Could you please explain the difference in "Wildwood Spec" PAFs? Are they underwound or use a specialty wire? Just curious as my CS burst has them and I love them. Thanks John
I love my Wildwood 62 custom yellow black guard telecaster. The neck is so comfortable and the hand wound Josefina Twisted Tele pickups are just killer!! Best sounding tele I've ever played and owned.
I’ve a Wildwood Select 59 - one of the LPs they select the top for - I spoke to Bruce who literally asked a ton of questions and listed to everything I offered. The result is a LP Standard at $2700 that is every bit as good as my R9. I absolutely love this guitar
I always love hearing you guys talk about Wildwood! I live literally 5 minutes away from them, always cool to see people talking about my hometown shop
One of the more notable examples of Wildwood's 'credentials' is that they were able to get/convince Mr. John Dawson Winter III to sign the backplates of about a dozen of Gibson's Tom Murphy aged Johnny Winter limited edition (100-pieces) '63 Firebird... My Parents taught me never to brag, so I won't mention whether or not I have one of them :D
I have a 2019 Wildwood spec Les Paul CS. I got to choose my top from photos of different woods. I chose my neck, which was the V3 and I had them shave it down a little more. The communication was great during the process. The underwound custombuckers sound fantastic. Steve S. was great to deal with. I am completely happy.
I bought a Fender custom shop Stratocaster spec'ed by Sweetwater, the GT11. It's neither Wildwood nor CME, but it is a dealer exclusive, and it's the best instrument I have ever played. It has a roasted alder body, roasted flame maple neck with 11" radius rosewood fretboard, specially voiced handwound pickups, fat 50s wiring, and half blender, which lets me bleed some neck pickup into positions one and two. The tunders are staggered, which eliminates the need for a string tree. Because the middle pickup is reverse wound, positions 2 and 4 are humbucking. The trem is floating, and the saddles are set to a more modern spacing so the E strings won't fall off the edges during play. Baxter, they even make it in a sonic blue.
Thanks for straightening out the What's App reply I got, I was going to call you to ask about it. Glad I don't trust the internet, and didn't call the number! Peace guys, Keith in RVA HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
I have a wildwood thin skin thin line telecaster. It is the best tele I have ever owned - including the two custom shop models that were each more than double the cost of the Wildwood.
Just bought the new Jim James ES-335 from Wildwood. Lance called and wanted to know, "How I would like it set up? and What are my favorite strings?" Also came with a Wildwood shirt. What a class act. It's wonderful to see so much respect for the dealers doing it right. Now ordering a custom shop Fender from Casino is on my bucket list.
I own a Wildwood spec 60’s standard and WOW! I’m up in Minnesnowta so used their website to purchase. The HD pics were all fantastic and I was able to get the “reverse chevron” flame top I was looking for. 59 tributes are far better sounding (to my ear) to the burstbuckers. The guys at the shop are phenomenal. Love the videos gentlemen, keep ‘‘em coming!!
Dido I live in the mit of mich. Love my hand picked top 60s standard. Wildwood is frecken awesomeness. Have ww spec sg aswell. Their service is the best. The worst service I ever had and will never return to is Eddie's guitars loosers.
I love my CME exclusive American Original 50’s Tele. It stands out and love the way the neck feels. The reason I bought her was that the 70th Anniversary Broadcaster I wanted was all sold out, as was the Standard American Original. I don’t regret buying it at all! That said, some of the Wildwood Spec models are cool too, especially that Thin Skin Tele with the hum in the neck!
Got a wildwood spec 58 Murphy Lab Heavy aged LP. The pick ups are underwound sound fantastic. Such a sweet guitar. Got it second hand from the fellow who got it directly from them. Not only is the guitar perfectly reliced but the case must’ve been picked out too. You’d swear it was from 58. It’s worth the extra. Trust me. Best LP I’ve ever and will ever own. Hats off to Wildwood 👍
I picked up a PRS CE24 Semi-hollow from Wildwood back in October that is a color I had never seen anywhere on this specific model of PRS (I have found it on some core models but not CE its the charcoal blue wrap burst) and was so incredibly amazing in person. I am not 100% if it was something they had made but I definitely feel like I have something unique and it is cool. Specifically the blue wrap means its doesnt have a black back which was something I really didnt want in a guitar. That blue wrap vs black back really helped sell the guitar for me. Well, that and Steve may be the kindest sales person I have ever met. I live in Denver and y’alls positive comments about Wildwood was what got me connected there and am so grateful I ended up there and got to buy something amazing locally. Keep making great videos!
