Yep, after 7 years of drawing I was raging so bad cuz I haven’t made ANY PROGRESS, so I started saying to myself: It’s not a lack of skill it’s the app 😒 But now after seeing people draw perfectly on ibis paint (I use ibis paint) I confirm that I am the issue :D
@@Tataah7its completely ok even after 7 years youd still not make progress, if youd try to be more entuthiastic on your art itll make a better improvement soon and will look better than you think it is, weirdly enough i relate because i also had an art experience for 8 yrs and still looks like crap 🥲 but im sure your art is already cool and if you want more improvements try looking at whats wrong in the art and focus mainly on that :) (sorry for the yapping)
Wow watching these helps me realize there's still so many features in ibis paint i have yet to learn about and discover and I've been using it for years, before i was pretty stubborn on not straying from what i knew but since i started using more and more of the program I've found drawing even more enjoyable. Like the clipping feature, erasing excess color and stuff while drawing was a nightmare but since i started experimenting it's been so helpful and i only have to color in the main base color all over and that reference window has been a blessing cause i no longer have to find room on the canvas for refs. with the window you can also zoom in and if you import a reference you can color pick from it too and you can add as many refs as you want as well as switching back and forth between the refs and the actual drawing window and everything stays there (still have yet to figure out the folder but we're getting there lol)
I, too, am currently trying to produce my work in Ibis (I got bored of Procreate after a long while and wanted to try something new)... and I'm excited to watch this!!!
1:56 to flip the ENTIRE canvas with every layer flipped as well, on the side menu with the pens, go to the bottom and click the one with a square labeled ‘canvas’ it will give a set of options like colour changes (colour->grayscale) as well as the canvas switch.
Tbh,I have been using this ibispaint, for years now.....and i was used to colouring and everything but sometimes,Its frustrated that the my only problem with my digital art is the pose, the hands and everything, and when I was struggling,I happen to find this video, and my gosh,it helped me so much,so thanks miss Hana!!❤❤
Another tip for filling in base colors! I like to use the selection layer to fill in the background, and then use the “invert selection area” to be able to quickly fill in the drawing with one color- then I can color in the rest of the colors.
You should definetly do a tutorial on how to make your drawings that shiny+colorful. I know you mention you do not feel confident but my god. My jaw dropped and I really would like to learn from you ;;
EEEEEEE the art is gorgeous!!! i never know ibis was capable of drawing like THAT!! i use ibis paint too, but your art is so freaking amazing and beautiful!!
I recommend you use stabilizer The Stabilizer function automatically corrects free-handed lines into neat lines. Select the 1 Stabilizer tool, choose the degree of correction by dragging the 2 Stabilizer slider left and right.! Edit: wrote function wrong
2:18 Here's tip, and Idk if you already know, but you can find and dl brushes that other people made. They're usually qr codes with an example of said brush or a cute doodle.
Just a little tip! In ibis paint you can change the way you view the relapse of you art process to one with the window (so if your file gets corrupted again you still have the exact footage you saw, if a bit fast) in the info menu on your piece- which is also where you post ibispaint art, too, if thats how you know to get there. The way it usually shows your art in the relapse is called "view fixation," but by clicking on it, a dropdown menu will pop up and you can change it to "with window" which will show everything done.
Instead of using the lasso tool or selection, simply just press magic wand, press anywhere on the area you want to color, color it, and as soon as you let go it will be filled in perfectly!
I've used Ibis Paint for a while and just now I'm learning new useful tips from your videos. I did not know half the things about the app, thanks for sharing!
OMGGG thank you so much for those ibis paint x vids hana !! i loved this video really, was awesome and very precise. the vocaloid(?) themed brownies were also very thoughtful !! love all your content hana !! best birthday present ever aswell !! 🤍 2:40 you can also click on the photo icon in the reference tab, and then add any reference you want!
I didn't think to give many tips in the last one but I would like to say that another thing to do is to check the online brushes made by the community. Those have helped me a lot and slightly editing them to fit how I draw in my tablet has helped a lot. Also always just play around with things... I have watched a lot of tutorials when it comes to Ibis pint but nothing helps more then just reading on the app itself and playing around. 12:1912:19
Oh!! I've been using ibispaint for YEARS and I didn't know some of this, thank you for showing these off (and making an AMAZING piece while you're at it!) 💙💙💙
Recently I've started using a stylus but I didn't have any problem with painting with just my finger. It certainly is hard but I found that I was able to paint great.
