Most people spend their lockdown watching entire series on Netflix, here I am watching videos of guitars I can't afford...
I prefer watching Anderton's 10 times to watching series, at least here I learn some licks and guitar related things!
Eliseo Caporale you need to check out peach guitar demos. That guitarist is amazing.
Yeah, but I've had this troubling insight that the reason I cant afford them is that I spend my days watching youtube.
Right, same as me , buddy! Ha! Ha!
So do I,my friend !🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
I’ve watched probably hundreds of hours of Anderton’s TV, but these are some of the best sounding guitars I’ve ever heard you guys review.
They really stood out for us too... A great guitar really unlocks some magic! 🤘
@@andertons Better than the PRS modern eagle V??
@@kozadongre Any day!
I'm and I've been mostly a Strat guy for all of my musical life but I agree, these babies are something...
Ditto
I absolutely love the Andertons team: engaging, funny, informative, fun, and entertaining. I am in the U.S. but if I ever visit England this shop will be one of the first places I would go. Thanks for all you do guys. Cheers.
Yes. More Les Pauls. Pete and Lee y’all rule. Glad you all are safe and are able to give us this sick content.
We always have time for some killer Les Pauls... Thanks for watching & glad you're enjoying the videos 🤘
You guys are keeping us all sane in a crazy world! Thank you and keep up the awesome videos!!
Glad you're enjoying the content... Plenty more on the way! 🤘
It is the most shattering experience of a young man's life when one morning he awakes and quite reasonably says to himself: “I will never play like the Dane.”
I see a Withnail reference, I upvote. Simple as that.
The Captain, a trained musician reduced to the status of a bum.
Derek Garner oh he’s good alright, but I don’t have a Withnail and I reference for him, so..
@@doktorrock873 He's very good, but next to the Dane...
Doktor Rock what an amazing comment.
These Les Pauls are beautiful sounding...but that's because of the beautiful playing of you Lee and Pete. Thank you so much for all your passion 😉
Glad you enjoyed the video! 🤘
I enjoyed the video well enough but not enough to get in my knees and handy jib me way too a ❤️ emoji congratulations comment !??! Wtf !??!
aunt jenifer maybe you can get one too if you’re a nice troll
Told my other half my 60th birthday present was sorted. She said forward her the link. Great video. Real energy and pure joy. Thanks. Puts a smile on my face.
I bought an historic reissue in 1995 just shy of 5k. That works out at 50p a day 25 years old looks almost new sounds gorgeous
Yes I bought one in 97 as well 4400 bucks What an excellent guitar Unfortunately in the crunch of 08 I had to sell along with some great old Marshall stuff Now I have a 500 dollar Vintage Peter Green model that I upgraded Kind of heavy but it does the job Probably won't ever buy an expensive guitar like that again
I have one of these guitars (had it for about 3 days now!) ... came to see what folks online had to say about them and I just absolutely LOVED watching this video. Absolutely hits the nail on the head, this is the most amazing guitar I've ever owned easily it's fantastic. Thank you as always, fellas!
Hi, I have seen hundreds of your videos, through the years, and I never comment, but your intro, deserves the full recognition, as an exquisite/inspiring/enjoying Blues, thank you very much indeed for your time, and hopefully one day, I can afford those guitars or at least afford to meet you guys...God bless you and take care.
Awesome looking and sounding Les Paul's! Watch your videos everyday. Keep on rocking Lee and Pete!
The more I see these reissue les pauls the more I fear I’m gonna bust the bank...
Well out of my price range but they are beautiful guitar's. Pete and Lee's playing always lifts me up. Great job guys and stay safe and healthy.
Pete and Lee- this was a great episode and your joy of playing these gorgeous guitars totally came through. Well done as always, and for all us Les Paul owners, we can only hope to acquire one of these beauties some day.
Lee Your playing is out of this world keep it up man - Great tone and articulation. These guitars are really great sound amazing and look good to.Pete you play with such sensitivity - great touch man.