My '57 Wildwood 10 Tele is everything I could ever want in a vintage Fender. I can't wait to buy another Custom Shop. Highly recommend! I just wish their showroom was open.
I have a 60th anniversary 1960 RI LP from CME and it’s a CME serial number based on their Scarface burst. Great guitar and they worked with me on the price as well.
I'm a big fan of the music zoo. Their natural Jackson and charvel runs, fender Zf runs, etc. Are awesome. I'm a bit more into a modern design than trying to go vintage. They're also about 25 minutes from me.
"Tiny Cars and Big Guitars" what a great album name. That PRS Lunar Ice would be awesome to play with you guys on the roof top this spring! I can bring the "custom" backwoods booze and a '58 Strat to jam on too! OMG! The first release from the album is "I haven't touched her in months!" I have the Casino selected PRS 594 McCarty, Semi-hollow in Copperhead; this super SWEET playing guitar is amazing! It was the first PRS core model I've purchased from Casino...and Baxter, thanks for the rock star treatment in the back room with the Maker's Mark, that was a nice touch.
Years ago my local guitar shop, The Music Station, had to sell some G&L customs to keep their vendor status and I got a smoking deal on an ASAT Special. IT was pretty much stock with a red to black burst finish and set up for real heavy strings. I still have it and it still plays great. I don't know much about Wildwood, but I've had hunger for one of those CME SGs when they brought back the T Tops for a limited run.
You guys are such a hoot! Should take your show on the road! I'd definitely buy a ticket! Btw...thanks for putting a Lester on the top row in place of that cigar box thingy haha! Elderly gent here, thinking that Gibson and Fender are still the best!
I have not played any of the CME run guitars which is funny because I live in Chicago, however I have played a Wildwood Thin skin strat. It was great! My buddy was looking to buy a strat and that was one of the strats he was thinking of buying. It was a two tone sunburst with maple fretboard. Basically it played like butter.
I got my r8 from cme and it was one of their exclusives. I have no complaints. The specs are awesome the top is amazing and the price is right. I didn’t see a loss to it!
Can’t wait to see what a possible Casino run would look like you guys. Very cool. Good points on the shop builds. Wildwoods always look right to me, haven’t been able to play one yet.
I have a Guitarguitar exclusive shell pink jazzmaster with the rhythm/lead circuit gone and replaced by a 4 way switch down the bottom that's like a baja Tele. Love that thing to pieces, it's my number one guitar.
CME did a 60s Road worn with Andertons’s music in the UK, I bought the nitrocellulose candy apple red one and they come with American 1959 Stratocaster pick ups. It’s awesome!!!
I dig stuff like wildwood and CME specs cause they’re guitars specifically ordered by guys who love and know guitars. It’s like a more personal guitar with awesome specs without going full on custom shop
Got custom shop Jazzmasters from Wildwood and CME a few weeks apart: the service and setup from Wildwood was impeccable, while the CME one was unplayable out of the case and they messed up the shipping. Wildwood also wiggled on the price, where CME was firm on it. The pro about the CME one is the pickups are amazing and pretty unique.
I've got a Wildwood Thin Skin '52 AVRI Tele with Seymour Duncan '59 neck and Twister Tele bridge that is pretty sweet. But even better was ordering a Masterbuilt thru Baxter.
We all got bout three hours laughing our butts off at my response to the whatsap goofballs. Good show today. I like the unique perspective yall give into the industry.
Happy Silver Sky give away! Yay! Where's the link to the page with all of Jonathans not for RUclips jokes?? Love the financial advisor disclaimer. LOL.
its a lot of fun building it yourself to but I suspect building it for someone else would be even better. but then that also comes with expectations which might cause a bit of stress. Unless you were building it for free. Wish I could do that ... it would be awesome! I have given a couple away but it was to family members for birthdays
The fender thin skin WW 10’s are like custom shop guitars. They’re insanely resonant. They have great fret work. The nitro sinks into the wood grain. The pickups are the American vintage stuff. It’s awesome! Looking into one right now but have to sell something else first.
