They brought back a lot of Pokémon that’s hard to tell the difference between the normal and shiny. I wish they kept the mechanic from arceus where they sparkle and make a noise, not only to help veterans but to help the kids who aren’t sure what to look for.
Same. Even if they didn't have the noise, just a visual sparkle on the overworld model would be nice. I got a shiny gulpin yesterday, but I honestly thought it was normal and just looked blue because it was in a shadow
As a pokemon rookie I agree. I accidentally killed one because I was told to look for a sparkling Pokemon...only to be told it's different in Violet. Got me a shiny Mareep so there's that. Overall I think I'm hooked on Pokemon.
Honestly I'd love at least the sparkle to return since some Pokemon are now really tiny like Amoongus or Diglett for instance so even if it is shiny you can't see the difference cause the damn thing is so small lol.
@@lornadune2506 I would love to have the sparkles back, not only because of that, but also because of pokemon whose over world sprits are TINY Was shiny hunting dreepy, but gave up, because they are too tiny to actually see the difference without checking each one from close up
I’ll be honest, I would much rather prefer a Pokémon that has a god awful shiny color that’s actually distinctive than the original than have one that looks virtually the same. Garchomp and Gengar are the most notable with these problems
You’re right. I was really disappointed that the shiny variant for Ceruledge was just red eyes, but I decided to get a shiny Charcadet regardless of that. I mean, a different eye color is at least better than the whole Pokémon changing to a slightly different shade of color, making no difference to the original.
I feel they should just retcon Gengar and Garchomp to have their legendary shiny colourations. Maushold should have grey and Paldean Tauros should have normal Tauros colouration. I swore Persian had a bigger difference in previous generations.
Is it just me or did some of those "shinies" just look like how they did in the older sprite games? Cuz the originals' colors were looking flat here. Lol..
I almost missed a shiny deerling because I didn’t notice it until I started battling another Pokémon!! I also almost swam right passed a shiny finizen!!
I REALLY hope they add the shiny sound in the overworld. A lot of the shinies barely change, and every night I’ve been so paranoid about potentially missing a shiny. Speaking of that, I found a shiny Revaroom, but when I got near it, it Despawned! Why do shiny Pokemon despawn?! 😭😭😭
I think I saw that if you send out your Pokemon in that Let's Go mode, they will refuse to kill the shiny, so I usually end up using that mode if I'm hunting for one in an Outbreak.
A few of these Pokémon would be impossible to tell if they are shiny when you see them in the wild. They should have a sparkle overworld like they did in legends Arceus
Keep in mind that since Gen. 6, Game freak (or at least someone there) is handpicking the colors. They voluntarily decided to make them as impossible to differentiate from normal pokemon in the wild
For real. I flew over a river and saw the evo of arrokuda. I was hesitating for a moment to actually go down to catch it or not. It wasn't in my dex yet. In the end I decided sure, and went to catch it. Then it suddenly sparkled in battle and was apparently shiny. The fact that I almost ignored it and only went cuz it wasn't in my dex yet...
tbh gengar's shiny was better when pokemon was still 2d, the colors got less vibrant when it came to 3d which made the shiny look too similar to normal gengar
They REALLY need to bring the overworld shiny sparkle and sound queue back. Some of these Pokemon are so tiny now that it's impossible to tell if they're shiny or not. I don't know how anyone could spot a shiny Tandemous or Maushold.
@@RM.-_-. I have to disagree. There's definitely a point to the overworld sparkle and flash alerts for shinies. Many shinies (like Slowpoke, Tandemaus, Garchomp, just to name a few) are barely distinguishable from their non shiny counterparts. Also due to new scaling, many Pokemon are now so tiny that it's an absolute pain trying to check them for shiny colors. Not to mention a lot of people suffer from varying degrees of visual problems or color blindness that may make seeing shinies difficult for them.
