  • I used Saffrax Odor-CL02 Chlorine Dioxide to remove the musty smell in my 2013 Police Interceptor Utility. It worked great but I neglected to read the instructions which resulted in accidently bleaching part of my carpets. I was able to fix it using SEM carpet dye in a can.

Try the SEM Landau Black, I think it is a better match for the OEM carpet color.

Yeah just remember to pour the water first and have tabs pre counted so you can just dump them in and then hurry and get out of the car. The vapors are some nasty stuff and can damage your lungs. If you want to be real safe wear a vapor mask if you have one.
Leave it overnight and in morning open the car doors for 30 min to get initial heavy vapor out. Then close the doors and roll down windows and leave it rest of day to get any lingering heavy chemical smell out. One thing to note is not to park in garage or under a tree (birds may be in it and highly sensitive to vapor) or by anything breathing or living because the fumes are toxic as hell in high concentrations.

Can i use this in the sunlight? would it discolor the interior of my car if i do so?

Yes you can use it in sunlight, that has no effect on the reaction of the tablets and water. If you are worried about discoloration just use a deeper container and the vapors will rise and not spread so low initially. Put a white bath towel over the center console and seats and place container on top and then place the tabs in there. Make sure you put water in first then dump the tabs in. The vapors are something nasty and can cause lung issues with delayed effects. Use a vapor mask if you have one. If not remember pour water in first then have the tabs pre counted that way you can toss them in and get out fast. Store any unused tab in a container that will not get humid or wet, otherwise it will cause vapors. It’s nothing to play with.
I have full black interior leather and nothing was even slightly discolored and I used a high concentration.(more than this guy did). It does leave a strange chemical odor after that will take a week or 2 to fully go away. remember to let it sit overnight for max effect then, open car doors in morning and let it sit for 30 min then close the doors and leave windows down the rest of the day so main vapors can dissipate. Don’t park car in garage, under a tree or near anything living and breathing because the vapors are toxic in these concentrations. Follow label instructions.

The reaction is exothermic as you can see. Add the tablets to the water, not the water to the tablets.
