How to do this on a 95 Camaro? Its different than a screw to release the mounting bracket and it seems to not be a pin inside the bracket to release it but a really tough button.
I bought the glue recommendation given online here and I went to the OReilly auto part store near my home. Purchased the glue product, followed directions etc..the mirror fell off a few days later. I still can’t get it to stay on the glass. Can anyone recommend a product or any ideas as to how I can attach the same mirror or what type I can purchase that attaches to ceiling Or attaches in any other way ?
What do you recommend when someone [me] who should know better did everything right till the stage of putting the mounting button back on upside down I see another do it yourself video shows using heat to enable the mounting part to be got back off the window for another attempt however they use an old piece of already badly cracked windscreen from a wreck so they dont have to worry about a fubar I was thinking of using a cigarette lighter but if this method might cause damage to the whole screen please say so and suggest a "Plan B' Vehicle Mitsubishi Challenger 2003 model
Mine got "aggressively removed" and took some of the inner layer of windshield with it, a chunk the size of the mirror's clip. Would this method still work, or would it be recommended to completely replace the windshield first?
I came for this answer too because the guy at the store said to pop it off with a flat head screwdriver which seems like it would break your windshield. There’s a wiki how on it (for future people asking this question). Put a citron ball with acetone (fingernail polish remover) around the edges to soften the glue. Use fishing or piano wire to go under it and remove the button from the windshield. Then use a razor blade to remove residue.
In my case, I broke mine clean off and picked up the full set from autozone for 20 dollars and the mirror and metal are included, hope this was helpful!
I was driving today and I hit a bump or a dip on the freeway and the damn rear view mirror falls off. Came off clean too, no trace of old adhesive on the glass.
If ANYONE finds a product that holds longer than 2weeks, please post or send to me. I am about to purchase the Huge rear view mirror “as seen on TV” because it has a different attaching unit, no glue required and the weight of the mirror is most important, it’s much less weight enabling it to hold longer.
Do you recommend getting a windshield replaced? It has a crack running down the center of it vs. mounting the rearview mirror in another location? I mean not in the same exact location as the original, but not too far away from it. A tiny hole appeared where it was originally mounted. A crack appeared the next morning after I had my radiator replaced. Slowly it crept upward and eventually, the rearview mirror fell down. My first attempt to DIY didn't last, so I am gonna youtube how to do it. Help, CHRIS
Your radiator mechanic probably left a tool on top of the firewall, when he closed the hood it damaged the windshield. If you look where the crack started you will see this
@@mountainjustice the crack appeared the next morning after the repair, and i haven't replaced the windshield, the crack doesn't impede my vision of the road, and it hasn't spread.
hey great video, I hope you can help me with a problem i have, I want to install a endlessmirror light up rear view mirror in my Peugeot 306 2.0 HDI 1999 (EUDM Car) it has a housing for the Rain sensor tho, the rear view mirror is held by the housing with a ball and I wanted to know if I can pull the mirror away from the housing without damaging it since there is a dimming mechanism and I dont really know if i can break it by trying to pull it of that holding ball
They showed you this one being removed by unscrewing a lock screw. It's likely to be the exact same thing as if the mirror is still attached to the windshield. If it's still attached to the windshield, loosen the screw and slide the mirror up. You should have been able to infer that with even the slightest amount of common sense. If your mirror doesn't have a screw, then you need to communicate your make and model so others might be able to answer accordingly.

BS, this method does Not work. Don’t you sell a Replacement mirror that attaches different ? Anything better than Glue or drilling into my glass ? I bought that higher recommended glue same little cleaner towelette etc… waited over 24 hours Plus put duct tape under tab mirror holder for extra support to make sure all seemed strong…NOPE, didn’t work, every time I touch to adjust, it falls off. I have done the re-glue 3 times, cleaning and paying detailed attention Nothing works.

What if the metal part is stuck on your windshield
what Rearview Mirror Adhesive you recommend, the link in the post and in the description do not work any more
There should be a video on how to take that metal “mounting button” off especially a stubborn one

I guess they assume if your mirror comes with pin clips you just automatically know how to detach it. Video could have used a bit more detail.
🤣😂😅

Hello??
Same here, the mirror just fall off with a layer of glass. Citröen C3
I broke mirror from lil ball thing?
Can silicon work here?
What do you do if the mirror breaks off but the metal piece is still on the window?
Rearview mirrors have standard metal buttons for make and model, so just order a replacement that will mount to button.

How do you take old one off
Hey mate,
how did you de-attach the mounting button from the window?
U ever figure it out lol?????

Thanks so much only video showing how to reattach the mirror to the mounting bracket
But not all mirrors have that screw to help take the metal out 🙄🤷
Mine is stuck in a very shitty clip
Do what I did... take it to advance auto and have them take it out, or us a screw driver
Might have to use a small screwdriver.
What is that lock type lever below mirror ?
What I need to know is how do you take the button off of the mirror. Is a clip in there instead of a set screw!?!!?
There's usually a hole you can stick a small flat-head screwdriver to pry the metal button and slide it out. Some have a small grub screw.
What if the glass broke where the mount was before? Can you put it next to it?
Yes. The shop I talked to said it had to be attached to a flat surface next to old spot.
What kind of tool did u use to unscrew the small screw
Screw driver with whatever screw tip required on your vehicle. Mine was a torx screw.
Beautiful. Just what I needed to know. Thank you!!
Are you Australian because I read that with an Australian accent.... lol
the piece of metal attached to the mirror is stuck, what do I do?
He said to glue another on top of it, if you try removing it you risk shattering your glass

mmm....seems to be a gap. How do you get the old "button off"?
Where I can buy same mirror?

Yea tried that and it didn’t work. Went to adjust the mirror and it all came off. Tried numerous adhesives as well

So its summer am I meant to just wait a few months until I put my rear view mirror on?
😹
My side mirror casing popped off didn't break need to connect it back. Wires didn't come loose
Does O'Reilly offer to glue it on for a reasonable price? @O'Reilly Auto Parts

I did not prep the surface... fairly important step that one.
Why on Earth would I want to remove and replace the mount on the glass?
All I want to do is replace the frigging mirror using the existing mount.