@@BoshiYoshi thank you for mentioning visual problems, honestly shocked GameFreak didn’t think about the fact there are people who need cues other than colour to spot Shiny Pokémon, not everyone has perfect colour vision
A couple things I noticed: 1) They made Garchomp and Gengar's shinies black now. It's still not the most noticeable since the original colors were still dark, but it's something at least. 2) Magneton was swapped in the video :)
you mean the robo beep and boop sound? it should say pikachu... ya know really all of them outa sound right... but seeing how they wont do voice acting and i imagine its just easier and well they have that reputation for taking those routs. But each their own.
@@vampr20ranger conpared to every other pokemon in game, pikachu is the only one that says their name, idk about you but that was always a huge bother to me
Gholdengo’s only difference is that the little indents are silver and not bronze. The mouse mon’s original apparently is just a little bluer and the shiny takes that away.
Mouse Mon one has a shirt and one has trousers, and the normal clothes are a very light blue and the shiny are very light beige. But it's definitely easier to see if your pokemon will Auto battle Mousehold or not. Thanks for pointing out the difference in the golden string cheese mons, I couldn't for the life of my figure it out and thought they were trolling us with that one.
I’m extremely disappointed about armorouge and ceruedges shinies, they are some of my favorite gen 9 Pokémon and literally all that changed for the shiny was their eye color..
We gotta love how the Pokémon are in their actual scaling where they can bigger or smaller than you. Makes you feel like they can be real life animals…that are actually tamed and not wild. XD Anyways, I do think the Dusk Lycanroc shiny looks beautiful to me. I also adore Shiny Espeon it looks like a gemstone because of the green, I always named her Emerald.
@@Wolfgirl1997 I named mine Big Challah because I knew he was destined for greatness. He carried my team through my nuzlocke as the sole survivng member of the original party. I found out that, ironically enough, he's perfectly average sized.
@@nightfuryxlol9180 i agree, they are extremely small and no where near a real world reputation! A 10 year old is like 4ft tall and some of these pokemon seem to be inches tall.
This video brought forth the unfortunate reality that the Tauros that I thought looked a little muted was, in fact, not because of the rain and was, in fact, a Shiny. 😭
@@RM.-_-. Thank you, I knew that at the time I just didn't want to bother sending out a mon because Tauros is a pain to deal with since they charge at you in groups. 😭
This video made me realize just how many shinies I could have not realized were shiny while staring directly at them. Definitely going to rely more on autobattles than movement to respawn pokemon when hunting some of these.
Ok the upped vibrancy snd details really make these shinies look far better than some of their counterparts than they previously did. E.g: Gengar being almost black now and Forretress looking golden, the detail of Toller going from rolling mud to a big nugget is impressive.
@@budgieinahoodie5661 The Let's Go feature barely works for me. Most of the time my Pokémon doesn't attack others on its own and while riding Koraidon it's useless in general.
@@budgieinahoodie5661 If you’re not using the Lets Go feature everywhere you go in the game and actively hunting for it though, it can be really easy to miss- which is what I think they meant. I’ve caught 2 shinies purely by walking around and happening to see a different colored Pokemon by coincidence, but I wouldn’t even stop to notice a small pokemon like Pichu with barely any color variation and expect it to be shiny unless I specifically were looking for shinies and using that feature lol
I used to be way into shiny hunting and I'm glad I've never failed one. Legends Arceus made me weary of losing my streak but at least they made a noise when they appeared and the de-spawn range was huge. This game doesn't let you know when one appears and the range at which they'll de-spawn is pretty small. It also doesn't help that some tiny pokemon like tadbulb are 3 pixels big and barely change. I can't run through any wild areas without checking every spawn because of the fear that I'll run past a shiny without knowing it. As far as I know (I haven't found one yet), the only foolproof way of shiny checking if you're unsure is to auto battle it. Your partner cant fight a shiny in an auto battle. SAVE YOUR GAME WHEN YOU SEE A SHINY! If you save with one on screen, it'll be there if it dies, runs or the game resets. If you take my advice and it turns out that I