Hey Mark. Quite a lot of fun, as always. I love that one can look through the crane's nostrils and see the sky on the other side. Sorta like looking through my ears!
Love these small birds...all so beautiful and so very different - from the blue-grey gnatcatcher to the male painted bunting...WOW! But yes, it is hard not to gawk at the sandhill crane photos you took, especially that close up of the eye with spokes. SO COOL!!!!
I love the fact that you give your camera settings and context to each photo. Very cool! Looking to upgrade my D800 to a D850 and these shots are making a good case for an upgrade.
Great video! Always love your narration and images. The mystery bird is an American Goldfinch transitioning from winter plumage. The second Pine Warbler is an Orange-crowned Warbler. Great images!
The first mystery bird is a winter plumage American Goldfinch and the Pine Warbler right after it is actually an Orange-crowned Warbler! The flycatcher looks like a Great-crested Flycatcher based on how yellow the belly is. I love the Sandhill Crane photos!
Thanks! You are the second person to ID that as a Goldfinch. I think you are both right. For the Golden Puff ball, is that the Orange-Crowned Warbler? Thanks for the info!
Hi Mark, I absolutely love your videos! I am a beginner photographer and I learn a lot from you. I believe the flycatcher is a Great-Crested Flycatcher. The yellow in the breast is really bright compared to the other possible birds. Also it is the most likely bird of all. Hope this helps and thank you for all of your awesome content!
Amazing work. With the exception of the Swallows pictured, I do not believe I have ever seen pictures of any of the species you show us here. A real privilege it was too. The duration of your film. felt like may be three minutes, not 13. I cannot thank you enough. Simply fantastic stuff.
Mark you have an eye and the gift and sense of timing. There are people living in Florida and may also own both D500 and D850. But to use them the way you are doing is awesome. Loving your videos.
"2019, D890 allows you to see the soul of the bird." The intense detail is almost intimidating. I'd love a D850 but I'm pretty certain I'm not advanced enough to either utilize it to full capacity or be able to control that high of resolution. It's an amazing camera and your shots are incredible. Nice work.
I use a manfrotto heavy duty lens support for when I use a tripod and a manfrotto carbon fiber tripod. I shoot handheld 98% of the time. Any slow motion video was shot handheld. The walking shots are with a cell phone on a gimbal. Anything that has a wide angle look to it was shot on the phone. The intro with the Heron was the only shot on the tripod.
I love the pictures and the descriptions of the wildlife. The otters were awesome and the birds were fantastic - particularly the Herrings. The detail provided at 500mm is amazing with good light (the long walk was worth it) and that d850. You also must be a "bird whisperer" as no bird would ever let me get a close as you can. Thanks for the video!
Otters are some of my favorite animals, so I loved your shots of the otters. And I once tried to get some swallow shots, but got nothin', so I really liked those as well. Keep making videos and I will keep watching them.
Your videos are inspirational and makes me just go through the screen and see what is going on in the animal world. From otters to amazing birds thank you so much for sharing.
Awesome video Mark.... Totally absorbed fro beginning to end...... Fabulous photography and beautiful wildlife..... Love the commentary..... Thumbs up from me.....
Amazing pictures Mark. I love the energy your bring and story you tell. A bit off topic, but how has your experience been with using FX lenses on the D500? Any loss in resolution? Thanks and keep up the great work!
Awesome great coverage,My eyes are on buying 850 Nikon,I love your work! I do my best to share your videos, they are a show of real contrast and amazement!
Thanks! Great video! I have the D800e, D5s and D500. It seems the D500 gets a lot more use with my Nikon 200-500 with ext 1.4. What is the name of the area where you shot your video?
Great video Mark with excellent narration. You're getting good at this guy and in the not too distant future I think you're going to be one of the top names in the bird/wildlife photography biz. Stick with Nikon and you may even get to be one of their ambassadors.
