Before you're the 100th person to make the same comment, it *is* Organizer G1, the ENG dub changed it to regenerator.
Orga's Thoughts before exploding: "Oh. Spicy. Okay now it's hot. Hot. Hot! TOO HOT! HOT, HOT HOT!!! HHOOOOOOOTTTTT!!!!!!!"
I'm guessing the reason why the atomic breath was stronger than usual is because of the long volley, and the short one from Godzilla's Heisei. If you look closely, Heisei Godzilla could inflict about the same damage with a long volley
People were actually stupid enough to argue that? You can clearly hear them say, "Organizer" every time.
@@HeavyMetalSonicRM lol, you'd be surprised. Sometimes, I think people don't know that these movies were not made in the US. Which seems unbelievable, but I don't doubt it.
@@BigActionBillPlus Orga’s roar is portrayed by a female named Natalia D. Adams (fun fact).
This is my favorite godzilla design
Same
Yep
same it even beats the legendary godzilla for me just barely tho
It's so popular that it's probably Toho's most used design for publicity aside from heisei

THIS was my first ever Godzilla film, it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Same here
Same here! I will always love this.
This was because tri-star Godzilla was a mess.
This was my 3rd my 1st was vs Space-Godzilla, then tri-stars, then this. Followed by GMK, Megaguirus, Tokyo SOS, and so on until I saw almost all of them.
The 3 hardest for me to find were vs Hedorah, Biollante, and Final Warz.
Biollante I was lucky to find at walmart, Final Warz at a thrift store, and Hedorah found online before youtube started adding Gojira movies.
I was soo lucky to knew the existence of this movie by watching it on vhs belonging to one of my old childhood friend, because i wouldn't be interested to the franchise due to the misrepresentation of the american 1998 godzilla movie. Since 2000, i've waited 14 years to see a new godzilla movie, but i never knew there was a large library of godzilla japanese movie until AVGN made the GodzillaThon series back in 2008-2009. I'm glad that Godzilla 2000 has always been my nostalgia masterpiece.... subjectively of course.
When I saw ads for the film, I initially assumed it was a sequel to '98 Godzilla.
I thought so too. Until I found out in November 2002, when I saw it the first time, it was Godzilla 2000 a separate Japanese Godzilla film redubbed in English by Tristar with added 1998 Godzilla roar sound FX.
I did too. I was only 12 or 13 but I thought it was a sequel
@Kaden Overstreet I think that’s why this film did badly in American theaters. If somehow they knew it was a different one from 1998 it could have done better.
How?
@@matthewtheobald1231 First Toho made Godzilla released in NA 2 years after 98.
Instead of just saying run, they should've said:
"If you can't take the heat... stay out of Tokyo!"
It doesn’t take place in Tokyo tho
@@vp_wrld Where does it take place tho? Also yeah he should change it from Tokyo to Japan.
@@vp_wrld I believe the final battle happens in Tokyo.
@@vp_wrld The battle between Godzilla and Orga takes place in Shinjuku, which is _in_ Tokyo.
98 Godzilla introduced me to the franchise, Godzilla 2000 is what kept me hooked for the rest of my life and made me a fan. I also love the design of this one, it's my favorite
Same

Against Mechagodzilla and Tokyo SOS are like an upgrade of this design to me and are my favorite.
@@speeder-gojira I agree those were also really good designs
In my mind, the Millennium Era is widely considered an anthology of some sorts. Each movie is completely separate from each other with the only major exception to this being the Kiryu Saga. This movie is one of my favorites Godzilla movies, featuring one of my favorite Kaiju Orga and having one of my favorite soundtrack scores. 2000 was truly a start to the new Millennium.
I still don't think there was ever a better version of Godzilla's theme than what Godzilla 2000 did.
I need to take the moment when Orga’s eye widens and have the audio “It was at this moment he knew. he fucked up.” added.
The silver and purple spines will always be the most nostalgic and radical looking Godzilla for me, love it!
This was the first Toho Godzilla I got to see at release in theatres, it was absolutely amazing compared to seeing the 98 Zilla movie hahah.
This movie came out the day after my 16th birthday in 2000. I went to see it in the theater and it rocked. I love Godzilla.
Best version for me the dorsal plates were so gigantic that they were amazing and when they lit up for his breath attack omg, omg! beautiful.
Got to admit.... That commercial with Rob zombie got me excited.