was wrong about the auto battle thing, I don't want anyone to call me the reason they failed one Edit: I have now found 3 shinys (glimmet, snover and scyther). Glimmet was found in a mass outbreak (knew self-destruct), snover randomly in a small group (slight yet noticable change if you're looking for it) and scyther by the fighting type team star leader (seen for 1/2 a second and almost lost due to a cutscene). What I've learned so far is to take your time. Move slowly through spawn areas and be observant because it takes a few seconds for Pokemon to load in. If I didn't do any double takes or take precautions like saving, I probably would've lost all 3. If you're really scared of missing a shiny, these are my best pointers: • study what every shiny looks like compared to the original, there are several videos about it on RUclips • don't boost on your ride Pokemon, they move faster than most wild Pokemon can spawn in • check the whole area before moving forward • if at any point you're unsure if something is shiny, save your game before you either auto battle check or encounter • some know moves such as self destruct which can faint themselves so either use a Pokemon with the ability "damp," use moves like "sleep powder" or pray to the RNG Gods that your quickball game is tight
Shiny hunting is overall just boring in gen 8, and doesn't feel rewarding at all. During my Scarlet playthrough i found like 10 random shinies, and my reactions to finding them were nothing more than raised eyebrows and maybe small gasps. Finding shinies is just not as exciting as it was before. They're way, WAY too common to find now, even without any methods. At this point i honestly just wish Gamefreak reverted to 1/8192 chances, so shinies could again be at least somewhat rare. This or at least they should let us soft reset for stationary encounters like starters and legendaries again... it's just stupid that they make shiny legendaries shiny locked just to give them away for free in mystery gifts 2 years after the games release. What's even the point?
@@TornaitSuperBird oh thank god, some other pokemons just became a bit lifeless, I know its an ongoing thing but its unusual that the pokemons in gen 7 and 8 to lose their touch
@@ethanmatthewapostol881 Yeah, I noticed a lot of Pokémon here seem to be completely stiff and lifeless, even if they weren't in previous games. It's an odd choice really. A lot of the move animations lost a lot of their charm too. It's unfortunate.
@@ethanmatthewapostol881 I can understand why you’d feel that way about Oricorio because I also loved the lively dances of all its formes. But truth be told, they actually they updated the sprites for a lot of Pokémon in this Gen that honestly make them look better than they did when they first transitioned to 3D in Gen. 6. Scyther and Tropius now stand on the ground instead of flying in midair. The Eeveelutions and Lucario now stand in more battle-ready positions. And while it isn’t shown here, but the Cyndaquil now appear in battle with their flames up all the time and not just when they attack (I personally never had a problem with it, but I know it was something that pissed people off).
gotta admit the lechonk line’s shiny was a smart move EDIT: speaking of pink, they had a missed opportunity to turn the nacli line’s shinies into pink salt EDIT 2: You accidentally switched the magneton and shiny’s places
Omg, I just realized the difference of gholdengo, if you look EXTREMELY CLOSELY (you might as well be looking at them through the worlds strongest microscope) the little indents they have are what changes, normal is brown, while shiny is silver
Funnily enough, my friend the other day was looking to make a Pokémon OC and asked "Should I pick the Scarlet one, or the Violet one?" I was confused until they showed me the picture of the normal and shiny of Sprigatito... makes sense now that they point it out though
The new texturing style does compliment some of the previously bad shinies. Like Gengar does a lot more noticeable than other games at least, although you might still need a side by side. Heck, some with changes like Weavile taking a slightly less unintimidating color. But there’s some like Vigoroth or the Magnemite line that did not transition well.
So many cool possibilities for armarouge and ceruledge's shinies, yet they decided to change a bit just the eyes and literally nothing else, i feel sad
The shiny starters are a big letdown. Change a few colors on Sprigatito line, make Skeledirge pink, and Quaxly line just ends up looking like it's colors got washed out.
I think it's awesome that not only does Oinkologne have an awesome shiny version (fight me lol), it has different sounds between it's male and female sprites.
