We have seen him 4 or 5 times. The last time about 2 weeks ago. My husband & I are in our 60’s & have been going to see live music since we were 16. It’s what we do. Been to hundreds of shows from The Rolling Stones 5 times to the original Grateful Dead to U2, Coldplay, Reckless Kelly, Neil Young, The Eagles, Son Volt, Steve Earle, multiple times each of them. Jason Isbell live is one you don’t want to miss. It’s the kind of show that you’re thinking the entire time I need to bring so & so to see this, it is so fantastic. Every time we see him, all the way home we are like damn he’s good. The guitar playing is extraordinary. And believe there’s not a person that stays in their seat, everybody is up dancing, bopping & swaying to the beat. One of my all time favorites. Love, love, love me some Jason Isbell.
I hear you. I’m in my sixties and flew from Nova Scotia to Florida to see them. The four friends who live in Florida and came to the show are now fans, too.
I'm a big fan but just saw them this summer. Honestly I was not prepared--the musicianship is INSANE. Sadler and Jason pretty much both share lead guitar. Few singers out there does what Jason does live. Do yourself a favor and go!
It's hard to wrap your head around how top shelf every member of that band really is. AND the fact that somehow Jason is a better player than a lyric writer which is mind blowing in itself.
First time hearing this song. Worlds can’t express how touching this song and your performance of it is to me! You have the gift my friend! Thank you for sharing it with us all!
We were at this show. Drove 400 miles to Nashville from South Bend . It was so worth it. Saw Jason and the band last year and this performance kicked it up a notch or two. Hope to see him again soon !! Its also nice to see it on youtube since the guy sitting it front of me blocked most of the show.
Ok … I’ve been a fan since the Drive By Truckers… I’m a little old Im a Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark fanatic!! Jason is the first songwriter I’ve heard on that level … Jason is my next Townes/Clark I never thought I would witness this level of songwriting again
Saw this show in Memphis tn on sept16. Second time seeing him. I want forget it. Best concert I’ve been to in a long time. My wife was skeptical but she went and is converted now.
Yes it is - and my song 'The Baron of Minnesota' - got me locked up in Ward 400, for a few days, then it all got much much worse... ...no exageration needed - a great protest song can get a man kill't in this so called United states.
For pure musicianship, song writing and live performance these guys and Tedeschi-Trucks band are at the top of their games. Who says there isn't any good music anymore??
For yall that dont know, drummer Chad Gamble is Brother to Al Gamble of St. Paul and the Broken Bones. They had the Gamble Bros. Band which is so so good. Please give them a listen and thank me later.
I wish I understood more about how he and Sadler play off one another. It seems like such a hard thing to do but this version of KoO is out of this world......anyone else know where Amanda has been on this tour? She seems conspicuously absent and he seems to maybe not be wearing a ring....not meaning to gossip, just seem super curious.
Speaking of thins that go by in 24 frames, it has been proven the Zapruder Bell & Howell camera was running at slo-mo speed - 24 fps. The Ghost of JFK wants you all to know he was taken out by VP eLBJ, CIA director Dulles and Gay Edger thehoover, AND, and, Nixon was there the night before to help plan it all, too. over and out.
Wonderful to see Sadler playing some lead, Jason may be an awesome guitarist but he's comfortable enough not to have to play every lead part himself. Charlie Starr are you watching? Paul Jackson always looks scared to touch his guitar!!
We cant ask for an artist to shut up. They have to speak, otherwise theyd not be artists, even we disagree. I disagree with Jason? Yes! But he is a treasure! So I choose to love his music and nothing else. Bty, the album Reunions is really good too. Helped me thru Lockdown.
For those of you who don’t know, ‘when we were close’ is about Justin Townes Earle, who passed away in 2020. I would strongly recommend you check out the statement put out by Justin’s wife, you can find it on Justin’s old socials. It’s really low for Jason to have written this song in my eyes, and it’s not his place at all.