That video goes unbelievably hard
This was my first godzilla movie, and still holds a special place in my heart.
I like all the other godzilla designs but this one is my favorite. I love how big and pointy his dorsal Spines are compared to othee Godzillas. But this one looks and fights more aggressively and intimidating in my opinion.
I always considered 2000 to have the best of all Godzilla roars. So powerful and shattering.
Godzilla 2000 is my favorite godzilla ever. The movie has most of the best soundtrack ever old and new . I hope this godzilla returns. Hes still alive
I know this got a lot of flack, but this was always my favor Godzilla film (along with Godzilla 1985). I loved the way he looked in this, and wished they would have used it for more than just 1 follow-up.
Nah, they made a few movies, I can remember G 2,000, G V Megaguirus, G V Mecha G, G Tokyo SOS.
@@miamislice3280 they used a modified version of Godzilla 2000’s suite for the next film, but the others would be different designs, even though GXMG3 and SOS would have similar designs
@@lambdaweaponscache5394 Thanks.
Saw Godzilla 2000 in theaters with my brother! I remember being annoyed that his atomic breath was orange, but after '98 it was just nice to see Godzilla using his signature power. The fact he ended up fighting another monster was also an amazing surprise! Definitely a lot of nostalgia for this one
And I think the Tri Star roar kind of fits with this Godzilla. Makes him feel more like a living being.
I do not think so
Godzilla 2000 is my childhood favorite movie and I love this Godzilla design.
I remember that trailer with the rob zombie track lol I was psyched the f out!!!
Bro same. 😂🤣
This was the first Japanese Godzilla film I ever watched, after the 1998 Tristar film, of course.
Same. If it wasn't for the US release I wouldn't have known Godzilla as a series existed outside of the 98 film and the animated show.
My first was final wars for me then I saw 1998 Godzilla but I hated 1998 Godzilla
@Godzilla 2022 which King of the Monsters
I can't wait to watch your video on "Godzilla, Mothar, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack", it's one of my favorite Godzilla movies along with "Gojira 1954" and "Godzilla Vs. Biollante".
As a little kid in the mid 2000’s I would watch this movie over and over again. Even when my family moved to a different house I would ask my mom if she has the movie with her, then watch it over and over again until the dvd was so scratched up that I have to get another one. I have to say , it would be like the rug tats where Tommy sees reptar for the first time being hooked on it forever.
I saw this notification and I leapt out of my chair in excitement!!!!!!! Well worth the wait! This is my most favorite movie in the Godzilla franchise!!
I remember as an 8 year old seeing the trailer for this before Chicken Run of all things and I about lost it. Like others, the 98 film was my intro to Godzilla, but my cousins bought a bunch of Showa Era films like KKvG, Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster, etc. So by the time I knew this was coming to the big screen I couldn't wait and it didn't disappoint.
I remember seeing this in theaters when I was 6, seeing Godzilla 2019 at the cinemark by my house with my dad really brought me back to that day.
i saw this in theaters when i was in high school and it was completely empty. HEAVEN!!!
I've watched all of the films, but this is easily my favorite film in the entire series.
For me this is Godzillas most iconic and best design, his design just feels the most threatening (besides his gmk design) but also his most slick version of Godzilla we've seen. This movie also has my favorite gisnt monster ever, Orga, I love his design with how much of a juggernaut he looks like and I feel like his design could be used more in line with his attacks, the way his beam attack is used to how he is killed at the end. This movie also has my favorite poster design of all the films.
This was the first Godzilla movie I watched in theaters, I was just a kid and I was so pissed my parents didn't let me watch the American 98's movie, now I thank the kaiju God that this was my first experience, of course I had watched others on TV but nothing replaces the Roar of Godzilla on those theater's speakers...
Why on earth did your parents not allow you to watch godzilla 1998 but allowed you to watch this?
Not saying I'm upset (2000 was the better movie) but I hope it's not the typical excuse of "It's pg 13 and you're too young" when godzilla 2000 can be argued to be pg 13 as well
@@Kaiju-bm4ts I was only 8 tho, and they didn't know Godzilla movies very well, they allowed me to watch the 2000's movie because they had watched later the other ones with me on TV...