Honestly, the texture glow-ups help with what were not great shinies: just look at our boi Scizor! The chrome looks great in both red and green! Same to Foretress, it’s a golden boi now!
Also, shout out to Espathra, one of my personal favs for this gen’s shinies. I dunno, I kinda like the brown/green look more than its orange counterpart, I also caught one earlier today :)
I'm just saying, everybody brings up Garchomp and Gengar when Regice is a thing, and somehow Gholdengo managed to be even worse than that, which I just cant believe how that was possible
Sprigatito line. Quackly and it's Final Evolution. Fuecoco and Crocolor Gholdengo line. All Shiny Future Pokemon shouldn't all be chrome. Gen 9 Pseudo Legendary. Shiny Yellow Tatsuchi(can be mistaken for the regular Orange)
@@Nosretep sprigatito line looks good. It very obviously makes the body less vibrant and makes its accents purple rather than pink. If you can't tell the difference then yikes. It looks nice. Doesn't have to be flashy to be nice.
@@projectpatientanarchy7550 🤷🏽♂️ they clearly are not the same. Idk what you’re looking at lol I’m not saying two different forms. I’m saying the old kanto model was updated to look more slender. Persian wasn’t the only one. A handful of returning Pokémon had their models altered.
This does not change the fact that in Australia there are 48 million kangaroos and in Uruguay there are 3,457,380 inhabitants. So if the kangaroos decide to invade Uruguay, each Uruguayan will have to fight 14 kangaroos
I absolutely love most of the new shinies, even the ones that are similar to their originals, though I wish they’d done more drastic changes with the starters. The problem I have with so many similar shinies new and old is that they removed the overworld shine particles that they’ve had in every overwold shiny game so far (which is only 2 but still) and they removed the overworld shiny sound from PLA (which I’m not as sad about since LGPE didn’t have it at all, but yeah). People are talking about finding 4 full odds shinies in a day in my server and I haven’t seen a single one and just feel like I’ve missed all of them…
I did want to point out that while LGPE didnt have a sound, they had the stars sparkling around them like the large and small auras. SV doesnt have anything at all but the different colors, which as everyone has said sucks royally
I found 3 full odds shinies in my first 4 days but guess what, THEY ALL SPAWNED BEHIND ME and I just happened to turn around or was in a dead end. So now I always circle around an area once before I leave it.
I find it funny that they CLEARLY made effort to slightly fix some of the old shinies that were impossible to tell apart, like Gengar and Garchomp, but THEN they added even more shinies in gen 9 that were EVEN HARDER to notice.... especially the Tandemaus line. For real, good luck finding shiny Tandemaus without running into them or using Let's go mode, ESPECIALLY considering how tiny they are.
Gholdengo takes the cake for the new hardest shiny to tell the difference. I literally had to look up what it was, and it’s that the tiny lines of detail on him are gray instead of dark yellow.
Gotta study the video to know when you see a shiny! I can’t believe they didn’t put in a shiny sound like in Arceus, it makes my shiny hunting 100% more stressful because I think I’ve missed one.
If you're unsure that you've found a shiny, just let your pokemon attack it out of battle. I know this sounds like a trick, but your Pokémon will not KO it if it's a shiny.
@@plagueshade1553 oooh I didn’t know that, thanks for the tip! Still is a pain to get off and on the bike though. I’ve questioned myself so many times on Slowpokes and Phanphys, at least this will make it a little bit easier!

I feel bad for vision imparied people and those that are colour blind :/ I hope they bring a sparkle back or something more notable than the state of overworld shiny encounters at the moment.
“Okay, how do you want to change?” Some shinies: I want a completely new colour pallet! Other shinies: I want to stay mainly the same, but with some difference! Some jerkwads: I want to hardly change! Tandemous: wait we’re meant to change?
They need to add a shiny sparkle and sound, I’m constantly paranoid that I’m going to miss a shiny because they are either barely distinguishable or I’m not familiar enough with the regular Pokémon to begin with.