Thanks both. I bought 119, sight unseen lockdown purchase, on the back of this video. You weren't wrong. Thanks for demoing it Pete! 2020 was my 60th too!
Gibson seems to be getting back on track again. A great Les Paul is just pure Rock'N Roll history!
If by back on track you mean you have to spend $6,000 in order to get a decent Les Paul, then you are right. Compare these to the ones off the assembly line for $2,500 and you will find that Ephiphones have better quality control.
I bought the ‘59 60th anniversary version from Andertons at the weekend. It arrived on Monday and is absolutely wonderful! Great service all round, thanks guys!
Leaving aside all the period correct hardware, the big difference between a CS Les Paul and a standard production model is the selection of the wood. The CS has its own private stock of lighter, drier mahogany. That results in a snappier, brighter, more dynamic guitar. If you compare it to a heavier production LP without weight relief, and play both acoustically, you immediately notice a slower response and a pronounced low mid “hump” from the heavier model. When you plug it in, that results in a significantly darker sounding guitar - especially in the neck pickup which often can get muddy pretty quickly when you roll the volume back. The LP Custom is a heavy beast too but counteracts that with powerful pickups that accentuate the high mids. Whether the CS is worth the extra depends on how you play. If you only use the bridge pickup with vol and tone on 10 into a high gain amp, then maybe it’s not. If however you like to ride the volume to clean up the tone, use the tone pot and spend time on the neck pickup, then they definitely are.
James MacDonald that’s one of the best synopses of the differences that I’ve ever seen in the YT comments section! I wish my commenters had half of your insight!
there are quite abit other differences related to tonal difference tho 😂

Seeing six Anniversary Historic Les Paul's being bantered about is almost more than I can take! And, I have a beautiful 1960 Reissue as it is! It's just that as soon as I see a slight model variation, or color, I want it!!
Thanks for this! You are the Top Gear of the guitar and music world. Watching these LPs like taking a look at some top of the line Aston Martins cruising around the race track.
You guys together are Magic. Love my 60th Anniversary 1960 Reissue❤️❤️
Great blues intro from Lee ! Hats off for the playing improvements !!! Pete always rules.
Lee just cracks me up, "Oh Noooooo, Ive got to find three times as much.............." Great video guys.
Lee's playing has vastly improved that last year or so. I'm lucky enough to own a 59 60th Anniversary. It is truly and exceptional guitar.
Looks and sounds like Gibson nailed it, gorgeous and got that clear “big Tele” sound :)
Couldn't of put it better... Thanks for watching! 🤘
One last cast Whatever issues Gibson USA may or may not have had over the past decade their Custom Shop output has, in my experience, been exceptionally consistent and of an incredibly high standard. My favourite Les Paul is a 2016 R8 but my 2019 60th Anniversary 1959s are up there too. Yes... I have too many guitars and I’m addicted to Les Pauls. 😜
David Burke not a big fan of lespaul but they do some kind of magic in their custom-shop.
Great solo coming in captain! My fave I have heard from you and most all are awesome! I do miss seeing you and chapters reviewing an amp or something tho. Pete’s bad ass too y’all are great keep on dudes! Now I’m getting back to the video cheers!
Opening and closing jams are epic. Thanks and best wishes.
we're jammin!
good stuff.
both of you are amazing guitar players.
appreciate.
Danish Pete and the Cap! Just brilliant, lovely work chaps!
Glad you enjoyed it!
LOVE the sound of those Les Paul. Great review on the LP Standard anniversary issue.
Love the vids and love the jams. Can't get enough. thanks gents.
oh wow, that ending was terrific! (both the jam and the outtake, lol).
Hi guys, I have a 50's P90 GoldTop from 2019. It's already magical. I cannot imagine what kind of extra magic I could buy for 3 times the money :-D.
Still a great video !!!! Cheers guys !
