    • @Mason_N.
      @Mason_N. 5 лет назад +4

      @@leogibson3450 I agree to a point but people were already getting tired with Gibson's poor quality control and never listened to what the customer want in there guitars, plus prices were ridiculously high for one Gibson les paul standard. Now them dropping there price down is right at the mark, there still expensive enough to work torward to get but are still more affordable plus the quality and the guitars people want are back.

    • @vuriby
      @vuriby 5 лет назад +3

      Not sure tbh... Because their expensive guitars still are expensive, but their cheaper guitars... Aren't cheap anymore. It might actually result in less sales.
      I expected more from the new guy. They sound really good, they made good choices... But the QC still isn't as good as it should be. Sure it couldn't be easy to fix, but then don't sell the stripped down model for almost a grand.
      That said, it still is a good start... It's just that the hype was a bit too high.

    • @elevenAD
      @elevenAD 5 лет назад +4

      Lps are not really relevant to many of the younger up and coming players, and the old guys aint getting any younger, imo Gibson need to attract some new blood or die a slow death,maybe rock a Studio or SG Standard with fishmans or a Faded with Roasted maple neck! maybe offer an Evertune equipped Explorer, anything to attract some new players.

  • @HerrMeier007
    @HerrMeier007 5 лет назад +52

    Even though I never had much of a problem with the newer take on the Les Paul Standard, I do love the fact that they have gone back to basics with this new range. Because now you know exactly what you're getting from a Les Paul Standard, at a really good price point!

    • @daemonelectricity
      @daemonelectricity 5 лет назад +4

      I know they can't do one for every possible configuration, but the one thing I like that sort of became a standard on the Epiphone side was the push/pull pots. That seems like one of those things that doesn't get in the way if you don't use it and doesn't otherwise drastically affect the guitar if you don't. I would've liked to see that become standard just because it adds so much flexibility to the guitar, but yeah, it's good to see the prices come back down to earth.

    • @HerrMeier007
      @HerrMeier007 5 лет назад +1

      Daemon Electricity I think you have to go completely back to basics to satisfy the masses. And also it's like a hundred quid to add push pull pots afterwards. So if you add that to the 1999 pounds, you're still way under the price of last years traditionals and standards!

    • @daemonelectricity
      @daemonelectricity 5 лет назад

      @@HerrMeier007 I'm not sure how these Burstbuckers are, but the Burstbucker 2 and 3 I bought back in early 2007 didn't have 4 leads for coil splitting/tapping. I'm not sure how these will be. Mine are also unpotted and man, it really seems to be the difference between PAF clones that are close but not quite as treble-y, and being a lot closer to what most of the actual PAFs sound like. The downside is that they are super microphonic. I can literally talk into my pickups and it comes through the signal. It also doesn't do feedback very well and picks up on clicks from hitting the full sweep of a pot and flipping the pickup selector switch.

    • @dstateswimmer
      @dstateswimmer 4 года назад

      Daemon Electricity I can say my experience since having bought my Les Paul standard this last Sunday. I hear no clicks when using the pickup selector or rolling the pots. I love raunchy gain and haven’t had any feedback issues as of yet, so maybe they fixed that issue!

    These vid's are a supplement and guide to us shop at home consumers. There is a need for lengthy play through's and many words spoken. I want to hear it all and i want to go to six or seven channels and see what is similar and what is different. They are entertainment but they are information too.
    I maybe should voice this on a product at a lower price point and quality than the Standard's from Gibson, but i just don't want the Anderton's crew to think that shorter is better, and i often feel that is the goal. Lee, i know your time is consumed by these vid's, and there is always a list of to do's, but keep the length up for those that still have attention spans of adults.

    Hi guys. 2022 now. I really like when you demo guitars "clean" without pedals so we can hear what the guitars actually sound like. Most everyone's on line demos use too many pedals and we never get to really hear and enjoy the actual sound of the guitars. With and without reverb is a good choice, but with pedals also. These are beautiful and great sounding Gibson's. Your playing is always wonderful and enjoyable to hear. Thank You again from Mobile, Alabama.

    I think Pete is correct, the 50s sounds way more Les Paulish... especially with both pickups played together ... the 60s sounds funny by comparison. Just add some Grover’s or Soerzel and you got a serious rock and blues machine. Good catch Pete!!!

    Wow! Some of the best blues rock riffs I've heard since the late '60s. Enjoyed watching Lee letting us see a glimpse of what he can do. Pete is a mind blowing technical whiz and talent and makes one think they'll never be able to play that good - of which may be true. However, Lee can play real 1960's - 1970's blues rock licks so good till it makes one want to get out the black lights and posters, light one up and put "Thirty Days In the Hole" on the record player. That's the kind of feeling I like to experience when I'm listening to r&r and blues rock.

    I've got a 2012 Les Paul with the push/pull pots. It's amazing - i get a wonderful out of phase Peter Green sound from the pots. Apart from that it's absolutely my GO TO guitar. There is an issue with the second fret, it is too short on the high E side, so when i bend that string it sinks into a tiny gap between the fret and the beading (binding?) You know what i mean. I mean i can't play the Intro/Outro to Achilles Last Stand as you need to do a bend/pull off on the high E second fret. Every other part of the guitar is fabulous. Gibson DO just need to get their QC in order.

I'm retired military and they were going to give me 10% but one of the salesmen said he had a 20% card he could give away and I told them I'd walk out with the 60s Standard Triburst (they had two Bourbon bursts, one was a scratch and dent). Definitely a good move by Gibson. Give people a Les Paul that was the original design. I own a 2013 Les Paul Standard and although I admit it's a very nice guitar, I'm not in love with all the push/pull knob stuff. It only provides a weak bland tone in single coil modes. Useful only with certain gain settings. I only use it as a Les Paul. Great work Gibson on the new model.

    21:18 I think previous pots were indeed ‘linear’. These they’re calling ‘audio taper’ which should be an exponential curve - just like you’d find as default in a DAW. Linear curves don’t sound even just like how we hear frequencies more logarithmically than linearly.
    As you were.
