I got a 2023 Wildwood Select 60’s and I have to say it is by far the best Les Paul I have ever owned and as far as Wildwood goes they are absolutely the best customer service I have come across. Their Select Les Pauls cost the same as any other LP Standard but you actually get much more. The pups in them are a great upgrade over the stock Burstbuckers and the tops are nothing short of amazing. Then the customer service is the very best in the business. I’m sure a lot of customers say it but I truly mean it when I say I will be purchasing all my gear through Wildwood. I in no way have much money as I am a disabled Vet and can’t work but what little I spend each year or two I feel I will be treated like a rock star by George and the others from Wildwood they totally care about their customers’ experience and satisfaction and that is something I believe you can only get at a smaller shop. I just believe anyone who purchased through Wildwood would feel the same. I’m not paid or anything like that I just feel like sharing a great experience especially these days is important with funds at a premium we should get at least what we pay for.
I just ordered a 50’s wildwood select, I’m having a lot of difficulty waiting on it, but listening to those pups of yours, I know it’s gonna be well worth the wait. Thanks
Wildwood arguably does the best special runs/models of any shop in the US. Standards, customs, Gibson, Fender, they do a great job of specifying their own tweaked versions with the manufacturer that improve on the stock versions (imo).
I have bought several LP's from wildwood and they are a great company. I ended up selling both my hand picked top LP's due to neck size shape etc, but I just ordered a 60's custom shop top in bourbon from them that is only 8.7 lbs. It's top is better than 90% of the tops on their customs they have in stock. I also like that they will play them for you and give opinions on sound, finish etc. I have had them refuse to sell me guitars in the past because they sounded dull or had an issue.
Guitar George, that’s a stunning LP I purchased one at Christmas time and am so thrilled with it. I had a totally awesome experience from customer service all the way to being thrilled with everything about my guitar, did you experience the same? I wish I knew how to post a picture here with my comment to let everyone see how consistently awesome these special guitars are 👍.
People didn't really like those '59 Tribute PAFs when they first came out. I always thought that they had a sweetness that Burstbuckers (any of them) don't. I had no idea they were available in these Wildwood guitars. Super-cool. Fantastic demo. Your playing at the beginning is just awesome and soulful. Bravo.
The set up on this one is good, so it stays in tune just fine luckily haha. If you get it set up right and the nut if cut properly you should have no issues. The tuners are just "ok" though, nothing to brag about
Very cool man! I have two wildwood spec 50s les Paul. My number one (see my avatar for an actual pic wildwood sent me when I was originally looking at it) is also a 50s unburst. Very similar color as yours but kind of wider flames. But yea man, quality guitar. When I got my unburst (had gotten a honey burst a year prior) it was actually feeling a bit rough, like the frets didn’t feel good. I contacted wildwood and they paid to fed ex it back to them for a set up! When I got it back it was like butter and is now the undisputed # 1 guitar for me. The pick ups are awesome but I did swop put the bridge for a higher output pup, but that neck pick up is excellent. I can definitely get almost strat like tones with this guitar with the right amp / EQ configuration. Excellent guitars. Awesome playing man. 🎸
@guitar_george just a question. I couldn tell from the angle. Do they set the guitar up with the tail stop all the way down and strings toughing the back of bridge?
@@guitar_george i see so many people and techs say to raise it off the back of bridge. Could break strings/collapse bridge.. beginner here so Im just doing my home work..
I have an Epi ‘59, pretty good, but the neck pick up is a little boomy. I have my eye on a Gibson Standard 60’s, i like the slimmer neck. I really liked the one you had… but you’re new 50’s in unburst is also super nice
This 50s is way more my style, but the 60s was a great guitar too. If you're gonna get a 50s standard I wouls highly recommend getting a wildwood spec. The pickups are top notch and they typically come with really nice tops too. Also try and adjusting your pickup height of they are too boomy. Hope that helps!
@@guitar_george I definitely agree. I have both guitars. A 2020 first run of the Inspired by Gibson Les Pauls, Mine is in Heritage cherry burst. I have to say though that the Burstbucker 2 &3 pick ups are quite good in that they are unpotted and have a very bright, airy tone. They are the best part of the Epi model along with the 50's era wiring plus the Mallory caps and CTS pots. A HUGE value for the buck. BUT, I also have the 2022 1950 Wildwood Select Original Gibson Les Paul in Dark Cherry Burst. As you mentioned, at three times the price it is a Superb Les Paul. It lacks nothing!!! I too really love the tone provided by the Wildwood "special 59 PAF's". I did not know they were Alnico 3's. Thanks for that bit of info. Nice playing in your demo!! One last thing. The 59 Les paul's and the early run of 1960 Burst's were the most likely to fade from the light sensitive red dye. So MANY 59's Bursts can be called Unburst's. By the second run of the 1960's burst, the red dye had been changed to be much more fade resistant. With the 60's era knobs and the faded top with a 59 neck profile. It seems to me that you have a beautiful example of a first run 1960's unburst with 1959 spec's. Congratulations!!! Bryan
Enjoy that thing! Stunning in every way!
Oh I will! I can't put it down
Beautiful I'm jealous
Thank you! It's an awesome guitar

