In Day 6 of our series documenting the construction of my bespoke cowboy boots from legendary bootmaker Lee Miller, we are finally at the end! Today is delivery day, so all that remains for Lee to do is give the boots their final shine and then prepare to give them to me. It seemed only fitting that to try on my new cowboy boots, I should wear an outfit that suited, so to mark the occasion, I brought with me my Wrangler jeans, a belt buckle from my Grandfather, and a Lyle Lovett western shirt from Hamilton. Check out the incredible shirt here:

This series follows along the making of a pair of western cowboy boots totally by hand by one of America’s most famous boot makers, Lee Miller. The entire series is comprised of six separate days of filming, each which will be released individually. This is in addition to separate videos documenting the bespoke measurement process, last design, and boot leg design. Links to these videos can all be found below.

As a European, I'd see this sort of footwear as an intrinsically American heritage. Wonderful workmanship and talent.
Mexican and American southwest heritage, to be more focused.
From the east coast of the USA here, and this definitely feels traditionally American to me as well. I really love the melding of craft and art into what really is a work boot, meant to be used. The individualism of the design also speaks to the individual spirit. I would to love someday own a pair. What a great series this was!!!!
As an Englishman I would wear them..What part of Europe are you from ?...🤔
@@douglasgreen437 I am Australian and I wear custom cowboy boots ( not made by Miller but by a local boot maker all in roo leather ) I never liked the chelsea boots here ( RM Williams) Seeing you wear the tops inside your jeans/pants most people dont notice and those who do have only had positive things to say about them .
there’s something magical about cowboy boots!
Well call me surprised! Alright Kirby! You actually "manned up" and dressed like a proper Texan for this occasion! Wearing actual wranglers! I'm actually impressed! I tip my hat to you, sir!
nice, just didn't get as starched up as I'd have hoped, haha
I was a bit concerned at the early shot of Kirby wearing the boots OUTSIDE the jeans....looking like a pirate.
I'm sad Lee Miller is retiring soon but I celebrate the time we had Blessed with his craftsmanship. Congratulations Kirby Allison 👏 you are lucky to have partnered on boots with a LEGEND.
What an amazing pair of boots. I love listening to Lee explain in great detail what he was doing his voice is very soothing
He reminds me of my 10th grade shop teacher!
It’s so funny that the first video of yours that I watched was when Lee measured you for these boots. What a long journey it’s been.
Seriously, this 6-part series could be an amazing documentary. Well done.
Congratulations Kirby. I watched the first video over 5 years ago when Lee was measuring your feet and have kept up with the progress through your videos. The last series is a wonderful culmination of that journey. Lee is truly a master and I can't wait for my turn to start that journey. You have a beautiful pair of bespoke boots that you can add to your other bespoke footwear.
After watching your entertaining fittings and updates, I am pleased to see the final segment of this journey back into the meaning and tradition of the cowboy boot. The western boot seems to be the ultimate distillation of all American footwear. The cowboy boot takes two pieces of leather and shapes them to the purpose of a perfect fit for the individual foot from heel to toe in a uniquely American way. Of all the custom shoes you have commissioned abroad, Lee Miller's workmanship rises to the level of art. A final point, Lee Miller's personal style is exemplary, what the Italians call 'sprezzatura' - he achieves elegance without dandyism or foppishness. Lee Miller represents the pinnacle of American boot design, craftsmanship and natural elegance - a form of effortless superiority that is neither ostentatious nor elitist. Bravo!
Thank you for sharing this journey with us, Lee Miller and Kirby Allison! It has been a true pleasure for me and many others, I'm sure. Thank you!
Wear those to a traditional pheasant shoot here in the UK Kirby. That would certainly draw some attention! 😂👍
@@NedTheEvictor1274 Lever action, true cowboy
I love the cowboy stance Lee takes at 15:55 when he's observing Kirby put on the boots...His personal well-worn boots, jeans and stance, just so perfect! Fabulous journey to see art come to life in this way. As a new subscriber, I'm really enjoying your various journeys...
in all honesty, that tweed PoW jacket is a gorgeous, well-cut, proportional jacket, probably one of your very very best if not the best jacket you own!!