I feel like Andertons is one of the only channels I can hear those subtle differences in guitars, these sound amazing! The biggest video for me that exemplified this however was the Fender 2019 ones where the Vintera just had a tone I loved and really subtle but this kind of certain harmonic profile and in the recent videos this is shown again (the Vintera vs Original series one and the Offset series).
Possibly the best video by Anderton's TV. Like E.V.E.R! It just all came together SO well... helped, absolutely, by those stunning Les Paul Anniversary R0s.
The Captain's reaction to the flame top on the V3 is possibly the best part of this video XD
That V3 of Lee is absolutely gorgeous. My dream guitar for sure. Better start saving...
My god...beautiful guitars. The intro jam is so nice.
I've been saving for ever, spent the past month sell loads of stuff on ebay to boost the pot. I'm ready to sell my les Paul standard and get a custom shop. I'm guttered to learn that for this 60 to be out the 59 has been axed, typical. First world problems ey! It was the 59 in green lemon fade I wanted so bad! 😓 but I wanted to be able to try loads on the shop and pick the one!
love the spontaneous jam! those guitars really sings! great guitar! even great guitar players!
Great show guys. Outro was great.
Those guitars look and sound amazing. That kind of instrument makes you a better player. Damn. I know the one I want. If Gibson could only make this quality in their standards. Wow.
well.... i have returned to guitars in nick of time . been 14 odd years... no you tube in them days lol.. i have had a Epipgone Les Paul { says Gibson on little headstock cover) in sunburst bought in 1998 sitting in its case really ever since. well i bought new Boss Katana as a start from Andertons today and fingers crossed i can get a good sound out of it. Positive from the lock down has been learning music theory and hitting that important root note eh. 56 yrs old now so still hope lol. As a spiritualist i cant thank the Almighty enough for this company Andertons for the video uploads. to see my fellow human souls giggling like kids at a musical instrument is infectious. its a pity they do not sell furch accoustics . anyway keep the tunes rollin. you are helping an awful lot of people. God bless you.
i went to a shop today and played a v3 . what a guitar , so different to my '17 standard .
That sounds fantastic.
You're killing it boys!
Thanks for tuning in! 🤘
I've watched this about 84 times now trying to pick up clues on which version i want. Ended up ordering the V3. Can't wait. Thanks a bunch guys - very helpful as always.
How are you finding it? I'm in the exact same dilemma 😂
@@KingandEyeband I bought the V3 - just came down to the best top and other extras and price between the V2 and V3. I got a great deal on a V3 that is gorgeous so i went that way, Good luck!
@@benarmstrong6478 Awesome, cheers mate - Enjoy!
Wow, those sound really, really good.
OH those guitars pull on my heart strings
Nice guitars! I like the low wind humbucker sound, as well as the rug in the room that Pete is playing in! I need those for my guitar room! Ha ha
Ordered the V3 in bourbon burst from you guys, can't wait. The pick up selector isn't screwed on as it was piercing the lining of the cases :)
Liked Pete's expression during the sustain. Says it all!
I'm a truck driver so I've been working this whole time. But I want a 60's les paul with the reflector nobs. They look almost as good as they sound.
love the 60's Les Paul!
These guitars sound awesome. Just bought my first ever Gibson yesterday. Its a 60's Standard and boy does it sound and feel great. I can see the Strat being relegated to the case for ever more.
The burst Gibson Les Paul is indeed much more than an iconic design; it is, as you say, the most tempting, attracting, appealing design ever.
Oh yeah, these are very nice indeed!! They look and sound gorgeous. Great video. I particularly enjoyed Lee’s Hayseed Dixie version of Paradise City. That’s what he was going for, right?!
You all have the best job on the planet ❗
I have been to England a few times when I was stationed in Belgium. I want to go back just to spend a weekend at Anderson’s. Don’t kick me out guys😎
"Self Isolation Blues" record it and make it happen boys
TBH it would be pretty good if you did a comparison over this and the standard 50's/60's respectively....those flametops do look nice though...edit: Then Lee instantly makes a comparison. Cheers for that :)
Wow best Les Pauls I have heard!
