The young queen Floor always had the vocal chops needed to impress her audience. She revived some of her older selections of music in her newly established solo concerts. Plus with Floor's other collaborations with other musicians, she has a impressive repertoire that spreads out in vast directions. She even sings in the popular video game, "Final Fantasy Chronicles". There is footage of her in studio with orchestra recording the music for the game. Her vocals makes you want to pick up a joystick and submerge into the game. Providing a link for fun, to check out. ruclips.net/video/oVdi1We_7fs/видео.html

Kopspijkers letterly means head nails, thank you having done my request and enjoyed again your comments. Listening to this song that's why Floor deserves her title 6ft. Valkery Goddess of Metal. More heavier stuff that time, such a difference comparing with her Elan song you commented earlier.

Well, Floor kills it...again. Surprised by the presence of the violins but they really do add to the vibe. But this is a pretty depressing song. Someone who is troubled and stressed over something they have done and they are deeply regretting it and don't see a way out. Stay safe, God bless, keep rocking.

First time I heard Floor, with After Forever, on May 5 2004, bevrijdingspop (liberation day in The Netherlands), I immediately became a huge fan. I knew nothing about symphonic metal, or gothic, until that day. She's such a talent, and live; amazing. Thanks for your reaction. I'm digging it 😉🤘

Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but this version of the song is the radio edit. This version had a bit cut out where Sanders/Mark Jensen do growl vocals. I assume they wanted to appeal to the crowd without the growl vocals.
Not too many reaction channels doing After Forever, I hope you guys do a few more, I think they were a great band. "Estranged" is one of my favorites.

Floor was 17 when they started the band, before she was classical trained . They unfortunatly split up at 2007 and Floor was devistaded. She tried to keep them together, but the coudn't. Die started Revamp, also writing the songs, but it was not where her heart was after. Die had a very serious burn out. Totally depressief, could not do anything, not even go outside. Het parents took care of her and were extremely worried. After a long time die got up her feet again and.....Nightwish called. They needed her.
Some guys from this band started Epica with Floors bff Simone and they still care a lot about eachother.
I was them this week live again ....musical. I feel like I still have fairy dust all over me. Not ons wrong more, tight and spot on, with do much emotions. What a band!
Thank you sweet people for teaching on this song.

But at the time I was too busy starting a family, working hard, trying to be a good dad and doing a lot of sport in my spare time. So I missed out on a lot of good music.
The translation of Kopspijkers is literally Head Nails, meaning a tack nail or a hob nail, the pronunciation is difficult to do in English, because you have nothing that sounds like the letter ij, I think the closest you get is saying the slang word for Police, Cop and then Spy and Curse , so CopSpyCurse.

Great reaction guys! Have you reacted already to After Forever's rendition of "Alone" (by Heart)? If not, you should definitely check it out. IMO one of the best vocal performances by Floor (in my personal top 3), and better than the last one she did recently IMO. Floor's passion is blazing gigantically(!) in this one. And in 2007 Ann Wilson did a radio interview (I don't know for what radio station) and she mentioned a metal band from The Netherlands that covered Alone. She also said that Floor's vocals blew her away & this cover introduced her to Floor, who she thought covered Alone beautifully. I believe there's only a studio-version available on youtube (sound only + slideshow of Floor&Band), and it's gooood: ruclips.net/video/oIzuTlabP68/видео.html

      I konkur.
This time you spelled Købendam korrektly. Apprøved.
A small wall of text incoming.
I've been force-feeding me some After Forever lately. Still not a huge fan of their music (though it's growing on me), but I AM a huge fan of Floor, so I need more. First thing I noticed is how unrestrained she was back then. We don't get to hear these wild soprano solos anymore. I can see why ye olde fans say that she was better with AF. Not necessarily "better", but there was "more" of her and nobody was limiting her but herself. Tuomas doesn't let her loose, using her as one of the instruments precisely where it's needed. We could even go so far as to say that he applies her voice in relatively small doses, using it as a cookie for the audience waiting for "the note" - though she's perfectly capable of singing those "notes" throughout the whole song and the whole concert. So I do get the point of those who believe her potential to be underutilized.
But I don't really see what kind of music could fit her perfectly. Her going full classical and singing pure opera is the last thing I want to hear. Opera is boring and obsolete. Her solo stuff is basically pop. Much softer music that doesn't obscure her beautiful voice, so it's not bad. But I guess we won't get anything better than Nightwish anytime soon.
P.S. I can't like your comment - all my likes are being automatically removed. Sometimes it happens to my comments too, so if I don't reply when I'm supposed to - that's why.
      RUclips is broken.