Well done pairing your new cowboy boots with the rest of the outfit!
The pair of jeans is terrible, come on
@@vianouche1 of course they are, the fit is terrible but the overall balance of the materials and textures is pretty dang good!
I'd give it a pass, well
Maybe you could mix it up your next Scottish shoot. Tweeds and cowboy boots.......Set a new trend😀.
As a Brit, I think it's wonderful we have such a rich heritage in fine clothing, gunsmithing, and arguably the classiest cars.
LOL I was thinking something along those lines. Would Kirby have the nerve to wear those boots on an English hunt on horseback?
@@cyrilhudak4568 Hey basically negates the need for wellies while looking sharper.
We need to see you wear these Kirby. Boots go so well with suits and these beautiful boots will go with just about anything. I've started transitioning to boots with my dress clothes more now I hit twenties.
This was wonderful to watch from beginning to end,it was a real pleasure to watch a master at his craft. In this age of mundane quality and acceptance it’s good to know there is high quality pride in workmanship folks still around. For those of you out there that have been told “ you’re too particular, too fussy, too meticulous to work here,”don’t throw in the towel and conform, stay true to what you believe is right and makes you happy, become a Lee Miller, the world needs you.
Lord would I love to have a pair of custom boots made by Lee Miller!
That was the most satisfying pop I’ve ever heard from a boot when he put those on. Wow what a great fit!
I really felt that ending.. the appreciation on both ends. Such an awesome group of videos these have been
I've never been interested in owning cowboy boots, but I'm a huge fan of anything thats custom handcrafted artisan. The first episode popped up in my timeline and I watched them all. Such beautiful work and attention to every tiny detail. Truly amazing Americana.
Belt buckle with your royal blue and gold cannon signature would be amazing Kirby. I believe Nathaniel in the future would appreciate it like your grandfather did with you.
A true boot is measured when dismounting a pure breed
It's been an adventure. From the first video to the final delivery, I realy felt we followed Kirby through this boot purchase. And seeing Kirby in his denim/western outfit somehow felt emotional. Probably because the videos are so well done.
Enjoy the boots, Kirby.
What a pair of boots. Honestly seeing them progress through all the videos I have come to love the tulip design.
Thanks for sharing.
I’m a retired Boilermaker, I always wore Wesco boots, made to my feet, very good work boot.
Really enjoy your videos!
Beautiful!!! Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge. I grew up on a cattle ranch in Texas. I have a much greater appreciation for my boots after watching this!
I hope he is teaching someone else. He won't be around for ever. I want a pair made from him aswell. Beautiful craftsmanship. 😍
Outstanding series. Congrats. I hope we see more of you wearing those boots in the future.
Wow !!!! Absolutely loved this series. Hate to see it end .
Absolutely GORGEOUS pair of boots and I enjoyed this series almost as much as your cigar sit-downs with the Sahakians! Thank you for sharing this experience with all of us!
This guy is like a foot doctor, and the Shoemaker all rolled into one
True craftsman. Beautiful pair of handmade boots. Thank you for documenting and sharing this experience. Bravo
It's really been four years...have been waiting for this video for four years...incredible!!!
Well done! A real treat to watch the entire process.
Lee Miller is an incredible, articulate craftsman and artist.
This was the best. ❤
Well done, Kirby and Lee! A truly archival documentation of American history and culture. Beautiful boots to top it off! 👏👏
What a great 6 part documentary, I have been totaly hooked and loved watching each one. Mr Miller is a true craftsman and artist in boot making. I'd love to own a pair myself one day. Congratulations Kirby.
Kirby, an amazing series. Thanks so much for sharing this with everyone. Absolutely epic.