2:33 if you tap the first of the five buttons at the top left corner (left of the dotted box) you can add he reference window faster 8:00 you can change the pressure sensitivity of the pen your using at the start up page and top left tapping the gear symbol and scrolling down a bit through the settings you can find the pressure sensitivity section and adjust it to your liking or by going to the brush adjustments and pressing the dynamic option to change the pressure and speed of the brush
I got to admit. I struggled to figure out how to use ibis paint and some of the tips the views gave changed the way I could use the app to create more art :D
Hey Hana!!! i just wondered where i should post fanart because I've been wanting to draw your oc (its SO cute!) and have it at the end of a video! I also just wanna say your the reason I got out of an art block, I REALLY appreciate your tutorials and your videos and your art, you're amazing!!
Hana! i have a video idea for you and a tip you know the part where you tried the smoothen thing with the special brush? it smoothens ur liquify not your art ik sad but thats how it works haha and your venti halloween video gave me an idea what if you drew your ocs / yourself in genshin? or drew visions as people?? anyways thank you for this video I love your art so much 🎀
I know I’m late, but I have a tip for the base colours. Just under transform is the magic wand tool. You tap on the area you want to fill in the base colours of, and then you can go to the selection layer and clean it up, it is really fast and precise
have i ever said ur my favourite artist? ur voice is so soothing and makes even the blandest drawing process enjoyable. whenever i draw i just put on ur videos and it gives me a shit ton of motivation. and ur drawings oh my god the wild hana hair is so iconic and the sparkly hana eyes RAHHHHH thank u for existing the same time as me so i can witness ur MATERPIECES
This is more of a small detail, but ! If you go to settings and press "only contents" under 'layer window thumbnail' it's easier to see what's in each layer !
If you want to blur a whole layer, you can go to filter then gaussion blur. Great for backrounds/blending. I use this in every art work especialy when i use water color brush lol
HANACUEE! IVE GOT SUCH A GREAT TIP ABT URR CORRUPTED FOOTAGE! On ibis on the speedpaint thing where you can save it, if you press on the i (info) icon on ur drawing and then press on video type and then the with window button youll have perfect footage! There, you can save the video as u normally would
7:17 : seeing these tips i thought of what i use: in the selection area i (with the bucket tool) select the outer areas of the parts i want to color and then, in the botton in the menu (where layers are), i invert it. Making it quiet easier for me. You could also check that out !
As someone that uses ibis paint for drawing everyday, im happy to hear you gave it a chance as many people think its for newbie artists but it can be used by pros, experts, and all levels of art, im just happy a drawing youtuber gave it a chance and didnt try to pick out all the flaws to overlap the good parts of ibis paint 😊 (my hands hurt from typing all this 😭😭😭😭)
Im not sure if your clicking the undo button or not (i cant tell from your screen recording), but there is a way to not click the undo button. With two of your fingers double tap it! :3 2:31
5:35 This is because of gap recognition! If you have it off, it will colour anything in the zone you click! If you have it on, it will slowly fill it up because it recognizes gaps! This is especially useful if you have thin lineart, or want to quickly colour a specific area thats connected to another area without colouring both areas
Pretty sure the smoothening mode of the liquify is to undo the liquify in the desired areas. You can also "fix" the bucket tool by ajusting it's strength or gap recognition I guess
when you open the brush menu to choose a brush there should be an online option where you can go and download brushes that may help with blending and all that, as well as being able to control how much pressure does how much (if that makes sense) you can click the little arrow at the bottom and scroll down for a little bit, once you come across the pressure sensitivity adjust you can freely change it to your liking! :3
For the coloring, a way easier tip color in is to make a new layer and drag it to the bottom by the 3 lines. It won't color in for you, but it doesn't merge with the line art
While it’s a bit finicky at times, there’s also a good filter you can use for gradients!!! It’s called Parallel Gradiation (in the “draw” section of filters) and you can do gradients with it in the listed colors. I usually use it for backgrounds, but I wouldn’t doubt if it worked for shading, too!!