@@noneofyerbeeswax8194 Wonderful WoT again. I'd say that, as far as NW is concerned, the music most fitting for Floor turned out to be music not specifically written for her. She's displayed an uncanny ability to revitalize the old stuff and make it sound the way it was supposed to all along. Since she's a metalhead at heart, I prefer the music to be metal and not the filmscorish, folksy "gaia good" orchestral rock that adorns the world of NW a tad bit too much imo. Very curious abt the nxt album. Me thinks it will be their last one considering the circumstances, and that Floor will continue as a solo-artist after their last tour.

@@BrendonChase_2015 Sorry for the late reply, been having a moment of life outside of RUclips.
      A WoT again.
That's a grim prediction you made there. Not unrealistic though. Do you know something I don't? Or were you referring to "the circumstances" as in general? Because I don't see any specific reason for them to break up - though I DO have a feeling that it might happen.
It's funny that Floor is the most metal singer of the three and yet the two albums with her (especially the latest one) are the least metal of all. Looks like when Tuomas had realized that she could sing anything, he partially returned to the initial idea of a folk project. I don't mind folk - up to a point. It can become boring and repetitive, and you really don't need a vocalist like Floor to sing it, it's called "folk" for a reason. It's good in small doses.
1/3 of the HN album is sorta neoclassical music - which automatically makes it a failure, because classical music is completely fossilized at this point, the sound has been perfected and no matter what you write, it's always gonna be considered inferior to the trve OG classic because of the kvlt factor. Nobody is gonna listen to it or play it unless it's used as a filmscore. There are no worse kvltists in music than the classical elitists who are totally convinced that the whole musical progress during the past 120+ years is just heresy. That's where the real cult is, no kidding. Been there, escaped about 15 years ago.
Fantasy has always been a big source of inspiration for Tuomas. It hasn't really changed, except now when he's all grown up, he has switched from Tolkien to Dawkins, so to speak. I don't know what the next album will be like, but my expectations are... moderate. He's a really talented composer but I suspect that he will find a way to screw it up.
Floor deserves some epic metal symphonies to be written for her. Tuomas is perfectly capable of it, but it looks like he can't be bothered. He's kind of in a tight spot, to be fair. In order to keep the appeal to the broader audience, he can't really deviate much, neither towards metal, nor from it.

@@noneofyerbeeswax8194 I fully understand. Sometimes Tw@tter just can't wait ;) Have to keep it somewhat short today (feeling a bit under the weather). The hunch I have is mainly bcz I think Floor wants another addition to her family. So one more round (album), give it her all and then it's family first. That's what my crystal ball showed me. Perhaps not the end but a prolonged hiatus or something.
As to Tuomas & metal. I don't believe he's a trve metalhead and only turns metal when deeply unhappy, i.e. either "zum Tode betrübt" or mad as h3ll. He seems genuinely happy these days and with Troy's influence raised to the max, I fear "Folk Love Score" galore, haha.
Some track titles.. CD1: "Endless Forms Mostly Beautiful pt.3"; "The Shetländer"; "Once Upon PanGaea"; "Serenity a Requiem"; "Into the Woden"; "Pantagruel refizz" (extended jazz version). CD2: "Backyard Gardening With Bruce". CD3: "Silence".
Anyhew, let's wait & see. Gimme Tolkvn anytime. He grew more & more radical as he got older, while Dawkins is just boring pantomime "science". Cheers from the DVTCHMARK 🤘

@@frank1963 my comment was a little crass. I’m not one to reduce anyone to physical appeal only. But in this video she seems to radiate youth. - I have met Floor before without stage makeup and what struck me was how fair skinned she was with freckles everywhere. She takes after her father Paul in her colouring as he is very fair skinned also.
Floors appeal is that she is very normal with no airs or graces and is genuinely appreciative of her talent and her fans. She takes nothing for granted. It’s impossible (in my opinion) to reduce Floor to simple eye candy. She is so much more than that.

It's hard to find a composer that assorts better with Floor than Tuomas. Yet "After Forever" were Floor's first steps in music business. There she learned many necessary skills on and off the stage, required for a professional singer in a Metal band, including her headbanging. If I could choose between an After Forever concert with Floor and a Nightwish concert with Tarja at those times, I would like to wait for a Nightwish concert with Floor!!" Does it make sense?

You were close with your pronounciation of "Kopspijkers". The only difficulty is the "ij" an unique letter (yes only one letter, not two) to the Dutch language. You pronounce "ij" as "I" in English (more or less).