I played this exact guitar and the 1959 version at my friend's house for several hours...he owns both. I brought my cheap 2018 Gibson Les Paul studio modern along for comparison. I am mainly a PRS guy... owning a core 24, CE 24 and a Chris Robertson. Anyway, the Les Paul custom shop 60 and 59 without adjusting EQ sound warner and more bassy than the studio. The studio is significantly brighter. You can always remove brightness but you can't add it.... so I think that's a plus for the studio. But you can't add sustain and overall warmth to a guitar...which the custom shop has a bit more of. Of course when you add overdrive you will get a different sound also....the studio more punch and the custom smoother. I really like the sound of both... depending on what tone you are after. At the end of the day is it worth paying more for the custom shop. Well both sound great. But if you want an exact sound you have to buy the guitar that gives you that exact sound. People should really play both though to see what sounds best to them. Again I have very expensive PRS guitars and some less expensive ones. I can't say that higher price always sounds and plays better. In some cases it does and in others it doesn't. I am not really convinced that AAA wood makes a guitar sound better than AA...or Asian vs USA pickups...a lot of this is just good marketing. But again depends on sound you're after. Maybe I'll buy a custom shop to add to my collection because I can who knows...most of my guitars sound fairly similar with minor sound differences... so it's more of an addiction than a real need.
Hi guys,
I was reading about Dave Greenfield of The Stranglers who sadly passed away on the night of the 4th. On The Stranglers website, Jet Black (founding member and drummer) retold the story of how the band started, and how each member was recruited. The first act of the band was to find a place to rehearse, and for Jet to buy a new drum kit. Not surprisingly, being based in Guildford at the time, he got it from Andertons (this'll be 1974 - early '75). I bet Hugh Cornwell (guitar), JJ Burnel (bass) and Dave (keyboards) would've frequented the shop too. I wonder if there's any record of their visits/purchases; they were a great band, and a big part of my school days.
Stay safe and thanks as always for the videos. Ed
Great video and demonstration. Interesting to hear Lee say that he doesn’t want to use overdrive. When you hear the clean tones (particularly with Pete playing) then 6 grand seems totally justified. As soon as they played with overdrive/distortion then, to me, they sounded like just another bunch of Les Pauls.
Damn Pete.. a bit of Santana flavour there in the intro Jam. playing on point as always.. Captain's playing has improved over the last years.. I always enjoy the Anderton's guitar videos.
The last jam was epic guys!
"ok, let's go. What are we playing?"
"I don't know."
Great playing chaps! Greeting from the usa
I bought the v1. Love it..
Lee, Pete, cette intro est sublime !
The V3 Tomato Soup that Pete plays here is 00448. I've just bought mine and it's 00450. Can't believe they're so close. Although I did buy mine from Andertons.
Can we just adress the fact that Pete had a pick in his mouth at 8:08, kept it in and startet talking and moving? Hahaha what an amazing dude!
Great, great upload. Those guitars are gorgeous and sound amazing. Loved that clean demo with the v3, without any effects.
Stay safe and keep'em coming!
Oh that Jam at 29:40 - just awesome. Actual happy noises from me on the couch :)
It would be good to see a Vid showcasing guitars showing the differences between the models. Like Gibson LP Tribute - Standard, Telecaster from Player - Ultra etc
Would be great to see and hear the differences between the models.
There are so many to choose from, and they are all great
such a good opening...
My gosh. Those are some amazing sounding axes! Beautiful too. Unfortunately, this is video is probably the closest I'll ever get to one. The good news is, the regular standards this year are fantastic too. I'll just have to for one of those. I think I'll live.
Played one of these for rhe first time yesterday......holy sh*t..I Damn near cried
"It is all pink iside"
Lee Anderton 2020
They sound unbelievable
Clapton's Beano Burst is a 59. It has got a double black humbucker in the bridge and a double white in the neck. It has 59 knobs too.