Steve Earle gave his blessing. Also, Jason had his own history and relationship with JTE aside from the wife. The song is full of anger and pain, survivor’s guilt. It’s a harsh look at the ugly reality of addiction
I mean who are you to judge? As the song and title goes they were once close but had a falling out, bad enough they haven't speak to each other much after. So should a random musician that had no connection to JTE at all do a song about him and I'll ask you this: will that song have a meaning and rhyme to it at all?

And it's THE BEST sound quality EVERY TIME!
I hear you. I’m in my sixties and flew from Nova Scotia to Florida to see them. The four friends who live in Florida and came to the show are now fans, too.
Love this.
He's one of the greatest songwriters ever!
I agree. @jasonisbell is a force. We attended one of hks concerts this summer. Completely amazing!!😊
Have to see this band live . Hands down the Best Band out there right now . Dallas / Ft Worth .
I'm a big fan but just saw them this summer. Honestly I was not prepared--the musicianship is INSANE. Sadler and Jason pretty much both share lead guitar. Few singers out there does what Jason does live. Do yourself a favor and go!
I was there. A fantastic show!!
True, but his big brothers Patterson and Cooley are still laying it down well in DBT
Tedeschi Trucks band are out there, so that's not quite right.
Yeah they're a great band but far from "the best out there right now."
Best in the world right now. Hands down.
Best in the alt country biz. I saw the night when Amanda opened and was dumbfounded.
Agreed. Saw in august. So good ruclips.net/video/L8FrUlc_i_w/видео.htmlsi=4NBKH7eyrqxsyw5g
Agreed
It's hard to wrap your head around how top shelf every member of that band really is. AND the fact that somehow Jason is a better player than a lyric writer which is mind blowing in itself.
That part "for a minute there you're still aliiiiiive"is so beautiful.
Sadler playing slide on that Rickenbacker is something else
Sure looks and sounds like an SG to me.
24 Frames: Rickenbacker with slide
When We Were Close: SG
First time hearing this song. Worlds can’t express how touching this song and your performance of it is to me! You have the gift my friend! Thank you for sharing it with us all!
Jason got me through the pandemic…listened 24/7. He never stops being the best. Thank you for sharing this.
I lived for the weekly live broadcasts they put on.... Iso Lounging!
Saw him at Red Rocks this weekend. The greatest songwriter of his generation and a fantastic guitar player to boot.
We were at this show. Drove 400 miles

I definitely hear some classic Neil Young and Crazy Horse in their jams.
Last song on Weathervanes "miles" was SO "Young"....It still doesn't feel like a 7 minute song
Ok … I’ve been a fan since the Drive By Truckers… I’m a little old
Im a Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark fanatic!! Jason is the first songwriter I’ve heard on that level … Jason is my next Townes/Clark
I never thought I would witness this level of songwriting again
Don't forget about James McMurtry. All those guys lead me to Isbell. Cut from the same cloth.
This version of King of Oklahoma ROCKS! Absolutely awesome.
OMG, so right!
That solo!
@@JayBuff19boffem
jesus those are some blistering solos on King of Oklahoma
His performances at the Ryman are the best of his best, which is actually the best of the rest!
Been listening to a lot of Jason Isbell and I have a new favorite artist
Will has been such a great addition. His vocals especially on the high stuff are amazing!
And as Jason will tell you, he hits the gong :).
It is almost unfair to add Will to this band. I have been listening to him since the Centromatic days.@@soavero
Wow. So, so good. No one compares at the moment
I have such a man crush on this man…amazing artist and killer guitarist!
Jason, Sadler and band keeping rock and roll alive! And real well!!
The ONE the ONLY , Jason Isbell , thanks for sharing your music with us brother . AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn that refrigerator. God bless _Jason_
What a set!
I caught TTB last year which moves these guys and gals up to number 1 on my list of must see
Saw him in February. Will see him again this summer. Great songs. Great band
Greetings from a Mexican fan
Was there. Life changing.
