    You're the only person I've seen talking about the base model 14, I liked and subbed + I'm looking forward to the review! I currently have an M1 Air, you'll be the deciding factor on whether it's worth upgrading or not :) I mainly dabble with Logic Pro and m1 air has executed that flawlessly for me

      i actually bought the 14 inch model with 2tb and 32gb and the m1 pro 10c16c16c because i am thinking of the wattage and heat plus who the hell needs a graphics performance comparable to a rtx 3080 in a laptop which is for productivity. Now i will get a slightly higher performance than a rtx 3050ti or a 5600m which is still plenty and the damn thing will run cool and quiet like a feeding donkey. up to 65 watts in a 14 inch mbp with maybe only 1 cooler, idk tbh. But i used my mbp13 from late 2011 up until now and it still runs fine up to date :D will be a biiiig bump now!

    That 14 inch MacBook Pro looks like a great bang for buck machine. For now, I'm keeping my M1 MacBook Air 8GB RAM as my photography and video edit is more of a side hustle and the Air handles it with no issues. But if the side hustle picks up, definitely upgrading to a MacBook Pro.

Im hoping to have this for another 6 or 7 years so am trying to future proof this guy as much as i can! @@murraybisset9301 you'll be fine with the pro on 14-core gpu.
      Music will rely on the cpu, and the 10-core is more than enough for ableton/logic with 102391023901 tracks.
      Photo editing will use some GPU, but again, 14-core GPU is more than enough for that and video editing. Only reason to go MAX is if you're going to be doing heavy video editing in 8k. And by heavy I mean trying to make a film with heavy animations. Having fun editing videos in 4k will be easy on the Pro, as would making a 3D video game.
      Here's the m1 running FFXIV pretty alright ruclips.net/video/PE64Cy3AYTA/видео.html
      Get the 32gb RAM. You might get away with 16GB, but with 32GB you'd never hit the max unless youre trying to game, make music, and edit photos all at once. But even then, you'd prob handle it with 32GB.
      You could get the 24-core for, what, $300 more? You'd get more joy if you used that money towards an ipad to read your textbooks.

    • @martin21122
      @martin21122 2 года назад

      For reference, I'm on a mid 2012 Retina and it can handle making music, though it does lag after enough tracks. I can edit photos fine, do 1080p video editing alright, and run Skyrim with mods at 1080p. I bought an ipad for university and it was great taking notes on the macbook and having all my books on my ipad to take to class/the library.

    Unpopular take: I think the reverse direction on ports is a mistake. I have everything set up with USB-C. My Nikon Z6 camera does not use SD cards. I rarely use HDMI out. I use external drives with USB-C, power with USB-C, card reader USB-C. I don’t want MagSafe power to have another cord. I wish my 2017 MBP had an SD card all this time, but now it is too late. I am glad to lose the Touch Bar, i never took to it. So if you have a drone with a mini card or a modern mirror less with CF Express, the new ports dont make sense. I am likely getting a similar model as discussed - 14 M1 Pro, for photography and office stuff. Good video sir.

      Agree on dongles being okay, gives more flexibility to upgrade card readers for speed. I have a combo CF Express and SD card reader which is good for me. Others might want SD plus micro-SD for drones, so one built in (not the fastest) SD reader is meh for me….

    The dilemma is real! I'd hoped for a slightly cheaper 14" model. As a windows user I'm willing to switch to these M1 (Pro) Macbooks to create my videos and photos. I currently edit on an old and basic windows machine which takes ages to render my videos in full HD. Torn between the 13" macbook pro with 16GB and 1TB SSD or the base model 14" pro or the upgraded one to 1TB SSD and M1 Pro with 10 cores/16 cores GPU. Do you think I'd need anything like this for let's say weekly vlogs/videos when editing in Davinci Resolve or even FCPX?

    • @b3naqua
      @b3naqua  2 года назад +1

      If you have the budget, I’d go for the 14 inch base model and see how that goes. The 16gb M1 13” would also slice right thru video if you’re on more of a budget

    I have kind of a bizarre question: For someone who does photo editing and who is currently using an M1 MacBook Air, would you recommend upgrading to this new MacBook Pro or would you at least recommend not even thinking about upgrading until the next MacBook Air with the new Apple Silicon processor comes out!
