Gay Bear it’s my dream gun. Got close last week. Lost on a auction. Next day I bought a FNX45 tactical and p320 x compact with Romeo 2 pro rmr. 2 g gone.
This is one of if not the only modern handgun that was specified and designed to be a primary military assault weapon, not a backup self-defence gun. Also literally the most durable automatic handgun of all time.
That thumbnail is worth a thousand nuts. I've never seen a Mk23 with a Match comp, but now that I have I'll never be able to look at a normal one the same again.
One of my favorite pistols I have ever owned. Still gutted that I sold mine years ago to open my business. This and my desert eagle are the ones I miss the most. I will get another one someday.
No matter how rare and expensive a gun is there’s always the “I put 10 million rounds through mine without a single malfunction,” guy in every comment section.
Randy Bob oh and you know those guys are out there. And they always just lie to themselves and say it was the ammo every time, like a beaten wife who makes excuses for her abusive husband.
I did run over 10k rounds thru my USP 45 and over 5k thru my USP 40. One day the .40 gave me 3 malfunctions from the same box of ammo. That case it was the ammo (ammo was under spec when checked with a gauge). Last time I used it, I was having failures to fire, took it apart, and saw a retention spring that was incredibly dirty (the one in the grip). Cleaned it, didn't have anymore issues. That said, it was built in 1995, and I bought the .40 second hand and put atleast 5k rounds thru it myself. Also, I have owned 5 glocks, and had only 1 that gave me jamming issues. So it's really a preference.
Hands down the best handgun I've ever had. 2 inch groups at 50 yards every time (machine test). I'm a fairly large fellow, and so actually carried it for a couple years. 😂
Congrats on the Gundies nomination, but after looking at the website, I'm really disappointed that Paul Harrell didn't get any nominations (not that I saw, anyway.)
Just an FYI, IF anyone wants a match-style fully adjustable (windage and elevation) sight set for the Mark 23, you won't find one. BUT, I have discovered that LPA makes a fully adjustable match sight set for the H&K P7 that does fit the Mark 23 and it works extremely well.
Hi Chris. The reason that the big lady is not snappy is due to the well designed double recoil spring that HK developed for the MK23 and that was carried over to the USP series. Greetings from Switzerland. Chris
Bought a mark 23 today $2,119.94, ordered 2 extra mags $105.89, a tactical bag $89.95, 1 mag extension $39.95, 10 extra barrel orings in black color $49.95....thank god for tax returns and your gun reviews
Bought a 2020 date code (CA) Mark 23 on the final day of the Trump admin, $2.099.95 plus tax. Bought it because 45Super ammo from manufacturers like Buffalo Bore has not gone up during this ammo Insanity. Ordered 2 cases of 700 ft/lb 45Super BJHP. The Mark 23 is so overbuilt it can shoot 460 Rowland after having the chamber cut 1/16" deeper. Few production 45acp handguns can shoot 45Super without blowing apart. The Mark 23 is the ONLY one I'm aware of that can handle 460 Rowland with just a chamber trim.
Definitely a grail gun for me. Although a bit disappointed to learn about the less than ideal grip for big hands. Thanks Outlaw. You should totally win best shooter award.
You support the local homeless shelter; you include your wife...she includes you. You both like and shoot guns well. = YOU WON ALREADY!! ...to me anyway. You two ROCK. Don't care about contests, thats not why I subscribed. :) Thanks Mr & Mrs. H.O.
I'm an Hk fanboy and love my Mark23, but agree with you that the grip is a little wonky and it's not the easiest gun to shoot. But, it is dead nuts accurate when you do it right. Looking forward to the full review. Love your channel and your videos, and your wife seems like a great lady. Loved her "good lord" comment. You're doing things right, God bless.
I had a chance to buy it last year, was new fir $1800, but I choose USP Elite for half price and I think Elite has better trigger. ) . But probably I had to buy both)))
" The first crew- served handgun" - they're pretty cool, add the whisper can and the light/laser module and you're almost better off with an sbr- interesting development process though-the whole OHWS trials are pretty entertaining.
Please take into consideration that this gun was designed back in the 90’s and designed to be an offensive weapon. I bought a USP 45 with a bracket and holosight scope just because of it. I should have spent that $$ on the MK23 , hindsight. But anyway its a 90s design that will not have the obvious slickness of the best triggers we have now but Yeah for a 45 it was a really decent recoil eating monster. Throw a can on that thing and test it too please.
Make sure the o-ring on the barrel is in good shape, it should be keeping the barrel centered where it comes out the front of the slide. They're good for about 20k rounds, but given the abuse most of these guns got/get, they can go in less time than that. If it's in place and doing its job, you shouldn't be having a problem with accuracy.
Holy shit, dude. This Gundies category for Most Influential is HARD. Just a quick scan, I see TGC, MRGUNSNGEAR, Warrior Poet Society, Colion Nior, Garand Thumb and MAC! Scandalously, no Hickock45 or Paul Harrell. No love for old blood, I guess.
Completely coincidentally, I talked about Mark 23 with a guy who had those issued. He said, there was a lot of hype for the gun, but when it arrived, the operators went back to P226 very quickly. His complaints were vague, however. He said the gun was too large, especially with suppressor. Well, duh.
The difference between this and a 1911 is that this gun is chambered for and can easily handle 45super hollowpoints whereas a 1911 will choke and die with 45+p and/or any hollowpoints. Mk23 is also the most tested reliable gun on the planet so yeah, I'll gladly take my $2,000 mk23 over a $3,000 1911 any day of the week

As for the trigger, in your full review will you measure the trigger pull weight in DA & SA? When I bought my USP40 (when it came out) the gun store installed Trijicon sights on it before I picked it up. Somewhere between my purchasing it, their in in-house gunsmith and passing the waiting period, my second mag "disappeared". Then I took it to my local, much more trustworthy gun shop, and had the gunsmith do the trigger. It has to be done. These high weight of pull "Lawyer triggers" are garbage. It was probably around 12 DA/6 SA before and now is about half that for both. The gun shoots great but you have to be careful when you go to SA that you don't pull the trigger accidentally. No loose grip on the pistol. However, it makes "double tapping" extremely easy if you are on your game. Moving to Idaho someday and looking forward to adding one of the these to my collection (you can't buy them in CA, fucking Demonrats) so very much interested in seeing your full review.