@@LordDrackonel even if they didn't know godzilla movies well it's essentially a creature feature, not much a monster film can do to mentally mess up a 8 year old. But I'm glad for the most part 2000 was your first G movie
Never saw this movie, and the couple times I played Godzilla video games I wondered what the heck Orga was. Orga has a really great design, and I thought it looked really cool how he elongated his mouth to try and eat Godzilla, and then of course the end result of trying to eat a radioactive god-dragon making it a really bad idea.
My first and favorite Godzilla movie, really got me into the whole Godzilla craze
I loved the the ending shot of godzilla walking through the city as it burns up in flames. That and godzilla killing the guy on the building were the standouts of this film for me back then.
Not gonna lie, Katagiri was one of the best characters in this movie, since he really made you hate the fuck out of him when he did what he did to Yuji Shinoda, and because he was just an asshole in general. The funny thing is, as I was watching the film, Hiroshi Abe's stoic and gritty portrayal of Katagiri really felt like he was an evil version of Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star/Hokuto No Ken, so much so that I thought that he would have been a great Kenshiro. Sure enough, he actually voiced Ken in the Legends of the True Savior HNK OVA/films, which is freaking awesome. Dude is a great actor and voice actor. Also, I have to give a lot of major props to Takehiro Murata's portrayal of Yuji Shinoda, as he was a really likable protagonist and his chemistry with the girl that plays his daughter Io was really fun to watch (particularly the scene where they think Miyasaka is on to them).
Very observant! I agree.
To me, Katagiri was an asshole, yes, but was also doing his job (saving Japan) but at the cost of Shinoda's life.
@@ricardodavis4730 Yeah, when I think of it, Katagiri's character was more of an "ends justify the means" approach to protecting Japan. While some of his intentions were good, his flaw was that he could only see things from a black and white perspective rather than trying to find another way that could be a more balanced/nuanced approach that would minimize casualties as much as possible. I know many people hate some of the human stories in G-films, but they really do have a lot of depth to them that people tend to overlook in a lot of these films. Without a good human plot, the kaiju fights wouldn't have you as invested in them, IMO.
Reliving all the good childhood movies, thanks for keeping it up.
Millennium era Godzilla had the best design and most importantly the best roar ever heard. Though I wish they kept him at 100m plus in size, but still the best none the less
hell yeah, i love his dorsal plates so much
Personally shrinking him was basically a good idea, scaling him was made much more flexible and much convincing, the buildings around the monsters can actually affect them a bit more with some being slightly bigger, or only a bit more smaller, speaking of the buildings their details have been improved thanks to the decreased size giving every scene that are purely practical, much more impressive
but they made him 100m in final wars
I hope this design, same roar, same Atomic breath will return in a future film, but imo i think makingbthe godzilla look more realistic from this design would be the best.
This was my first Godzilla film in a theater, after watching every Godzilla before it at home. My uncle took my brother and I to the premier and we were the only people in the theater that night.
I love how the Japanese films have a budget of like $10 and are somehow still good.
It changed since 2016 shin godzilla
@@aswdyzxyt7377 it is still way less than American Godzilla movies
$8-12 million for this one, which was pretty high compared to other Japanese feature films at the time.
Generally speaking, movie production is magnitudes above TV/broadcast in costs. For comparison: Sentai and Tokusatsu shows are produced on a shoestring budget compared to what western companies blow on their TV productions. Things like long running drama series(dorama/ドラマ) are even cheaper to produce.
Amazing what a business can accomplish when it doesn't pay its employees well...
Joe Dante was supposed to direct Godzilla: Reborn before it got cancelled. Considering his films Gremlins 2 and Matinee are two of my favorite movies of all time, seeing this would have been amazing
The movie would have also featured an awsome ensemble of actors such as Bruce Campbell, Jamie Lee Curtis, Leonard Nimoy, Christopher Lee, Dick Miller and Ken Takakura, among others.
Your reviews are trivia packed, detailed, entertaining, and your edits are so funny 😂 I can’t say how happy I am that I found your channel

I like to imagine that the Millennium series is the continuation of Godzilla Jr's story. Minus GMK obviously

One of my favorite classic Godzilla films.
Crazy to think this is considered a classic film now. It's been 25 years. I grew up with the Showa era films and now it seems like those films are ancient 😂
I love how in the manga version of Godzilla 2000 Orga is huge and bulky like you could believe that he could swallow whole Godzilla. If they ever do bring him back I hope they do it like that.
My first Godzilla movie.
I had the same experience with my dad in the theater with this film lmao & that rob zombie trailer sold me on this film.
