The king of the drumming world. I grew up spending countless hours listening to Rush songs on MTV and Stereo Panama radio station from 1984- 1991. He wrote the lyrics by adding a unique philosophy and strong messages that shaped my teenage years. Great nostalgia. Rush came along at a time that wasn't ready to embrace their genius while embracing the genius of their contemporary rivals who were changing Music forever! Fly by night was well received but by the time Permanent Wave came around the world was digesting the loss of some Icons of music like Elvis, John Bonham, John Lennon ...etc. The radio was still pushing the 3 minute song with some notable exceptions so it would be a few years before alot of people gave them a long hard look! Then there they were nestled in the midst of the Rock and Roll Revolution Forever and a must have for party goers in the late 70's and early 80's.
That is just from my own take on a time in my own life that was gifted with the best music of all time! Please don't hammer me with facts and dates as this is just my fond humble remembrances and opinion, Rush has been in my own collection since Fly By Night in 1974 !I loved the HOF induction and Concert!
RIP Neal Peart Rush fans everywhere will mourn your passing.

This band has amazing music and lyrics.
I've been listening to them since I was a child, and the music never gets old.
They didn't get much attention because they didn't allow the greedy music industry to tarnish their message of music.
I could easily live without TV as long as I've got great music.

If you ask anybody, most people will tell you that the number one greatest artist of all time is either The Beatles or Led Zeppelin. But they aren't. Rush is. Without getting into all the overwhelming reasons as to "why", all anybody has to do is listen to this one song. Just listen to it. The musicianship and songwriting blow anything else completely out of the water, and to this day, not a single person can compete with it. Rush stands alone. Period. They are THE greatest rock band to ever exist. It's just a shame that people wait until a death before they acknowledge how great an artist is.

17 year old me driving to work in an electric bright sunny morning with the window down my long blonde hair flowing behind me in the breeze and not a care in the world. The moment remembered but fading in the deep recess of time. It seems like an imagined world but it was real. How fortunate am I to have had such moments? How fortunate am I to have lived this long? So much has changed but this recorded music is still exactly the same. It has become a time machine that can instantly take me to long ago places an feelings.
Indeed, how fortunate am I ?

Rush is definitely one of the greatest bands, with absolutely incredible lyrics in their songs.
They didn't get as much attention as they deserved because they wouldn't allow the greedy music industry to exploit them for their own profits.

just gotta break it down and play it slow until you can play it up to speed you.. windows media player has a slow down tool, doesnt change the key of the music so you can play along.... practice makes perfect

Great job, but a couple of things are wrong in the lyrics here. "plays that song that is so elusive (not illusive")" and more importantly "FATHER SPIRIT every lingers..." Father Spirit was a local radio station where the guys in Rush lived in Canada. :) Ms. Frank
