We go 9-8 losing a bunch of one score games, and people act like we're a couple games away from the Panthers. I personally think the changes we are making have helped improve the team at least in some aspects, and quite frankly if you look at our schedule if we work from how the teams did last year it is easy to see 9 wins (and it is definitely possible to get more). We have some tough games but a lot of them are not so tough (based off of last year, though all the teams have presumably worked to improve including us).
I’m not saying we’re that bad but if it hadn’t been the easiest schedule in the NFL that record could’ve been much worse
A couple positive things about the Saints being power ranked 30th.
1. You can say a lot of things about Derek Carr, but one thing he isn’t is a “Front Runner”. Derek Carr performs BETTER when people count him out and don’t believe in him. Which is what is funny when Saints fans thinking the Superdome booing him, is somehow going to bother him? He played his 1st 6 seasons at the Oakland Coliseum, booing alone meant it was probably a successful day. Even though people call me a “Carr Stan”, a legitimate thing Carr needs to work on is, in his handling success and hype. That won’t be a problem this season, maybe next season if the Saints become successful this season.
2. If you like to make the odd wager on sports, the Saints are what you might call, an extremely “undervalued asset”, which typically provides an opportunity to make some money.

I mean… I don’t want to jinx us or anything, but there is a pretty clear path to the Saints being one of the worst teams in the NFL.
Lots of questions on the OL, and Carr spent a lot of time injured last season. If Carr goes down with a season ending injury, do you really think Jake Haener or Spencer Rattler can lead us to 9 wins?

Last year post draft rankings: Saints-21, Carolina- 22, Atlanta- 26, Tampa- 30.
Tampa won the division So he means absolutely nothing

To be fair no one expected Tampa to be good lol pretty much everyone had them last in the South
Last year, Saints fans thought that we easily had the best QB and would dominate the South. On the other hand, the national media didn't recognize what seemed obvious to us fans. Then we went 9-8.
After that, I'm starting to get really nervous when I've seen two different power rankings, and the Saints ranked either 28 or 30.

If I recall we lost one by the kicker, one after Carr went down, a couple others that could have easily won. Really probably should have won 11 games last yr with 3/4 of the season with a crappy offense and injuries on the OL line. The Run D was porous. No idea how that will be fixed. I'm more positive than previous years with the new offensive scheme.
Wouldn't it be hilarious if the Saints end up winning the Super Bowl all because these "analysts" told everyone the Saints are a bottom five team (I guess going 9-8 twice in three years makes you bottom five. Lol)

Even in the dark years of the saints when they were 1-5 they always managed to surprise the league and finish 7-9

Good, doubt us, we’ve repeatedly disappointed. We deserve the hate, 30th is ridiculously egregious, but like an emo it hurts so good. Whenever they/I hate on the Saints they succeed, and whenever I get my hopes up they poop the bed OBJ style.

I like the 30th. It's where we were in 2005. I think there is a chance to go 11-6 but, I'm not optimistic. This won't get any better until Dennis Allen either does a 180 in his approach to his job. Or, he's let go.

Name one good thing about the Saints ... they were shut out several time in the 1st quarter, didn't score a TD vs good teams until the 4th for at least 3 times, thay have a QB who don't follow his progressions. Last year was the 70's Saints.
- Completely new offensive coaching staff
- Starting RB isn't starting the year suspended
- Upgrades at edge rusher

@@JamesSkrmetta The 70s team never had this type of talent, but the QB situation was the same. They had lousy QB play ... and all you are saying, wait until next year. This team should have had 2 SB under it belt if it wasn't for the poor decisions of Sean Payton play calling in the playoffs. Every time they failed it was wait til next year now those guys from the 2017 draft one of the best draft I've seen are all but gone. You have a old DL from the 2011 draft who has grown slow. I'm surprised AK hasn't left, those guys in his class has moved to other teams. Latty should have been left, its only gonna get worse on D.
You mentioned the Saints wins last season? I counted 12 that Carr needed to win 5 but based on how Carr played not doing the basics, if he does it again by the 6 games with the new OC he will be on the pine / again.
11:58 Pardon me, but the Raiders crushed the Super Bowl champs a few weeks before they won the SB. They crushed the Chargers so badly they fired their head coach a few hours later. They got off to a bad start with a coach who was still working for the Patriots, working to tear down the team. Their rookie qb was thrust into the game without first team reps and in his last few games finished 8 td to 1 interception (now he'll have a whole off season and will enter his second year). Their defense was the highest rated towards the end of the season and only got better this off season adding Christian Wilkins (8 players in the NFL played 95% of their snaps, Wilkins joins Crosby as two of those 8; they both need double teamed, but even the double teams will get tired). I know your stance on Antonio Pierce isn't high, but he brought in two other experienced coaches, like Marvin Lewis who's Baltimore Ravens set the record for the fewest points allowed in a 16 game season and led the franchise to their first Super Bowl. Antonio will handle the leadership and inspiration.
So no, they're not the bottom of the barrel, definitely not horrible. Similar to the Saints who started off slow, one less loss and they would be a playoff team.
Raiders had the 27th ranked offense last year and finished ranked overall 21st in dvoa. They need to get better than Aiden O'Connell and Gardner Minshew before they get moved up any rankings.

I'm a Saints fan and always will be, but I have to be honest, Carr and Dennis Allen are horrible. We can continue to make excuses but we IMO we need a better QB and Head Coach.

Alright James, I think you’re allowing your frustrations with the ranking of the Saints to spill over into Raider hate…the Raider’s finished with only one less loss than the Saints did last year, despite having an in season coaching and QB change…and also, went on the Road on Christmas Day and beat the Chiefs, in K.C., with the rookie QB and HC. What Saints win was that impressive last year? I think the Raider’s offseason potential looks extremely bright, the QB can’t do any worse than he did last year right…regardless of what you think about him, he led the team to a winning record despite all the adversity that he faced.
I will be down on any team in the NFL starting Aiden O'Connell or Gardener Minshew at QB.

Until Dennis Allen is replaced, it is realistic number for the Saints.
Since 2006, the Saints have won 175 games. That's 5th best in the league. More than the Chiefs, Cowboys, 49ers, Bills, etc. Since the year 2000, we are the 7th winningest team. We are a top ten franchise for the last 25 years PERIOD. The disrespect is outrageous. Btw, the other NFC south teams since 2000 - Buccaneers at 23, Falcons at 16, and Panthers at 24.

Nice vid James. No one is going to respect the Saints unless Dennis Allen and Derek Carr prove that they can win a playoff game. I think these offseason takes and rankings are more about the teams upside and potential downside. The saints may not have those 5-12, 4-13 seasons, but we also don't have the right head coach and probably the wrong qb. So I see both sides. Maybe Kubiak is the future, but at least the Panthers got rid of their coach, at least the Falcons got two new qbs, and at least the Broncos are worse than us on this list : )

Im not going to lie to you, i agree with you on alot of things, but this one aint it... i can already smell the next set of excuses for when derek carr is a lousy QB yet again another year what will be the next excuse "oh its a new system and hes not used to it yet"..... hes a avg at best qb on a good day, usually hes ineffecient, just constantly checking down, holding on to the ball to long and takes hits and then acts hurt, but never missed no game cuz jameis winston woulda took his job sadly... get ready for our defense to be out on the field all game long, cuz carr's ineffeciencies as a QB.... with all that said, thats why we are probably ranked so low.... im not surprised..... we had a great draft so i am abit more optimistic since draft day.