Always fun watching your videos Mark. I always come away knowing more about birds than I did when I started. Thanks for your time and devotion. Keep up the great work ! All the best. Gil from Largo, FL aka SemperFiGuy
@@MarkSmithphotography my husband and I visit Vero every year. We took some fantastic shots at Sabastian Inlet and Pelican Island. Where is this location exactly? Your photos are beautiful!
Man, I finally got my D850 and love it! I was going to sell my D500 but that autofocus seems unmatched! I’m still learning with the 850 and I’m sure it’s mostly user error but I think I’m keeping the old crop sensor beast. As usual videos are entertaining and educational. 👌🏽
4:02, is a Palm Warbler . The next bird that you referred to as the mystery bird of the day is an American Goldfinch. Beautiful job Oh and 12:14 It is a Great crested Flycatcher!
Love your videos... especially the enthusiastic narration. Good imagery and post processing too. Oh yeah... and birds ARE Dinosaurs! Keep up the GREAT work!
Great Crested Flycatcher ... That's the guy from my backyard here in Virginia. I thought he was vacationing in Florida. - Great Shots and wonderful detail with the 850.
Love your videos! I'm torn between the D850 and D500...I'm a beginner to intermediate photographer but will have only one camera. Which would you recommend between the two? Thank you!
As a beginner I would suggest the d500. The lower resolution makes it easier to get better results. The d850 isn't hard to use but it can put your skills as a photographer to the test. With the d850 ,you almost have both cameras but the d850 costs more to get it up to speed. You need the bigger battery, grip and charger and it is still just a little slower than the d500.
@@MarkSmithphotography Thanks, Mark! Really appreciate the quick response. As far as cameras that are great for shooting wildlife, are there any others that you'd recommend checking out or do you think the d500 is it even today?
Another great video Mark combining two of my passions, wildlife and photography. I just wish that I lived in the kind of place where you do these videos. The light is sumptuous. And the photos you've taken are just so good. Those Nikons rock (says confirmed Sony user). Well done!
Another “frustrating” video of perfect birds photography... The frustrating thing about your videos is that there is no money left in the bank for the D850.. Excellent as usual mate!!!
That closeup of the Crane’s eye is simply incredible!
Hey Mark. Quite a lot of fun, as always. I love that one can look through the crane's nostrils and see the sky on the other side. Sorta like looking through my ears!
Other bird species are like that. If you look at a turkey vulture from the side, you can see out of the other nostril.
mind blowing detail in your shots Mark, your videos are narrated so well it makes them a joy to watch. thanks so much for sharing “Fantastic”👍👍
This is by far the best photography channel on RUclips... this is why we take photos!
+Roman Canas That is very nice of you to say. Thank you.
Mark Smith I enjoy your videos, thank you!
Lil birds are such gems when you can get em photographed! Living vicariously thru your shots!
I agree! I really like trying to capture those little birds.
Great images - More please...
Congratulations for your job. The success of the internet is mostly because the guys like you

The amount of detail and sharpness in the shots is mind-blowing. Also the narration was amazing. Thanks!

The D850 is an awesome machine. You will love it. Thanks for watching!
Great video! Always love your narration and images. The mystery bird is an American Goldfinch transitioning from winter plumage. The second Pine Warbler is an Orange-crowned Warbler. Great images!
Yip I can see myself reaching for D850 when one is able to fill the frame with the bird. What brilliant images. So well done, Mark!
Thanks so much. The D850 is a great camera with lots of power!
I love birds and bird watching, but I have no equipment. So I really enjoy your videos and the opportunity to see them up close and personal! 👍🏼
Fabulous shots and what a Great Eye, beyond your Lenses!! Incredible

Yep! The golden puff ball is the Orange-crowned Warbler.
Funny we have exactly such a bird and all year round in such a plumage en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_greenfinch we call simply "greenfinch" :)
d850 pics are stunning

Thanks so much! Those swallows were very challenging indeed. There was a lot of luck at play with those.