We were there. He did a great job and loved his music!!
Saw this show in Memphis tn on sept16. Second time seeing him. I want forget it. Best concert I’ve been to in a long time. My wife was skeptical but she went and is converted now.
Simply one of the best ever
Absolutely enthralling songwriting and musicianship.
Jason is in 'Flowers of the Killer Moon".....Go get em Jason!!!
We were at the last three shows, just incredible and each very different.
Jimbo looks different without his hat on... Great performance as always. These guys are just the best
Man, chill Jason and Sadler. That version of King of Oklahoma was perfect. The dueling guitar solos.
I miss Jimbo Hart on stage ❤️
So much.
I wish him well, and a speedy return. 👏🏴🎸🇺🇸
Missing Jimbo, and props to Anna Butterss who’s doing a great job stepping in.
Is he sick? Love seeing that dude
Jimbo's been grindin hard for a long time and had some things to address before continuing the journey @@sethie_shots
Wish you well Jimbo ….❤
I hate hyperbole but King of Oklahoma is one of the best rock songs ever written.
Yes it is - and my song 'The Baron of Minnesota' -
got me locked up in Ward 400, for a few days, then it all got much much worse...
...no exageration needed - a great protest song can get a man kill't in this so called United states.
Agree 💯
Chad is a beast on the drums.
Yes! He is unreal. Power and swing--a rare combination. I've seen them live four times now than they never cease to amaze.
Sound guys/gals did a great job, sounds amazing on an iphone!
I was there. it was amazing.
Never disappoint. Great work!
Jason is absolutely amazing. And the social Justice he and Amanda Shires promote is heartening. The music and their hearts, genius.
What is social justice, exactly?
I love this. I do miss Amanda on the fiddle, though. Oh well, time marches on. I hope they both find peace.
He just gets better and better, can’t wait to see him again if he comes back to Australia 🎸
Jimbo we miss you. Be strong bro….
In not a religious man but I feel like I've just been to church.
For pure musicianship, song writing and live performance these guys and Tedeschi-Trucks band are at the top of their games. Who says there isn't any good music anymore??

Good job Derry! Except for that one night in SLC...
When and how do you get the full show footage!
Is the full show available to watch?
What are house shoes? Slippers?
It's a more southern version of slippers.
yes ma'am
What was happening outside the place that Jason felt compelled to mention it?
Anyone know if there’s a way to watch the entire live stream?
Anyone know what happened to the full show that was posted on RUclips?
Loving that distinct cowbell on _When We Were Close_
Anyone know where Jimbo is on bass?
Jimbo has been on hiatus for about six months, due to some undisclosed mental health issues. Hoping he gets back at some point.
At the intersection of Neil Young & Lou Reed
Only 100% better
I wish I understood more about how he and Sadler play off one another. Jason filed for divorce in mid-December.

@@JeffWooster-bo9ku thank you, GB!!
Anna is way cool. Saw them two weeks ago.
Where’s Jimbo??
Decided to leave the band. He had taken a break, but sounds like he's decided to move on.
jason urban
The new Neil Young
Where's Jimbo?
Left the band to do other things. Sad to see him go.
Wonderful to see Sadler playing some lead, Jason may be an awesome guitarist but he's comfortable enough not to have to play every lead part himself. Charlie Starr are you watching? Paul Jackson always looks scared to touch his guitar!!
His audience no move
I've seen him live 3 times....I can guarantee you, his audience is mesmerized by his talent
@@picturerenee1574 people were mesmerized by Jerry Garcia’s talent they still moved
Oh buddy, you don’t know what your talking about.
prove me wrong boss@@robpolk4469
please don't start about the Grateful Dead...lol
Completely missed the bass line in this. Shame.
Super lame audience! Why is no one rocking’ out?
I wish he would just shut up and play sometimes but I cant deny his talent.
The new album is my favorite since Southeastern.
Have you watched the video?