Amazing comparison vid, thank you! Nice to see the models side-by-side like this. Some of these shinies are pure nightmares when roaming. Igglybuff you can't even tell which is which. I guess it's f you if you're color blind. I wouldn't be surprised if I encountered some of these shinies and missed them. I hope whenever they update the game they add a way to tell if a pokemon is shiny outside of battle like that used to with a sparkle or something. Maybe an announcement.
I think that most of the Hisui Evolutions are being added in the DLC. We know the Variants will be added in during the HOME Patch & Integration in Spring 2023, along with the ability to Catch & Transfer in Roaming Gimmighoul from GO, so it's just a matter of a few months.
We also know the Past and Future "Legendaries" are slated for the DLC. The area is the inaccessible chunk in the North-East corner above the Icy area. Plus, there aren't any Fossils, no Mythical, no 3rd Legend... *It seems that'll be expanded in a 4th Story during the DLC.* PLUS, we'll hopefully get a solid Dex order confirmation by then, because RN, there's no actual Dex Order, and Bulbapedia screwed up lol. I think it'd be neat if they had Overworld Fossil mon like in the Crown Tundra.
Recently successfully shiny-hunted a Charcadet. Gotta say, loved having to stop and stare each one in the eyes to see if it was shiny or not. I guess that's still better than the likes of Gengar and Garchomp though...
As a colour-blind person I've got to be content with the fact these are all so tonally similar that I will likely never notice when there is a shiny right in front of me :')
thank you so much, i want to challenge myself with using a pink and white colour scheme for my shiny only team and this was just what i needed to plan it!
I am really not one to complain about this game; I have absolutely loved every second of it, glitches and all. _However_ I find it particularly cruel that there is no overworld indicator in a game that has so many Pokémon with shinies that are nearly identical to their original forms. I have probably overlooked some just because it's very hard to spot the difference, especially in tiny Pokémon like tatsugiri and sinistea.
This was a nightmare to record and edit but I am happy with how it turned out.
What do you want so see next? : )

A few of these Pokémon would be impossible to tell if they are shiny when you see them in the wild. They should have a sparkle overworld like they did in legends Arceus

You could really see a difference for those shines like gengar and garchomp
I daresay they have the best shinies of all time
I would say that the most different shiny was gholdengo! Best shiny ever!!!!1!1!11!!
tbh gengar's shiny was better when pokemon was still 2d, the colors got less vibrant when it came to 3d which made the shiny look too similar to normal gengar
idk, they werent as unique as tandemaus and maushold's
Gengar’s Shiny is now a light black it’s nice
Thank you for actually including ALL of the Pokémon! So many people are focusing on the brand new mons, but this is a very helpful resource
Looks like some got updated colors. I think Bergmite Pee yellow got absorbed by Dodonzo
I love how some of the steel types have reflectiveness, foretress looks the best that way. I'm in love with the shiny revamps too(Gengar and garchomp)
I failed a shiny foretress yesterday (saved a bit too far from the model) and yeah, it looked amazing 😢
They REALLY need to bring the overworld shiny sparkle and sound queue back. Some of these Pokemon are so tiny now that it's impossible to tell if they're shiny or not. I don't know how anyone could spot a shiny Tandemous or Maushold.
I caught 56 shines today with charm and sandwich you don't need sparkling shit the rates too low you run into so many no real point no more

Thanks for pointing out the difference in the golden string cheese mons, I couldn't for the life of my figure it out and thought they were trolling us with that one.
They really dropped the ball with the anihhlape shiny and the entire ceruledge line that could've been epic

Pleased with the olive Pokemon line, was afraid they weren't going to do the black olive thing lol
Ok the upped vibrancy snd details really make these shinies look far better than some of their counterparts than they previously did. E.g: Gengar being almost black now and Forretress looking golden, the detail of Toller going from rolling mud to a big nugget is impressive.