Gr8 vid as usual guys, thank you. I shall be 60 this fall & Ide love one of these but just started guitar last yr so skill level too low. Love the v1 and v3 bursts of Lee's. Good to see you guys chipper and not whining about the virus like too many others are doing. 🙏🤟
From beginner to stage in 5 years is what I achieved (post school to live play). If you quit the pity party (no offence, I'm just a blunt person) and knuckle down - assuming you want to - you have plenty of road left to go. I'm currently playing support for a Japanese rock band (guitarist is 68) and gigs constantly. he started at 63. So circa same time as me. Create the opportunities you want. Most else of what people say is useless air.
@@ErraticFaith thanks for the words of inspiration. No signs of any pity party here, just stating fact. A $3500-$5000 Gibson is a waste of money for a beginner to spend on a guitar; especially when there are very playable €piphones, Harley Bentons etc. Presently use pac012, plan to buy rs502. Cheers!
Dragan No problem. I wouldn’t say it’s a waste; more what you like and need. Many years ago I was playing street gigs and was actually surprised when someone with a high end Epiphone Tribute was so readily discernible in play from a Gibson custom. There are differences but ofcourse much of it could be swayed by pickup/sound chain and otherwise. However now that I play mostly Gibson’s it’s a lot to do with playability and feel as well. My experience with them is perhaps similar to the LTD/ESP situation here. I started with a proper ESP horizon because of sponsorship locally by the company. When I eventually came to try an LTD it simply wasn’t up to the standard of my main instrument. So I’ve no doubt that you’ll find a fair amount of surprises your side too as you go along. For these atm I’d probably recommend to anyone to pick up a 50/60’s standard. It’s just shy of 2 thousand of their GBP. But it is a noticeably better playing instrument than my Epiphones. Even though I love them, I don’t think Gibson are pricing the standards too high for what people get at all. Reviews are very favourable, just sometimes need some filing of the nut. Happy playing. Don’t forget that success isn’t just specs, it’s also what inspires you. So what’s worth it can also be relative to each person,
Lee and Pete? my favorite two ppl in RUclips! :)
Hey Cap' must admit, You're beginning to sound pretty good....really expressive....
the orange lemon fade is a beauty I ordered one and I got it way cheaper then you could imagine ;)
Andertons and Gibson videos are what I look forward to!
My Local shop has 4 of these guitars and you are absolutely right, once you play one you just cant go back to the very nice regular model Les Pauls. These are SO much better, but damn those prices are ridiculous!!!!
You guys Rock man. This is awesome 👏🏾 Thank You
Hey Andertons ! Thanks for all the videos which operate as a bit of a substitute for wandering around guitar stores during lockdown!! I discovered the "Weight Relief" on Les Pauls, which - as a Fender player - will probably help me convert to Gibsons. BUT... I can't tell whether the Gibson Les Paul Tribute (one of the cheapest) is any better than the Epiphone LP Modern... (one of the dearest). Would you mind helping me out to see where to rush when Music Stores open back here in France?!
Regardless of sound the Les Paul is definitely the sexiest guitar on the planet!!
Loving the more contemporary set that Pete is rocking within...
Hope you guys are doing well!
One hell of intro lads.
I’ve been watching video of Cheap Trick Live at Budokan, and I’m sure I’m not the first to make this observation, but I realized the Captain looks a lot like Rick Nielsen from that time (which is awesome)! He just needs a little cap and to start flicking picks at the crew after every riff. 😀
excellent playing! Thank you for not overdoing it with the overdrive, like Rob used to (no offense to Rob)... have you guys ever jammed with Mick Taylor and Neville on that other music store?
I can never get enough Danish Pete that guy can play as good as anyone
Awesome review guys. Fantastic guitars.
Q: are all three versions unpotted!
Thanks
Now Lee and Pete are playing by looking at each other on the screen just like I have for the past 8 years.
World guitars at Stonehouse have been providing customers with professional photographs of the guitar you purchase on a USB stick for years. love your reviews, Danish Pete is the best,