Shopping at a small shop definitely has is benefits. Thank you for your service 🫡
Beautiful tone ! Some nice playing, very pretty LP.
I appreciate the kind words, my friend!
WOW!!! TONE, Playing and what a beaut!
Thank you!!
One of the most beautifull les paul ever
❤ gorgeous guitar

Great choice! Enjoy it
Beautiful guitar. Nice playing. I have a standard in Unburst as well ('60s) and I love it.
thank you! love me some unburst
Great into.

I love all their stuff. The customer service is great too
Beautiful guitar, has that twank sound. Gibson beauty and Fender sound. Best of both.
TWANK! That is the perfect way to describe it

Gorgeous tones. Mojo all the way.
Thanks 🙏 this guitar deff has the mojo

Loving that wide flame! Also I agree with the strat like tones coming from the pickups. They're very quacky.
Great guitar! Do you by any chance remember the string gauge and brand you had on it for this video?
Thank you! I had 10-46 Ernie balls or DR blues. I don't quite remember which but those are the only two I use
@guitar_george just a question. I couldn tell from the angle. Do they set the guitar up with the tail stop all the way down and strings toughing the back of bridge?
@@astapovich940 yeah great question. I have the stop bar tail piece as low as I could. I feel it resonates better that way
@@guitar_george i see so many people and techs say to raise it off the back of bridge. Could break strings/collapse bridge.. beginner here so Im just doing my home work..
@@astapovich940 I would say just try both and see what your hands tell you!
what is the backing track you're playing over?
@@patrickcasey357 something I found on RUclips. I got copywrite struck for it 😅
So fresh and so sweet
Sounds really sweet. How’s the top carve on those?
Thanks! In my experience alnico 3 pickups are the sweetest. The carve is nicely done, but not the deepest I've ever seen
Thank you!! It's a beauty
Sounds awesome...what amp were you plugged into?
Thank you! I'm plugged into the mesa boogie mark V 25. The blues was the "fat" channel and the driven part was the mark ii c+ channel
Sweet top...much like my 2019 60's unburst in which i waited for a great top for nearly a year! Top on you're's is better. Enjoy in great health👍🏼👍🏼😁
Tune it! And find the grove.
How would you say it compares to the Epiphone’59?
It's much, much better in every way! But three times the price

Dynamite I have the same guitar and dark cherry love it!
You need a Marshall
I'm trying to get less gear, not more! 😂 I had a JCM 800 and a marshall 4x12 but it just didn't fit in my apartment so I had to sell it
No excessive noise complaints there.....Yeah right.....🙂