This has always been one of my favorite godzilla films after the OG, just alot of fun to watch, also that godzilla vs orga theme is great
Also on that note, when Orga first emerges and godzilla charges, I love how Orga is either like "shit id rather not" or "shit what the fuck is this body i have to fight with this?" meanwhile Godzilla has never seen this new foe before but regardless hes immediately like "lets fuckin go bitch!" fantastic movie
One of my top 5 Favorite Godzilla Movies, the 1st Godzilla Film u saw that Introduced me to the"King Of The Monsters".
I would say one of the best aspects about this movie is the godzilla design. It really changes a lot while still keeping core godzilla features. Out of every godzilla design i think its easily one of the best out the entire series
Godzilla 2000 was my introduction to the franchise
This was the first Toho Gojira film I ever saw in the theater and I thoroughly enjoyed its campiness. :)
I also loved the suit design.
The only Toho Godzilla movie I've seen in theaters.
Great video! Loved seeing this movie in theaters back in 2000.
I love your videos man! I'm a huge Godzilla fan myself. Godzilla 2000 is the first Godzilla movie i ever saw and loved it! Keep up the hard work
First of all, yes I am old, and yes I remember watching this in the theaters. Loved it! Loved the design! And I really wish they would always put more neck motion into his blast. That's a lot of force coming out of that mouth. I also remember laughing at the end when, I think, the kid at the end asks why Godzilla keeps protecting us, as he continues to blow the shit out of everything with his blast. Good times.
My buddy and I laughed at the same line. We thought it was a mistranslation.
Now this is the godzilla i know and love.
Just started watching your videos. Can’t wait till you get to final wars for better or for worse
This movie was what introduced me to Godzilla as a kid. And to this day, I will say this is one of my favorites of goji
that trailer takes me back, my kid brother was jumping up and down watching it and he was begging me to call our video store and see if they got it. lol. ahh good times.
I saw the original Godzilla as a 5-year old. It was rebroadcast everyday that week on the TV in L.A.. With my imagination, I saw every foothill in the San Fernando Valley as a sleeping Godzilla, who in any minute might rise up and destroy L.A..
Years later, living at the beach in San Francisco, I had a friend, Henry, who I would play with. I had a 3-foot inflatable Godzilla, and we both had 1-foot high Godzillas. I would imitate Godzilla rampaging the livingroom smashing Lego buildings and Matchbox cars. He was five, when Japanese release of Godzilla 2000 was playing in town, and his parents allowed us to go see it in the theater, as he was pretty desensitized of the horror aspect and saw it as cartoon violence. We had a great time watching the movie, although I had to help with some of the subtitles. At the end of the movie, Godzilla roars and does his 360 spewing out his heat rays destroying the landscape, and the "The End" graphic is shown. Henry roars out "The End of Tokyo!", and the rest of the theater audience laughs along with me as we applaud.
Organizer G1? I thought it was Regenerator G1
The ONE film where many fans prefer the English dub over the Japanese one. Me included.
Godzilla 2k was the first toho G film I saw in theaters. I really liked the design of G and appreciated the fact it had an original villain. I was hoping that would continue but after Megaguirus, they went back to rehashing older monsters.
Yes, I really love this Godzilla design and the atomic breath one of my favorites
Iv been waiting for this one for awhile. This is my favourite godzilla movie mainly for sentimental reasons. Its the movie that made me a godzilla fan. Its also one of the rare few times were i think the english version is superior to the original version.
Why do you think it's superior? Usually that's not the case.
This is my first Godzilla movie when I was a kid :)
This is my favorite Godzilla despite only being in two movies. This was the first “real” Godzilla movie after growing up with the American 1998 version. Thanks for helping me relive a bit and telling more about the trivia. Gives me something to listen to
I was 4 when I saw this movie in theater. They played an ad for the grinch which scarred me for years but I fell in love with this specific design and oh my god the ROAR. Out of all of his roars this one beats them all for me.
As for Orga trying to vore godzilla (it’s the Japanese of course) I heard different theories as to why Godzilla just leaped into the jaws of his enemy willingly. My own head canon is that Big G is a very well seasoned fighter while little o is a rookie at best and desperate to get back his advantage. In opening his big maw Big G in that little roar he did right before running right in was actually a laugh. A laugh that his enemy would leave themselves that unbelievably vulnerable to attack. And we all know what happens next...