I love this so much!! And the way you draw the hair..its just❤❤❤❤ but when i try to study your art work the hair has so many strands its makes it so annoying to study 😭😭 but the end is always very pretty❤❤
as someone who ahs been using ibis for years this actually surprised me with some of the features XD. i never really played around with it except for that basics
Here’s a tip for colouring process, if you can’t use the bucket tool to select your hair or having trouble selecting only the hair or skin etc.. you can add a new layer and colour the hair and if you what to add highlights and texture the fastest way to do it is to click alpha lock on your layer so you can add the shadows and highlights only in your hair.
Another ibispaintx tip which will help u.... when u click on the color wheel a downward arrow towards the left takes you to a panel showing ALMOST all the colors u used!!! this tip rlly helped me a lot while coloring/rendering in ibispaintx
I love your vids, they are so entertaining and helpfull; as a new ibis paint user I found your vids the best for me, they are funny, entertaining and again very helpful ! I also LOVE your art and would love to learn how to draw with such an amazing teacher for me !
7:13 About the fill thingy: there is another, lesser known, way to fill your drawing! You need to go to the stabilisation menu, and then, in the "Drawing tool" section, select the curve. Then, turn on "Fill". Now, when you'll draw smth, instead of just doing the lines, you will have dots (any new dot will make the line longer) and, in between the lines, there will already be the color you wanted to fill the area with! :D [You can also activate this thing on the lasso fill tool. It won't change the fill color, but it will make it more precise!]
you can actually see the auto speedpaint as if you just screen record it if you press the ´i´ button on the right at the botton on preview from my gallery, then it appears video type, and in vidoe type you select with window, and thats all
here is another helpful coloring in tip! you can use "magic wand" and click where you want too color in, use the paintbrush too color in the part that you want to color in. you can remove it by clicking a transparent square like this: ⬜ hope that helps! also, if this is not helpful for you, im so sorry it helps for me so i would think that it would help for you! 😃
If you use smuge and select one of the lines ones(i forgot the name but it has multiple lines) there is alot of them like it vut just try all and use it on something like a rainbow it will look cool(pre test by just a circle of rainbow)
5:23 you can also use the liquify tool as a bucket tool in its settings (just tap the liquify icon again to open) you can control where the color you want to fill more easily with this
8:32 OH MY GOSH I LOVE THIS TIP IM ABOUT TO GIVE So basically, if you go to your gallery, go to the painting you want, press the ‘i’ button with a circle around it. Then you can see all the stuff there, then under ‘video type’ it’ll say ‘video fixation’ press on it, and select ‘with window’. Then watch the time lapse and itll show exactly what you did. If you want to slow it down you can press the backwards button that shows up on the little pop up when you press the screen while watching the time-lapse. You can slow it down to 1x with show what you did exactly. Its so much fun i love it sm.
You can adjust the pattern opacity on the brush to get a softer airbrush! It should be right there when you open the brush and look under the basics tab. Or if you don’t want to change any brush settings, I found that using my finger gives much less pressure than when I use a stylus on my iPad.

5:23 you can also use the liquify tool as a bucket tool in its settings (just tap the liquify icon again to open) you can control where the color you want to fill more easily with this
So pretty❤❤

8:32 OH MY GOSH I LOVE THIS TIP IM ABOUT TO GIVE
So basically, if you go to your gallery, go to the painting you want, press the ‘i’ button with a circle around it.
AHHH THE BROWNIE POINTS ARE SO CUTE!!!!
your art is actually so yummy omg ❤
Ty!! ❤️
I have been on ibis since 2022 and after a certain amount of time you do not have to watch ads to unlock brushes
you don’t have to use selection layer because a quicker way is to click the magic wand and fill in the area 6:47
I love your arttt so muchhhh!
Tysm!! ❤️
You can adjust the pattern opacity on the brush to get a softer airbrush! It should be right there when you open the brush and look under the basics tab. Or if you don’t want to change any brush settings, I found that using my finger gives much less pressure than when I use a stylus on my iPad.
YOUR ART STYLE IS SO CUTE I WANT TO HUG IT
