is a really cool dude. Does a lot in the community with former and current sprinters. However... when they say "snitching" is frowned upon as part of "the code", it's not that you can't tell/reveal what happened. It's that if you're doing the act and get caught, you have to accept the consequences because YOU were involved. Doesn't matter what Jerry, Jim or Carl (😏) was doing as well. You make the decision to participate in a very elaborate doping regimen....if you get caught, you accept the punishment and move it along. And definitely don't get caught again (and then a thrid time) in the years following.

I really felt for Ben Johnson. He is absolutely correct that many or most athletes were using PED's but they went after him and caught him out.

And JUST WOW! Paris 2024 just finished and the IOC wants us to believe all those thousands of athletes were 100% clean. Ben was thrown under the bus to make it look like they were cleaning up the sport. Like Lance there just were so many more doing it.

Remember that day clearly, was blown away by his win, pleased he did not allow the disrespect by the Olympic authorities to destroy his life.

Few years ago I watched Daniel Gordon dcoumentary "9.79", and understood how bad Ben Johnson got treated, and what schemes took place behind the scenes.
Some people got away with murder, character assassination.