I always thought this was the JR. Version of Godzilla, complete with psychic connection, restraint AND desire for revenge. Mature fire rings would have been excellent.
That was my intro to godzilla so i love it
Love this series guy knows his Godzilla. And like him I grew up on the old Godzilla’s. Great job
Best ending. Also 2000 is my favorite film and Godzilla besides Biollante
awesome was hoping to see another vid soon, recently found your channel keep it up. and your the first to say you liked the american ending to godzilla 1985 i have seen, i agree.
Haha Raymond Burr is the truth
I remember that trailer it was so cool and was my introduction to rob zombie
Definitely the best Godzilla design 👌🏽
This form of Godzilla is my main favorite,
this was my first godzilla movie
goddamn it was good
The ending is one of my favorite Godzilla scenes of all
I remember seeing this one in theaters.
I saw this in the theater when I was a kid with my dad....kind of. Going in he didn't know it was a Japanese movie dubbed over in english. He assumed it was a sequel to Zilla. About 10 minutes in he stood up and said he wasn't sitting through "this crap" and marched into the lobby and got his ticket refunded. He assumed I would get uncomfortable by myself and follow him out. He vastly underestimated how much 11 year old me was enamored with this movie so he sat (very pissed off) in the lobby until the movie ended.
lmao
I love 11:59 because it just has a really cool explosion
Yeah those are absolutely reused Godzilla 1998 roars. They're some of my personal favorite and I grew up on that movie and the Animated Series, so they're very recognizable to me. 2000 is one of my personal favorite Godzilla movies and especially designs. He just looks badass here. I'm not a fan of the green color, but I love the purple dorsal fins.
Japanese monster movies were a huge source of joy to me as a child, especially when combined with a crazy host like Cleveland’s Superhost, Ghoulardi, and Big Chuck Polish Power, Houlihan, & Little John. Now at 57 years old watching any Godzilla movie brings back that childhood glee. How many people remember The Ghoul getting in trouble for blowing up a dead rat with an M-80 on live tv at 1am Sunday morning while showing a monster movie. Sad that type of stuff is lost forever to today’s children. The glee of being free and crazy!
11:50 What a missed opportunity to insert a "Omae Wa Mo Shindeiru" meme.
Fun fact: Hiroshi Abe voiced Kenshiro in the 2007 Hokuto No Ken OVA.
The American version of Godzilla design was actually pretty cool
this was a great godzilla movie
This is one of the most incredible channels I've ever found on RUclips. Huge Godzilla fan here, grew up with big G and the 70's wouldn't be the 70's without Godzilla for this little kid from Staten Island. Your channel and insights contained within the videos, has also shown me so much more about the monster and enlightened me to how good some of the later films actually are. This monster was a huge part also, along with Star Wars, of what drove me to to do what I do for a living and have the career I've been fortunate enough to have. Most of the creature crew for Roland and Dean's film are personal friends of mine and Curt Carley (the suit actor for that film) has played monsters in a few of my films as well. Amazing to see the history of big G here, and what you bring to it. The videos are all excellent and enjoy them quite a lot. Great job mate... thank you.
My favorite Godzilla movie! It has great characters, interesting plot, a nice soundtrack, incredible practical effects in spite of the akward cgi, and the Godzilla 2000 incarnation is also my favorite, he just looks so great with it's rough skin, flame shaped spines with a purple coloring, dinosaur-like build, the crocodilian head with a wonderful roar and animalistic personality
I tend to enjoy videos like these whenever I get the chance, but I especially want to praise the editing on this vid, blending both a documentary like feel that allows everything that gets mentioned come into view (thus giving us a better understanding of whatever is being said), mixed with funny edits that I legit gave an audible laugh. This is my first video I've seen from you but you already got me subscribed, well done sir.
Always been a fan of Godzilla, remember having the smallest old school black and white tv in my room and having the showa era movies on it. Idk if it was scyfi channel back then or not. But growing up and having toys in the 90s and then the Tristar into 2000 was a good time as very young kid and fan of Godzilla. The hiatus of films for stretches of time sucks but at the same time makes it all the sweeter when they return. Can’t even explain how it excited I was for the 2014 film.
I think the villain of this movie let's Godzilla kill him out of guilt because he had let his colleague be blown up in a building. (He survived, but in that moment he fully thought the explosion would kill him)
The Godzilla movie that started loving Godzilla was the 2014 Godzilla