I don't think anyone can notice a shiny Pichu in the wild unless they accidentally run into it😅
Or by using the Let’s Go feature?? It’s pretty easy to notice a shiny when your Pokémon just outright refuses to attack it.
@@budgieinahoodie5661 ok, thank god the lets go feature does not attack shiny pokemon

@@budgieinahoodie5661 If you’re not using the Lets Go feature everywhere you go in the game and actively hunting for it though, it can be really easy to miss- which is what I think they meant. ive never been a big fan of green shinies, but the flapple line's shiny colors being green makes me so so happy
Makes sense too considering Granny Smith apples.
noibat has a nice green... i dont like noiverns green
Some green shinies are rly nice while others are just bad. It depends on the shade of green.
If you take my advice and it turns out that I was wrong about the auto battle thing, I don't want anyone to call me the reason they failed one
Edit: I have now found 3 shinys (glimmet, snover and scyther). If you're really scared of missing a shiny, these are my best pointers:
• study what every shiny looks like compared to the original, there are several videos about it on RUclips
• don't boost on your ride Pokemon, they move faster than most wild Pokemon can spawn in
• check the whole area before moving forward
• if at any point you're unsure if something is shiny, save your game before you either auto battle check or encounter
• some know moves such as self destruct which can faint themselves so either use a Pokemon with the ability "damp," use moves like "sleep powder" or pray to the RNG Gods that your quickball game is tight
youre correct! auto battle does not work on shinies
I've definitely seen some of these in game and had no idea they were shiny
I hate the fact that the Oricorios no longer have their fun and lively dances, now they just sit there miserably

6:30 : Dang that a beautiful shiny !
“Okay, how do you want to change?”
Some shinies: I want a completely new colour pallet!
Other shinies: I want to stay mainly the same, but with some difference!
Some jerkwads: I want to hardly change!
Tandemous: wait we’re meant to change?
Man, seeing how close a lot of these are makes me wonder how many shinies I drove right by 😅
I love how skeldirge's cry is literally a truck horn.
Oh man, love duomouse and mousehold shinies! Such a daring change up!
And now here I sit wondering how many of the barely noticeable shinies I passed ;_;
Kinda wish the future pokemon had more changes in their shiny forms
They do they left the factory unpainted it's kinda funny and looks good
I like how smoliv is a green olive then turns to a black olive, cuteeeeee
They need to add a shiny sparkle and sound, I’m constantly paranoid that I’m going to miss a shiny because they are either barely distinguishable or I’m not familiar enough with the regular Pokémon to begin with.
I caught 56 shines to day and I'm sure I passed some up not worried rates too low shiny hunting pointless
*It seems that'll be expanded in a 4th Story during the DLC.*
PLUS, we'll hopefully get a solid Dex order confirmation by then, because RN, there's no actual Dex Order, and Bulbapedia screwed up lol.
I think it'd be neat if they had Overworld Fossil mon like in the Crown Tundra.
I can see why this would be an absolute nightmare to record but the result is worth it. This video has been very helpful
I didn't realize it until now but the first Charcadet I caught was Shiny! Because she's a beautiful bright eyed Ceruledge
Good luck finding a shiny Tandemous
At this point dont even bother making a shiny version of a pokemon if you are just gonna reduce its contrast cmon gamefreak
Hot take: Sprigatito line shiny is underrated. Its subtle, but nice, and you are able to tell. The green with the purple go nice together imo.
These kind of shinies are awful, that's why it's underrated. They can change entire fur colors, yet they change the eyes
Yeah… the eyes aren’t what face you in the battles.
If they turned the fur into a darker olive color, I’d be on your side.
I love shiny Magikarp, the reflective gold makes it look so beautiful 😍
I never noticed that all the eeveelution use the same notes in their cries as regular eevee but slightly different. That’s cool
We ain’t talking about the corvinight shiny? That shiz bussin.
I caught 56 shines just today the indicator would piss me off going off so much
@@RM.-_-. How tf?
