Well worth thinking about in a sticky situation how you can improvise your situation and be more comfortable when you are In a pinch. Good video thank you,
Awesome idea. I have both complete sets and it never crossed my mind to combine the halfs together. Super great video as i enjoy every one you produce. Great job. 👍😎👍
GREAT new intro man! Your movie maker skills are improving. Had to laugh... I totally know what you mean about the awesomeness of the "buttons lining up"😂 Or a cool jar that fits another... that sh*t rocks!!
Another interesting video , I personally use two polish poncho's but I see the mixing and matching works quite well . Great videos mate , well done again .
Oh hey I forgot to say. You can use the USGI as a poncho like garment too. One triangle becomes the hood, the main rectangle can wrap around and button up the front like a coat, and the triangle hanging down can be pulled up between the legs and tucked up under and folded over the front of your belt. Or rig up a toggle like on the plash palaka.. probably nothing you wanna wear to town, but it works and is warm.
That's great Jess, I have the USGI pup tent also. Great idea of combining them. I've been searching for ways to improve the GI shelter half setup. Thanks!
Perfect timing , you uploaded about the time I was finishing up prepping meat for storage. A little brush will take care of that draft . I’m a fan of the lavvu after watching the fellow in Sweden over the years 🙂Hope you and the family are doing well. Stack it high and deep . Have a great evening
Lovely woodland that mate . Another interesting experiment . I have the German pup tent and a repro laavu. Got both halves of them . But thats handy if you haven't. Maybe also more flexible. Take care bud 👍🏕
Thanks my friend. It is really beautiful here. Fall is at its peak at the moment. The German pup tent looks quite nice. Bushcraft Buddy did a really solid video with it setting up a military style camp. Have a good one! 🤝
@@EnduranceRoom Thank you. Yep I've watched a few of his vids . They're good fall kicking in here now to. Beautiful colours. Hopefully get out with the canvas sometime soon . Avvb 👌🏕🌄
It’s insane what they want for a US Shelter-half set these days. I’ve seen them for nearly $200, IF you can find one. And they suck, they always sucked. Better than nothing but you put you and your buddy in one and there’s NO room. Weigh a ton. The polish one is much nicer and more versatile. Also becoming nearly extinct and very expensive. Nice video!
@J J Wow, indeed they do have brand new ones, IN THE BOX! With the stakes and poles! FOR $130!!! 😆 And you need two of them! That’s a lot of money for a heavy kinda suck-ass tent! We used them in Basic Training for two weeks, never used again. That’s a good site though, I’ll have to check them out. Thanks!
That's awesome! I finally scored a complete USGI shelter half from Facebook Marketplace for $50. It's in very good condition with the exception of missing one snap. I'm going to clean it, set it up, and then spray it with the NevrWet canvas spray from Rustoleum. It has worked very well on my other canvas. Great video combining the military gear from 2 different military's.
Thanks, Pat! That’s really cool you found a set. I haven’t treated any of my canvas, other than a Czech poncho that I used a mix of coconut oil and beeswax. I heard pine tar makes a really good addition to fixing wax, making it more resilient. Have a good one!
@@EnduranceRoom I got a fantastic deal too... $30 was the asking price and it was supposed to be local pickup only, so I gave her $60 to cover shipping and get a coffee. I've waxed other canvas the traditional way. Once I discovered the Nevrwet spray and how water runs right off, I was sold. No mess, no extra weight, and solid performance, so I thought I'd share.
@@TheVerbiousOne Very cool. Glad you got a set. Thanks for the recommendation. If you are ever near Meadville, there is a really terrific Army surplus store, J Ammoto’s and Sons.
@@EnduranceRoom thank you for the suggestion! Meadville isn't all that far from where I live outside of Pittsburgh. Maybe I'll plan a trip to the surplus store in the near future.
Good stuff Jess. Definitely like the way it looks and that awning you mentioned would be a winner as well. Always cool to mix and match and see what you can come up with. Do you see any advantage to running it this way as opposed to running 2 lavvus? Nate
@@EnduranceRoom check him out he has some interesting videos on MRE's. I only wish he would do the reviews in the field out camping? I am loving going through your videos am glad I found you. Keep making the awesome content. Rock and roll dude.
Nice combo. I wanted to ask you more about canvas tents I are having trouble with leaking in my german pup tent from where you would put your arms through while using it as a poncho and I will probarly never use it as a poncho so I wanted to know what would be your opinion about me sewing the poncho holes where your arms go through up to reduce or stop the leaking when both ponchos are set up as a pup tent?
Thanks. Yes, I think that would help. You can make a simple solution of beeswax and coconut oil to treat the canvas. It will give it a nice patina as well as protection from moisture.
Being able to combine different types into something custom is always awesome. I love Frankenstein shelters 😂
👍👍👍 .. a nice combo Jess.
Thanks for sharing .. take care .. Tommy
Thanks Tommy! Appreciate it. Have a good one! 🤝

Hey Jess,
thxs for sharing !!!
grtz. Janneman ...
Thanks Jan! 🤝
Very interesting comparison.
Thanks Kris!
Awesome configuration.
Someday soon I’m going to get my butt in gear and build a shelter with my Danish Military Poncho.
Cheers dude
Very cool idea. I've had the idea of combining a lavvu with 2 plash palatkas, making a baker style tent.
Thanks! The bakers tent you described is awesome. Huge structure.
Excellent!
Thanks Scott!

Thank you! I had cut cord to tie them together, and then saw the buttons would work. Totally sweetened the deal. Cheers
Really making me want a Lavvu

Awesome Jeff! Glad to hear it. I wasn’t sure how many people have these. I really dig the setup myself. Have a good one

Good idea 👍, the two systems go together well, well thought out.
Gotta use what you can find.

Good bro.i have 2 full pop up military shelter 2and1/2.. but yeah there good

Thanks Nate! For me, I seem to have more room in the USGI tent than the lavvu. I really like the lavvu, it is just a little tight.
Awesome great video.
Sometimes you sound a bit like Steve MRE?
Thanks! I think you are the third person to tell me that. I have never listened to him though.

Anything that is multipurpose lightens your load by carrying fewer things. This is the clear advantage of the Lavvu over the USGI.

Army pup doesn't need so much wood to pitch, winner
Compare that to the TCOP TENT
Don’t have one to make the comparison.
