Your advice really resonates with Saito Naoki! Drawing at your own will and letting your hand fly freely until you can make out the shape or composition than following a specific steps which is not fun for others. Drawing over mistakes is much more progressively rewarding than erasing > repeating the same strokes over when you can color first then the lineart! I really liked this idea and been drawing this way since.
I recommend using the book "The Natural Way to Draw - Kimon Nicolaides" for exercises that teach more of the blobby approaches. The book is like 80 years old now, and the approach Nicolaides used is about getting more intuition for what you're looking at by using different ways of breaking it down without trying to jump into measuring strict proportions or forms immediately. It really helped me to start working that way, it trained a lot of my fundamentals and I continue doing it for warmups and studies.
I think through lines. Not particular shapes, not even the stickman figure, because i need to feel the "flow" in my drawing at the very first step. Thank you for this video, it really helped me out♥
I started learning recently and yeah, I've been struggling with getting the shapes as what I see in the tutorials. I don't think I can judge and form proper silhouettes and proportions yet, but I'm going to try this method; tracing the outline from the reference and checking it on the sketch would be very helpful 👍. Because otherwise, I think I'll just keep practicing the fundamentals before doing even one proper study with reference or making something myself. Thank you, Solum!
Thank you! I was trying to draw without references and was failing miserably hahaha. Also, I really love your voice! Definitely gonna keep following you.
OMG I needed this Thank you so much now im gonna draw!!!! I've been studying art for a while and i still wasbt sure how to start, i got lost drawing boxes on my way to commute earlier today, and now i think i have some ground to stand on!!! Also is clip studie paint good? I use my phone and am unsure if it works there, apparently its a monthly subscription service, atm im using ibspaint, and thinking of buying adless, idk if its a good idea or not (also i cant buy procreate since its not android compatible)
Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you . I cannot live wothout art, and I am the artost of my classz but I still feel like no matter how much I try, I can't draw so well. I have been practicing since I was 5 and I'm 13 now, and my art did improve alot, but it takes way too long not like how some people improve a lot in a few months. I've watched numerous turorials but I think yours gives me the most motivation out of all.
REALLY appreciate this video, i think it helped me think or like visualize(?) drawing in a different way(?) I dunno but i really like the methods you used and explained in the video, very helpful!
I feel like I got a lot out of this video. Your way of looking at this topic is like a breath of fresh air compared to the redundant things every other person just repeats. Its much more personal. Keep it up. Also your art is pretty
“I’m not a pro or anything.” Well, idc I like your drawing here. Maybe one day I can draw/paint like this. I plan on getting a drawing tablet eventually. Just using pencil for now. And boy do I have a LOT I can improve on. Lmao.
Cant watch because yt ad glitched out because the ad was a different aspect ratio and now your video is two vastly different frame of the ad. If i had epilepsy this would be dangerous. Fyi this is not your fault its all yt fault but i need to tell someone about this bug im going insane.
YOoo.. I like your drawing style... its so simple but the result is so amazing... I'm gonna give you a sub.. btw I'm still new here... thanks for the tips
0:10 UGH 😭💢 AHEM, Pretty damn good video ngl. i've been struggling with anatomy alot except the face and stuff but the body below so this method guide me to have something i needed and i used it and applied my turn to it and ngl it's pretty solid! So, thanks a lot for this video!

Very helpful video! I definitely relate to this 0:43 since lineart takes so long and painting is just fun

Apparently watching a short helped!
I'm sorry about that youtube does stuff like that to me on mobile sometimes 🙏😭
Making a comment or replies make my keyboard freeze if not, the letters become invisible so i cant type long comments or replies in mobile
@@rocketblox3629 that happens to me too! Cant even leave the app the keyboard haunts, even if i switch my phone off and on again (sleep not reboot).
the thing is, Im more so trying to learn how to make my own poses without refrence, and I think it just takes a long time to get good at that