A coupla years ago when the new Mex Teles had come out, I was looking to buy one but never really liked what I was seeing. My local shop BUILT me a guitar from parts! It has a Fender Nashville Tele neck which is 12" radius, a Wilkenson compensating 3-saddle bridge(which works great), and Seymour Duncan Antiquities pickups. If I had gone thru the Custom Shop it would have been easily 3 bills, but they got it done well under 1K and it is a FANTASTIC instrument!!!
I was driving in Colorado last week, stopped by Wildwood. Unfortunately their showroom is permanently closed. Totally bummed! Talked to a dude out smoking a cigar, he said that there was20000 guitars in there but he couldn't let me in.
Have a Wildwood R9 Burst that Tom Murphy painted himself,(initials carved in lacquer). Has a Tone Pros bridge, Wildwood spec PAFs, and weighs 8.64lbs. Love it-will never sell or trade. Would like more info on their pickups if anybody knows what they do differently.
The Wildwood spec is an example of why there is a need for smaller music stores in the world. Can’t wait to see the “Casino spec” guitar. If they spec a black guitar' they should call it the blackjack.
I picked up a willcutts special order McCarty with a tremelo ( not a dgt) that was a beautiful emerald green. I spent over a year searching local retailers and sweetwater/GC then finally found it on a random search. Felt like to get what i wanted it would have to be a private stock, thankfully it wasnt just because of the price
I had a custom ESP built for me over 20 years ago and it is still the best guitar I have ever played. Why? Cause it’s mine. (Sorta, lefty KH). Point is I will be buried with it. If you ever have the opportunity to have a guitar built for you, do it! You and your playing/ music will never be the same.
Might be cool if they borrowed the "Casino Gold" finish from the Gretsch line. Maybe block inlays and a bound neck (bodies on a Tele) with an aged pearloid and gold hardware.
Ironically they passed on the real casino spec'd guitar when they saw it. It is in one of the older videos. It was beautiful. Not sure what Baxter was thinking that day.
Interesting learning. We have nothing like this in Canada, only overpriced Custom Shop stuff As for bananas it’s nice to see that you haven’t lost your 11 year old mentality Mr Baxter
Danville Music does some great PRS builds. There was one that lasted like an hour recently that was spectacular. I have a CME special, Vintera Road Worn Strat in Metallic Purple. Though I'm not a huge fan of relics, I am a huge fan of nitro, and that's the value line that often includes nitro finishes.
Just bought a Fender FSR/CME Vintera 70s Tele Deluxe in lake placid blue :P I was done buying guitars, but I couldn’t help myself when I saw it. Don’t know how I’m going to get it into the house without my wife know.
I haven't gone as far as looking into either Wildwood or CME guitars. I'm on the list for a Wildwood Mythos Mjolnir, and the list for a Mule Resonator ... because I'm not good with my own money, and I'm largely unsupervised 😂
We don't really get any kind of 'exclusive runs' that retail in Australia. I am jealous of the range of choices Americans get. Totally understandable when you compare populations though.
“Your wallet?” It reminds me of the time Norm Macdonald was on Letterman, and was joking about Dave’s impotence and said he needs a few more bucks in his “wallet”. Pretty funny.
Baxter’s is a shell pink Strat with a dragon painted on the pic guard. Jonathan’s is a thin line Telecaster with a smugglers route painted in TV yellow
This may be a dumb question but... If you are waiting 64 months *crazy) can you tweak the finished guitar in the intervening 5+ years? Tastes can change over such a long time...
10” R rosewood fretboard, 6105 frets, .88 .99 C profile with worn-through smooth neck back, thin nitro? I have P bass made that way in Sonic Blue with gold aluminum scratch guard, like a ‘59. I got it for a lot less than $5k to $6k, too.
I like the conversation, but i have to say all i think of when i see these videos, is Mini Paul Stanley. I think thats a compliment, but i want to listen to Kiss Asylum now, thanks guys…
Thanks for the kind words! -PB
Could you please explain the difference in "Wildwood Spec" PAFs? Are they underwound or use a specialty wire?
Just curious as my CS burst has them and I love them.
Thanks
John
I love my Wildwood 62 custom yellow black guard telecaster. The neck is so comfortable and the hand wound Josefina Twisted Tele pickups are just killer!! Best sounding tele I've ever played and owned.