Finally. Covid slowed things down for everyone. These bespoke boots were hand built and were worth the wait. Wear them with pride, Kirby. Lee was ever a proud artisan.
Congratulations kirby! what a journey!
The greatest cowboy boot shop in all the world. It is all our own...right here in Texas.
I respect the dedication and time it took to make this. Incredible.
Sad to see the final episode...i have enjoyed this thoroughly ....watch them over multiple times.. Thank-you
I've been waiting a long time for the boots to be completed. Great videos. I'm kinda sorry it ended. Enjoy your boots brother!!!
This was the most interesting process to watch, the entire series is just one huge history lesson. Loved it. Thank you
Nice buckle. I actually have a Hughe's Tools buckle that my dad got back in the day. Oh yeah, Howard Hughes..
You could hear that "thunk" sound as his feet dropped in. That's a nice fit.
Starched Wranglers, clean shirt, gold buckle with a nice jacket, well done!! Those boots are amazing!
Only thing missing was the crease!
Wow! Those are beautiful. I have been wearing boots my whole life and always wondered what one would feel like especially made for my foot. Sure is something to be proud of.
man i loved your outfit at the end
This is a fantastic video. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
Well done, Mr. Allison!
The boots Lee is wearing are absolutely bad ass!
Everything about Lee is bad ass!!
@@kirbyallison these are the best videos you have made so far. Very much enjoyed this
What a journey. 5 years in the making, but it was worth the wait.
Amazing video series, I enjoyed the journey and amazed by the work Lee does.
Wow, well done ! Beautiful boots Kirby!
Just watched the whole series and WOW absolutely amazing the time and love he puts into his work!!! Hopefully will have a pair for myself in the future!
Congrats Kirby! Lookin’ sharp!
Wow, I sure enjoyed that series and the boots look fantastic. I can't believe it took half a decade from start to finish.
20:43 - he's still looking at the boots 😆
A truly wonderful series.
I waited one week for my Ariat’s to arrive. They fit great. If you have to wait 5 years for boots, you don’t need boots.
Bingo.
I wear my ropers everyday. You know this guy will NEVER, do anything close to physical work I. Those things. They’ll probably sit on a shelf. People like this guy, should NOT wear boots. Stick to loafers and boat shoes. Leave the boot wearing to real men.
I’m sure this isn’t his only pair of cowboy boots. The wait time was for the maker, which is the special part of these boots.
Its OK to let people enjoy what they want to enjoy. Isn’t that American freedom? Yet here you are deciding who needs and doesn’t need cowboy boots. Doesn’t sound very freedom loving of you.
It's funny to me how you say always, "I couldn't be more excited". I get it. It's a cliche, a personal way of speaking...fully respected.
But it's comical too. Like, how many things can you not be more excited about? You got to pick a winner, Kirbs! I say go with the boots and call it quits.
Looking good Kirby. Comfort is Everything because it increases the Value to u of what u r Wearing. Luv especially the Design Inlays. Thank u for sharing with us, Enjoy wearing them. Shoemaker Brilliance!
Those boots are amazing, the craftsmanship is superb. However, I don't have the time, 5 years to receive the final product, a lot can happen in that time. Six months, yes, five years, no.
I think the episode of the shoe manufacturer in Mallorca, Carmina is the way to go.
The way they hug your calf. Perfect.
Great boot Lee Miller !!! Congrats Kirby, wonderful look !!! Heirloom quality, absolutely gorgeous !!! A close-up would be nice.
this was a really great series to watch
I can't believe it finally happened lol awesome. Can't wait for a true review of how they fit.
You should have let us see more of you wearing the boots... I miss that part a lot...
Glad to see finally see the end result after 4 years!
I am genuinely jealous of the boots ( the first pop sounded perfect ) good choice on the outfit a more rugged edge to the gentleman .
