I know it sounds cute for these talking heads to say it, but when the Saints acquired Carr they were not thinking about him being a “bridge” QB. He is already a seasoned franchise QB who can be productive for 10 more years.

PFF preseason rankings ALWAYS sleep on Carr. Ever since ranking him top 10 after 2016, and claiming they "learned their lesson" on Carr, they've consistently ranked him far lower then his grade from the previous season. Carr is the 8th graded QB in the NFL in '20, PFF has him as the 20th ranked QB going into '21 😂.
They openly claimed that Carr not being consistent in the beginning of seasons is "who he is", and not the fact that every single one of the seasons they were referring to, Carr was in a new system. They have zero context, they have no idea when it's a WR mistake or a QB mistake a lot of the time, and buy into hype every season. I used to reference them all the time. Avoid them like the plague now.

Carr's contract is a bargain for his production (way better than cousins, mayfield, murrays and some others).
I get they couldve signed some players to bolster the defense but with the dalton/winston combo as qb and pete as oc we still wouldve won like 6-7 games, carr gives us a chance to compete and install functioning offenses, in fact he carried it last season with a bad running game

  • @TheStacanova

I think the ONLY thing the video proves is that Derek Carr is living rent free in Matt Moscona’s head.
This isn’t just when he’s on the clock, he’s thinking about DC in his off time.
Also, there’s no “metric” involved in PFF’s ranking, they just made it up.
They ranked Carr below what they graded him last season,
Derek Carr had a 77.2 grade in 2023, Joe Burrow graded 77.9, which is as near as makes no difference the same, for their play in 2023.
You could say “Burrow was playing injured”, yes & so was Carr.
They dropped Carr down in their rankings even though in most seasons he graded much higher and they raised Burrow 15 spots in the rankings?

Pea Brain Moscona hates DC and DA. I wonder if Pea Brain Moscona realizes that after this year, Equalizer DA could have a better first 3 year record with the Saints than Bong Sean had?
I am so proud of Equalizer DA. He went out last year and got his QB, the Bugatti Carr. Now he got rid of No Clue Carmichael, Cancer MT and Don’t Listen Winston, he brought in a whole new offensive staff and signed some key free agents.
But wait a minute. I thought these silly follow the crowd groupthink shallow Saints “fans” were telling us that no one wants to play or coach for DA? Well it looks like he has had no problem getting the players and the coaches that he wanted. It looks like the “fans” were wrong again.

Agreed, but people that dont know football think its all about the qb.
The easiest example is looking at the raiders, they replaced carr with jimmy g who they claimed was "a winner" and went from 10th scoring to 23rd, the casuals drank the kool aid but people who knows football knew they were going to fail.
If you put carr in those 49ers teams he would have 2 rings already and his overall perception would be different.
Is the same as stafford that was stuck on the lions, the difference is thst he went to a team that was contending with one of the best offensive HCs in the league, carr came to play with the 32nd ranked oc.
If kubiak is at least average carr numbers will be in the top 10

Yep. Jimmy G is the perfect example. Jimmy is the quintessential system QB. He was halfway decent only because he was in the right system and was surrounded by superior talent.
Carr, on the other hand, has played on mostly terrible teams and yet has still put up the numbers and has the most game winning drives since 2016, which proves that he is much more than just a system QB. He is an elite QB with superior arm talent and is at his best when he is winging it. Had SF had their way and acquired Carr in that trade like they wanted, they would have won those 2 SB’s. And had Andy Reid got his way and drafted Carr, and Carr would have played for a stable organization with an offensive guru like Reid as his coach for all them years, there would be no one saying he is a “mid” QB.
But most people can’t see that. They just follow the crowd and they have no vision.

The fact is the qb market is what determined that number not Carr. There are only 2 starting qb's, who aren't on rookie (baker and geno), that get paid less the Carr. Carr is on the lower end of starting qb contracts. If Carr not in that position someone else would be getting paid that much. Carr just the guy who was available when the position opened up. If we didn't pay Carr we'd be riding the mid 1st round pick qb carousel hoping to be packers and not jets

Last year the Saints were expected to win the NFC South and make a run in the playoffs last year. Experts were very wrong with their predictions last year. I'm glad we are being positive, but this new system within the organization. It not unfamiliar around the league and has been stop before. The Chiefs had the formula that slowed 49ers high powered offense down, and we have to pray that teams do not take notice. Low expectations are better than high expectations that can turn into negativity toward this teak.

Under payton and brees winning the division and making a playoff run was never off the table. Under allen and car we might win the division because the division is so weak. Getting to 10 wins and hosting a playoff game would be a step in the right direction for this team. Perhaps a lofty goal. But matt loves to dwell on the negitive. Were not gonna win a superbowl so hes gonna sing his sad song. Im over it been a saints fan a long time seen much worse times.

Nobody knows who can win a superbowl and who cant, the lions werent ranked high at the beginning of last season and they were minutes away from getting there (I could make the argument that we wouldve beat them if carr doesnt get Injuried, we were coming back and he was on a 15 completion streak).
The 2017 eagles odds to win the superbowl before the season were +4000 or so and they won it, winning a superbowl isnt always about the best team, sometimes some teams click and get hot at teh right time (we were doing so last season), with the state of the nfc I dont think we are our of the picture, this defense was giving fits to every offense out there

The only plus side of Matt’s videos are that they are generally short enough that you haven’t wasted more than about 10 minutes. This particular video is twice that long and is just Matt having a hissy fit based on an arbitrary metric that is of dubious accuracy and zero value added. Worse, I already wasted too many min even though running it at 1.25x speed. Hopefully, DA’s separated-at-birth and cryogenically-stored twin fetus for 10-15 years, James S. will and poke fun at Moscone’s moronic rant and manage to entertain us enough to salvage the time previously wasted.

FWIW, I got Watson ranked 11th between Herbert and Hurts. I got Russell Wilson ranked 16th in between Jacoby Brissett and Kyler Murray. I got Derek ranked 22nd between Jordan Love and Geno Smith....
I also have to say that I got Dak nestled in between Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers @ 4, 5, & 6 since Aaron started slipping. Time will tell on the AR front. 6 is still really high to be ranked.
I have to agree with you that any one of these guys can Win on Any Given Sunday, but I have to say that was a pretty good roast.
The most times Derek has guided his team to at least 20 points in a season is 11. He's done that 3 times... ...and he currently has done it 2 years in a row...
The point is, other QB's just have more good games. Let's hope DC can eclipse that 11 game mark and not just 'prove the haters wrong' at the beginning of the season only to flounder.