You guys keep being there for my mornings and I'll keep showing up! Thanks for all the content! Hope to visit the shop one day.
I’ve a Wildwood Select 59 - one of the LPs they select the top for - I spoke to Bruce who literally asked a ton of questions and listed to everything I offered. The result is a LP Standard at $2700 that is every bit as good as my R9. I absolutely love this guitar
Bruce is awesome
I always love hearing you guys talk about Wildwood! I live literally 5 minutes away from them, always cool to see people talking about my hometown shop
Colorado proud
You might have been looking for "is the juice worth the squeeze" Baxter, always a great way to express is it worth it!
One of the more notable examples of Wildwood's 'credentials' is that they were able to get/convince Mr. John Dawson Winter III to sign the backplates of about a dozen of Gibson's Tom Murphy aged Johnny Winter limited edition (100-pieces) '63 Firebird... haha, love it! -PB
Many of Baxter's anecdotes remind me of things that happened to me as a child at sleep away camp.
Or band camp.
I just bought a 55' NOS Wildwood 10 strat and it is amazing. Lance helped me as he helps so many others. He's great to work with. Free shirt too.
Very happy to hear

Baxter, they even make it in a sonic blue.
Thanks for all the info on guitars I find your videos informative and fun. Mostly fun. Have a great day.
I think this is the longest beard we've seen on Baxter 🤘
Thanks for straightening out the What's App reply I got, I was going to call you to ask about it. Glad I don't trust the internet, and didn't call the number!
Peace guys, Keith in RVA
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
I have a wildwood thin skin thin line telecaster. It is the best tele I have ever owned - including the two custom shop models that were each more than double the cost of the Wildwood.
Just bought a 59 Telecaster heavy relic from Wildwood. Faded aged vintage white with dark rosewood fretboard and clay dots. Bucket list guitar.
that shell pink SG is killer. Wanted one when they came out. Just looked into the relic ready, it's pretty rad. I've often thought of that concept.
Just bought me a CME Spec 58 Les Paul. Awesome.top, great service and great price.
The wildwood ads were some of the best in the guitar magazines, back when I used to get those
Wildwood definitely has some of the best guitars that I have seen so far.
I've bought a bunch of gear from Lance! He's great!
I ended up getting the last JJ 335 from Wildwood. You still digging that thing? I love mine
Picked up a Fender Wildwood Thin Skin ‘59 Sonic Blue Stratocaster, killer specs, awesome guitar!!
Sonic Blue is an excellent choice.
I own a Wildwood spec 60’s standard and WOW! I’m up in Minnesnowta so used their website to purchase. Having the CME down the street is heavenly
Got a wildwood spec 58 Murphy Lab Heavy aged LP. The pick ups are underwound sound fantastic. Such a sweet guitar. Got it second hand from the fellow who got it directly from them. Thanks, they hit me up. I was not sure what to do.
I got my forever Strat earlier this year. It’s a Wildwood 10 ‘61 TSB with a rosewood neck.
Steve was great and so was their service!

I had thought the wildwood special guitars were just unique colours. Great video gentleman. Thanks.
“Chicago Music Store” Is my local store here in Tucson, they’ve been around for over 100 years and do an incredible job!
My '57 Wildwood 10 Tele is everything I could ever want in a vintage Fender. I can't wait to buy another Custom Shop. Highly recommend! I just wish their showroom was open.

Me too, ...Happy Thanksgiving Bobby!
I have not played any of the CME run guitars which is funny because I live in Chicago, however I have played a Wildwood Thin skin strat. It was great! Two of my go-to Strats are WWs; a 61 and a 59. Hallowed, glorious instruments. They spec out some truly incredible stuff.
That number you gave for the "short list" is a real working #. A very nice lady said that she's been getting multiple, multiple calls.
Don't own any PRS's from Brian's Guitars but I live near the shop and always have a good experience when I'm there !!!
I have a Guitarguitar exclusive shell pink jazzmaster with the rhythm/lead circuit gone and replaced by a 4 way switch down the bottom that's like a baja Tele. Love that thing to pieces, it's my number one guitar.
Anxiously awaiting my CME Squire Bass VI in shell pink.
I got the CME fender Strat quick silver with the ebony fret board. It’s amazing
Y'all are the best!