Amazing series very educational. ☺
Incredible. Enjoy Kirby! Would love to see updates on the fit as you wear them over time! Obviously it needs some working in, so I’m curious how the fit improves. My only concern was, 5 years is a long time, don’t feet shapes change with weight change? I guess you gotta be cognizant about that…..A masterpiece series, thanks for sharing.
sweet . i have been waiting for this.
Awesome boots Kirby !!!
Best cloth for ragging is to use a ladies tights, leather comes up a treat. Put an old rag inside a pair of stocking or tights and rub away.
I’m going to go to Austin, Texas for Lee’s handmade boots and I’m staying there for good!
Congratulations on your pair of boots
As a South American I think cowboy boots are 100% north American staple of good quality craftsmanship
Great series!
Beautiful cowboy boots! They definitely look better with that outfit you were wearing then those dress shoes! Those boots will look amazing with all your suits!
Outstanding work, the only thing is the waiting time - it's around 2 to 3 years - I wish there were more workers with his training and supervision to service more customers, there's more custom boots makers but unfortunately they all have long waiting time .
Well now I’m curious on how much you like them Kirby.. so many important question not answered.
Are they comfortable?
Do they fit as good as you hoped?
Is the overall design to your liking?
Gotta tell us somthing we barely even saw them on your feet
Exceptionally comfortable. And I stand several inches taller with how proud I am to wear them (and because of how tall the iconic western heel stack is)!
Very impressive with the boots. That tweed jacket makes me envious that I don’t have something similar in my
Rotation.
Loved this whole video series! And...Kirby needs to get some bootcut jeans, lol.
Brilliant Kirby... You should hunt down Savannah Yarborough from AtelierSavas for handmade leather jackets from Nashville. As an Australian, I have two of her jackets now... Not only is she totally adorable but what she can do with leather jackets is stunning. Yeah... Now I want Lee Miller boots..!
Wow those boots are beautiful.
Lee made a Pair for me👍greetings from Germany
those handsome boots should last 100 years.the engineering , artistry is fabulous . these boots should 'loosen' you up a bit KA ~ JDS/CT
I love it im a die hard fan of cowboy boots.
Wow Mr Miller has talent.
I just researched lee miller. His boots start at 2900 dollars and there’s a 4 year waiting list. Wow
Must be cool to wear a pair of custom-made boots.
When I saw the first filming, I said you folks are top-notch. This is a great ' Docu-film-story ' and the audio is spot on.
The lighting was great and the camera work was wonderful. Editing is super good.
I'm glad you did not add a lot of background music into the filming and end edits.
You made Texas very proud !
What a great film series for people to enjoy for many generations.
I think it would be great for you to edit a super short edited filming version to push to your filming series. Perhaps 5 to 8 minutes long and I think you will get alot if views on that to use as a jump start to all the details in the series.
Applauds and you should get a honey masters degree in filming from your college or a college in Austin, Texas.
I'd be proud to hand you the degree and you will inspire filmmakers for many years onward.
Congratulations to everyone!
' He is not a craftsman - he is an engineer and science of feet management! '
Thank you
Michael
' Artist to Artist '
5 years… holy cow! My taste would change so much.
Now off to Texas Hatters in Lockhart.
Remember, unless you want to be a Rexall Ranger, pant always over the boot.
It was actually a disappointment I was unable to source a proper western cowboy hat in time for this piece!
Incredible..👍👏
That signature was the cherry on the top 🍒
It's amazing that the shoe industry can mass produce shoes that are tolerable to most people. I've never had shoes specifically made for my feet and can't imagine what that would feel like. Maybe some day I'll make that investment.
what a craftsman
Amazing boots! Kirby, be sure to check out ML Leddy in Fort Worth.
5 years! Wow
Kirby removes his George Cleverly Russia leather……😜….The coat is a delight; a British cavalry cut (hence the ‘un trendy’ modern longer coat cut)….quite charming…🇬🇧
