During covid period, Chanel & Louis Vuitton increased their prices while other brands starts giving discounts. This says so much just on brand itself. Hermes stay constant...🤣
I don't like watching videos like this because it makes me second guess my choices when buying designer bags. What ever happened to buying a bag because your just in love with it? When I purchase a bag, I don't have resale value in mind. I don't buy pre loved because I had a bad experience. I do try to get a sale but my main reason is because I just love the bag. Is that bad choosing?
I think you got it spot on! I still buy bags with poor resale value but it's just something I use to gauge how much I love a certain luxury item before paying for it xx
Balenciaga City Bag is very light , practical, fits a lot of stuff and goes well with any outfits. Mine got stolen. It's the most useful designer bags I ever have.
I wonder how mini bags will fare as technology changes. Once we all wear smart watches with contactless pay, we won't need much in our bags. Maybe it'll mean mini bags get even more popular!

Very informative information Eileen. I was in a position only last week where a 'friend of a friend' was willing to swap a 30cm black Birkin bag for my 25cm black Birkin bag. I have touched upon this bag before, as I bought it thinking it was so cute then discovered that I could not fit all of my rubbish in it!! I bought mine around 10 years ago and it has been used around 5 times (a really bad investment on my part!) However, she was unable to prove the authenticity of it: no papers, box, dust bag, etc. Although she seemed 100% legit (with more money than sense) I had a bad feeling and chickened out. Maybe the universe is forcing me to hang onto this bag to remind me not to be so dumb with my hard-earned cash! 🙈

I would however consider selling it to someone I knew who did not require shipping. Where there is the possibility of someone scamming me, no (eBay, etc). I would lose too much on a third party seller's commission if I went down that route, so again no. Just too hard......for me 🙈 My lesson is learnt.......I think!

The psychology of people buying a handbag at a price that exceeds 10x its cost to manufacture is totally mind blowing! The so called rarity of some of these bags is not real; there are hundreds of Birkins and Chanel’s listed in the 2nd hand market! How can someone consider a handbag which is prone to wear and tear with a very limited life an investment? A good litmus test for any great art is people would draw to the design without knowing the logo! That YSL flap bag is made, and looks as good, if not better than a Chanel bag. I understand to each his/her own that people are entitled to spend their money for their own pleasure; however, just don’t mislead the masses that these things are rare or investment quality!
Hi, your advice are very true. Chanel came out with caviar new mini as they see an opportunity in the demand. Many stores are oos and some customers are put on waiting list. They are not the usual classic type (seasonal bag) but they definitely able to capture many of the customer looking for minis. I have seen Ebay seller reselling this bag at almost 20% above the retail price and this is insane. Many of them are buying causing oos and reselling at the high price.
How do you feel about the ware and tear on the Chanel mini patent leather ? Between enjoy your Channel, I recently found your channel and you really provide good opinions :)
To be honest, the patent leather has held up really well. I've not seen any wear and tear. I usually make sure I leave it in it's dust bag when I don't use it xx

Unfortunately I think Chanel prices will keep going up. Inflation is a norm for luxury brands anyway but Chanel has been getting too excited and I have a feeling they will keep heading in that direction xx

Tadelakt leather is a good option for structure too but more rare than epsom. it is a smooth leather so similar to box so you will see scratches easily.

Both bags look very classy! I think the silhouette is pretty timeless for both bags but I'm more drawn to the YSL as it seems a bit more versatile in the sense that it can be dressed up or down xx
I absolutely love it! It's really comfy to carry and it's easy to open and close. I use it a lot for travel and weekends. However, I do pay more attention when I'm wearing a cashmere top as the metal studs on the bag can causing a bit of piling on my cashmere pieces xx

Yinglin If I couldn’t get it in Epsom, what is the next best pls?
Box leather is very stiff too so it will keep the shape well but it's very prone to getting scratches xx