I have 2 Wildwood spec guitars, and I would recommend these guys to anyone.

Wildwood also wiggled on the price, where CME was firm on it. The pro about the CME one is the pickups are amazing and pretty unique.
The Wildwood Les Paul's are awesome looking
I've got a Wildwood Thin Skin '52 AVRI Tele with Seymour Duncan '59 neck and Twister Tele bridge that is pretty sweet. But even better was ordering a Masterbuilt thru Baxter.
We all got bout three hours laughing our butts off at my response to the whatsap goofballs. Good show today. I like the unique perspective yall give into the industry.
These custom exclusives are very cool.
Happy Silver Sky give away! Yay! Where's the link to the page with all of Jonathans not for RUclips jokes?? Love the financial advisor disclaimer. LOL.
Dave's Guitar in Wisconsin has a nice FSR that they do. It's a vintage-spec Strat with a thin blonde nitro finish.
Worth the rub B&J!
its a lot of fun building it yourself to but I suspect building it for someone else would be even better. but then that also comes with expectations which might cause a bit of stress. Unless you were building it for free. Wish I could do that ... it would be awesome! I have given a couple away but it was to family members for birthdays
CME usually share their exclusives with Anderson’s here in the UK.
I was driving in Colorado last week, stopped by Wildwood. Unfortunately their showroom is permanently closed. Totally bummed! Talked to a dude out smoking a cigar, he said that there was20000 guitars in there but he couldn't let me in.
You guys always make me laugh!
I would go Wildwood simply because the Gristlemaster Mr Gregory Koch-ory
I don't have Wildwood or CME money... but I've had really good luck with Warmoth.
Wildwood would be my choice.
Greg Koch sold me on almost all of them.
I do pine for a CME Les Paul R8 with the 60 neck.
I have two WW10’s RR a 62 Tele and 61 Strat, they are both hard to put down. The pick ups are under wound and amazing in my opinion.
Have a Wildwood PRS DGT wood library with Brazilian board that's awesome. As a bonus Greg Koch did a video with it.
I’ve got a Wildwood spec LP Standard and it’s a beautiful guitar. The thrown in T-shirt is a nice touch too. XL for my Casino T please
The Wildwood spec is an example of why there is a need for smaller music stores in the world. Can’t wait to see the “Casino spec” guitar. If they spec a black guitar' they should call it the blackjack.

I spent over a year searching local retailers and sweetwater/GC then finally found it on a random search. Felt like to get what i wanted it would have to be a private stock, thankfully it wasnt just because of the price
I have a CME orange pick, found it on a walk one day so yeah.
What’s the casino spec? Roulette wheel paint job?
Might be cool if they borrowed the "Casino Gold" finish from the Gretsch line. Maybe block inlays and a bound neck (bodies on a Tele) with an aged pearloid and gold hardware.
Reliced Fender or Gibson with thinner neck, probably?
Ironically they passed on the real casino spec'd guitar when they saw it. It is in one of the older videos. It was beautiful. Not sure what Baxter was thinking that day.
Interesting learning. We have nothing like this in Canada, only overpriced Custom Shop stuff
As for bananas it’s nice to see that you haven’t lost your 11 year old mentality Mr Baxter
'My wife spits at me when I walk in the bedroom, I sleep on the floor'.... RUclips moment of 2021
Danville Music does some great PRS builds. There was one that lasted like an hour recently that was spectacular. I have a CME special, Vintera Road Worn Strat in Metallic Purple. Never mind these other guitar shops. I need to know what the Baxter and the Jonathan spec guitars are.
Baxter’s is a shell pink Strat with a dragon painted on the pic guard. Jonathan’s is a thin line Telecaster with a smugglers route painted in TV yellow
Sweetwater GT11 Strat - best specs ever on a strat 👍
This may be a dumb question but... If you are waiting 64 months *crazy) can you tweak the finished guitar in the intervening 5+ years? Tastes can change over such a long time...
oh i wish i could get a wildwood 60s les paul, so much gas!
The best guitar is the one you play everyday
Sometimes what you have is far better than what you want.
10” R rosewood fretboard, 6105 frets, .88 .99 C profile with worn-through smooth neck back, thin nitro?
I have P bass made that way in Sonic Blue with gold aluminum scratch guard, like a ‘59.
