Great one, thanks, love your dogs. Our dog sleeps quietly and barks only 3 - 4 times a year. She a mix with greyhound and poodle. These early Nightwish songs are so great, you never get tired to listen to their music no matter when Tuomas wrote the songs.

I am glad you guys are still going so many great songs by Nightwish yet to hear. I got like 40 favorites by Nightwish, and even the ones I don't consider amongst my favorites are still really good. This one I love.

I loved this when I only knew the Tarja version, but this performance is Outstanding!!
This is one of my all-time favourites by Nightwish and Floor is doing a spectacular job here. Also, with Wishmaster, my favourite guitar solo by Emmpu, it fits the song so well!
The sad part about watching these Nightwish Classics like this is that Decades Tour was essentially to put a load of these wonderful songs to rest from the live performances. I especially love this Buenos Areas Concert because it has all the classics prior to Human :!!: Nature.

This song always makes me reflect on what Jesus was thinking, waiting in the garden, knowing the Romans would arrest him in the morning. Tuomas has said this song is about a woman but never went beyond that. Some have speculated that was Tarja. Others have pointed to the lines about easter, tombs, and the lines "The Lord weeps with me But my tears fall for you" as showing it is definitely about Jesus. For me, it is just a beautiful song about love and loss. Like all of Tuomas work, pure poetry whose meaning is dependent on how each person reads it. Thanks again, stay safe, God bless, keep rocking.
Loved the reaction guys. Tuomas on the keys is fantastic. I love his metal Mozart in full swing here on the keyboard. All of them, the whole band fit together hand in glove so perfectly, even with all the intricate details they nail every song live like one after the other.. 🎶🎹🎹🎹🎶

@@frank1963 A pretty straightforward and lovely banger of a song, laced with all of Floor's dynamics. You tend to take the vocal harmonies with Marko for granted, until you actually try to sing his part yourself. Really have to don my ultra-tight speedos to get that high! 😂

Love "Deep Silent Complete". A wonderful recommendation. We need the 2nd Hand Souls to react to this song. It's simply beautiful in every way, as they all meld together seamlessly. Marko and Floor sing like one instrument.

This song is really old school Nightwish, from their second album Oceanborn. That album started their 'Operatic Power Metal' journey and Gethsemane was definetely one of their signature songs in those first couple of years. This Decades version with Floor is great - they made some small changes and Troy came along. A really nice version that stays close to the original. Just shows how great a composer Tuomas was already at a very young age.
Great words Valtte. Tuomas created magic right from the start. I literally feel that I have won the music lottery having found Nightwish. They are dear to me.. words can´t describe it really.

This is a good song that Tuomas wrote for 'a certain woman'. He references the biblical story (Gethsemane garden) to describe his lost love. Even though it's not one of my favourite Nightwish songs, it has some memorable lyrics such as 'Enchantment has but one truth, I weep to have what I fear to lose' and 'Without you, The poetry within me is dead'.

Wikipedia sums it up as "Gethsemane is a garden at the foot of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem where, according to the four Gospels of the New Testament, Jesus underwent the agony in the garden and was arrested before his crucifixion."
This is from early in NW's career and Toumas was questioning his faith which comes about in his lyrics. IMO he is comparing his love for Tarja with the agony that Jesus went through.

Alabama and South Carolina (where the me is) are above the equator. New Zealand is below. The earth spins on it's axis which produces day and night. It also moves around the sun in an elliptical circle which takes one year. The earth's axis is tilted in respect to that orbital plane. When the earth's axis is pointed toward the sun it is summer for that hemisphere and when it points away it is winter. Spring and Autumn are in between. Therefore .. Alabama and South Carolina in winter the axis is pointed away from the sun but New Zealand being that it is on the other side of the planet is pointing toward the sun and therefore summer.
This whole concert is superb. IMO better even than Wacken 2013.

Check the video in 1998 ... the best live one of this. They all have short hairs, Boys just got out of military service.
A song with obvious Christian references, but not about Jesus Christ. One of the songs that make people wonder about his feelings towards Tarja. The narrator of the song in conflict, turmoil over a desire for someone. Wishing, praying to have them to his own. A song of unrequited love, or uncommunicated love, like Ghost Love Score. He equates the pain and loneliness of his desire to the anguish of Christ at Gethsemane.

This song is really different from most of Tuomas' others. As I read the lyrics, it's a very complex poem woven into the disciples minds who were struggling to make sense of what had happened.

Buenos Aires was 2018 (the year 2019 mentioned only the year of release from the Decades DVD)
Wacken Open Air festival was 2013
Tampere and Wembley were in 2015.
Gethsemane was the name of the garden in which Jesus Christ was very frightening of what was to come. In which He begs God the Father thrice to bleed or the cup of punishment for sin (of all the world) might pass before Him, but gradual change with: "Not my will be done, but Yours be done. After those prayers He was betrayed by Judas and captured by the henchmen of the Jewish Sanhedrin to be sentenced to death and then crucified.
Great reaction, however you might want to take the video back a couple of seconds after you stop for a chat? It gives us a chance to remember where we were in the song. Only saying guys. 🏴😁

The Garden of Gethsemane is the place were Jesus hid from the Romans and did a lot of his thinking. It is also referenced in Dead Boys Poem: "Died for the beauty, the one in the garden

Young Tuomas often compared his struggles to Jesus. Being young, idolised, knowing you're doing something great, but not being able to really handle that kind of attention that results from that.

You're probably right. Imo Tarja has no clear idea what she sings about. I don't think she ever truly understood the depth of Tuomas compositions and was not that connected with his lyrics as for instance Floor is.
Tarja was iconic in this song, I don't think anyone can do it better than her. And she was like 21 when performing this.

This has nothing to do with the song in Jesus Christ Superstar. This is not a version of that song or even influenced by it so it makes no sense to compare the two.
