Make no mistake, Alex Lifeson is one of rock's greatest guitarists because he takes you to so many places. He can write heavy badass bluesy riffs, psychedelic soundscapes, weird proggy chord progressions, tasteful acoustic passages, New Wave-style flourishes. And he can play one hell of a face-melting guitar solo.

Greatest is queen zeppelin or the beatles. Althought rush in my opinion is better than all those except zeppelin, you just cant argue the best is something different then those three.
My favourite part! I replay that part over and over when I listen to this song. The guitar tone and bass are so good and then Geddys vocals come in and just hit a home run. They must've known it sounded that good.

They were the epitome of ability and autodidactism. None of them had the benefits of a formal musical education, but constantly built upon their knowledge by seeking out more information, and using the raw ability that they were born with. What came out of this was pure magic. Alex used to say "individually, we're an ass, but together we are a genius." Actually, I think they were all individually geniuses, but they became something beyond that when they worked together. We're diminished by the loss of Neil, and the retirement of Alex and Geddy, but their work lives on every time someone plays it. They're a musical collaboration of incredible consequence.
Took my 12 year old son to see Rush! All night people told him You have the Cool Dad! The when in College I flew him to Phoenix from Eugene Ore. (Ducks) to see one of Neil's last performances! Rush played YYZ which was the Greatest! Thank You Rush for making me the Cool Dad!
Lifeson's solo alone is crazy amazing. Add in Geddy with his growling bass, Peart doing Peart and you get a total transcendental experience. That's Rush.
I’m a severe alcoholic. I lost a lot I. Life. Constantly in testament. I have a baby and a fiancée that I’m separated with while we are working things out. I’m a strained from a lot of my family due to the actions during active addiction but my mom and I have always listened to rush and it made our lives together a little more manageable. I’m a strained from a lot of my family due to the actions during active addiction but my mom and I have always listened to rush and it made our lives together a little more manageable. Sometimes music really is a cure, or atleast a distraction
