OH GOD PLEASE NO
Finally something that isn't "Draw squares"
Thanks! Glad it was helpful :)
Fr, I hate the squares xd
I understand the logic behind it, but I hate drawing them. It's not fun and I don't feel like it helps me personally at all.
Sounds like someone needs to draw more cubes
honestly, underrated. there are so many complicated tutorials with box techniques or just "have a feel for it" that this is refreshing.
I appreciate it a lot, thanks! Glad that it was helpful :)
Well, “having a feel for it” follows after you’ve done a sufficient amount of practice to get the muscle memory. It comes sooner for some than others but that’s basically the process. For example, I’ve drawn so many anime character faces that I don’t need a reference for drawing them, I just can feel when something looks good or when it looks off. But drawing from muscle memory shouldn’t be the first bit of advice you offer to people just getting started. For the love of god draw from reference and KEEP drawing from reference even after you get good. It just builds up that knowledge bank of stored images in your mind and it helps a ton when you try drawing from imagination later on.
Thanks very much, I'm 1 step closer to being a r34 artist🙏🏿❤️
You're very welcome :) I know you can do it!

@@wasthatthebiteof877 Totally agree :)
I feel so stupid.
I clicked on this video, expected it to be like 20 ish minutes long with a SUPER long tutorial on anatomy and ended up having my entire process of art changed within 3 minutes. It's crazy how the biggest problems you deal with can, more often than not, be solved with a simple process.
Keep up the good work man 👍
You're right! Glad it was helpful :)
It helps watching how multiple artists draw instead of one. It might be confusing because everyone does slightly different things but it will help you create your own recipe. Art is a lot about finding your own recipe and what works.
That’s the great point, you’re right! And I think that this is the beauty of that - to be able to synthesise your own approach and style after studying another artists techniques :)

my mom calls this the "bean method" and I'm so happy that this is a video because I showed it to her and she was so happy to look at me and yell "See?!" like omg she's so cute 😭😭😭
Yes, it's originally called the bean method :)
Bro, finally someone who makes a good tutorial that’s not super confusing and complicated!!! You’re so underrated, but you will definitely make it far! If you don’t, I have no hopes for the future of humanity.
Thank you so much for your heart-warming words, I appreciate it a lot!

drawing beans always helped me with the torso
The same here! It changed a lot to me!
@@ArseniKatsela it so simple!!
@@degrees7097 Yep :)
Samee! Tho in some situations had a little bit of trouble, another thing that helped me was some random pinterest tutorial (maybe other, can't remember now) that used a pillow so it also marked the corners where arms would go and the flatter parts in the front and back ^^
I used this flour sack method before ,it really helped.but made my characters look so curvy at that time i had no practice drawing torsos
You can start to implement a bit more of structure to your drawings to find the perfect balance which would work for you ☺️
Your technique, voice, memes, narration, all in one video, in under 5mins? I can't let you slide, player...subscribed.❤
Thank you so much, glad you like it :)
Me, with adequate proportions but woefully stiff anatomy
Welp, guess I'll try sticking flour in a balloon and drawing the funny shapes it makes!
Basically using animation principles and excercises floor sack/bean exercise + Squish and stretch :)
Perfect! It's a great combo :)
*Squash. Not squish.
I’ve been drawing my entire life without a good concept like this, thank you SO MUCH! I feel like I can make my art improve so much after this!
I'm happy to hear that it helped! You're welcome :)
This was a perfect video. Great advice and examples. This instantly improved my posing and anatomy. Ive always struggled with proportions because i would start with the head. This has made it all so much better. Truly thank you
Glad it was helpful :)
Thank you so much for this!! This is the easiest I've been able to draw bodies in a while!

this is like the perfect spot between very long art tutorials and the short tiktoks that are so fast that you don't even get what the person's saying
just a few minutes, straight to the point, easy to understand and remember

Yaay! You're welcome! I'm glad you liked it :)
I do this same method but change the shape of the sack depending on the body type im going for. But i also more so imagine it as a pillow-ish shape.
It's a great approach :)

Ive made up so many characters that look amazing in my head and im trying to learn to get them out of my head and onto paper.
It may take a while, but I know you'll make it :)
Really getting back into art trying to widen my horizons of posing and no just doing front facing poses
Hey! It’s fine, we all are getting stuck from time to time! It’s just the matter of practice - more you do it better you get. I know you will make it 😊

thanks, btw love your oc!

Wow, this trick is super cool! i wonder if you could apply it to other parts of the body
Thank you! This bean method is typically applied to chest and pelvis. But there are also methods in which spheres and their deformed versions are used to block out all of the general masses of the body! It's just one of the dozens way you can draw the body :)

I wish you could talk about how you were moving the lines and shadows around (@3:25). Is there a kind of brush that does this?
I was just erasing some shadows with the eraser :) That exact eraser is from my Drawing Brush Pack, you can find it on my Patreon page!

I’m in love with this whimsical babygirl of a man
Nice video man, this was really helpful, can you give me a link on where u got the ipad, I want to go digital
Thank you! :)
I have an old IPad Air 4th gen (2020). You can try to find it in your local shops or you can grab a newer generation of this tablet from Apple.
Honestly, any IPad with Apple Pencil will be enough for drawing digitally. And I believe that IPad Pro is ridiculously overpowered for the goal of drawing. So it's better to grab basic IPad or IPad Air and use spare money to buy a course of digital art. In that way you won't lose money and you'll improve much quicker!
This actually wasn't the first time someone told me to draw minecraft if I want to practice anatomy
hey Arseni Katsela, is you're patreon brushes the same as the ones you uses in the video? i really like that sketch brush?
Yes! It's the same on the video. I'm in love with this square Draft Brush that you can see here in action! Also I've wrote a description to every brush in the set on Patreon. It shows how and when I'm using each one of the brushes :)
My third eye opened when i saw that bean tilt

It is amazing, isn't it, how many online drawing tutorials seem to present idealised female bodies as the best subjects? 😉
wtf. I was practicing anatomy today and was having A LOT of trouble. Nothing comes out right. I went to youtube to calm down and saw this video on top recommended. It depends on your goals - portable or stationary drawing?
What's the metal tip that you use for your apple pencil? I found the base one too big
It's the PenTips Ink nibs! For me it's more comfortable to draw with metal ones, I don't think I'll go back to standart Apple tip.
You can get a 5% off them if you click the link in the descripton of this video, so feel free to check it out :)

Does the sack method also apply to males? If so, is there any differences that should be made when placing the shapes together?
It does! There are two main differences. Males got bigger chest and more narrow pelvis than females
YOU'RE SO UNDERRATED

What is that pen tip your using on your apple pen?
Nevermind, just realised it was linked in the bio
PENMAT, HUH!
Good to know.
Thanks for the Bean Recap, too 👍
Glad you’ve liked it! You’re welcome ☺️
great video! may i ask what ipad do you use in the video
Thank you ☺️ It’s IPad Air 4th gen (2020)
why do you use the pencil with the metal tip, is it so the matte doesn't shave down the nib? and if so, what pen is it? I would love to know.
It’s the PenTips Ink nibs. I haven’t seen any damage yet. They are designed to work with the PenMat, so they seem not to wear down the mat! You also can get them with 5% off through the link in the description!

Where did you buy your drawing iPad?
I bought it 3 years ago at some tech online store, but better option is to by it directly from Apple to have a full warranty
this video for some reason was very hard for me to follow, but was the tip essentially draw a center line on the simplified body so it's easier to know where everything goes and how it all faces??
Yes, you're right :) Also with this method you can learn how to place each of the general masses of the body relatively to each other! For example: is the chest in front of the pelvis and how then do we show overlapping? It's a great way to start thinking in 3D
No way Childhood Alan Becker this made me cry

Nice video friend, I see that you're using a PenTips tip that has a metal tip at the end. I have to ask before getting it, if it damages your screen protector.

Arseni, Thanks for the video. Liked and subbed. In the future maybe could you do a "how to begin" video? Maybe like what you would do and use if you were new starting out? Paper and pencil? Or cheap digital? etc? Thanks!
Sure! Right now I'm creating a free workbook which contains all of these information and also the most important thing - all the structure of learning digital art! So you will know the tools and the plan. It should be released this week :)
@@ArseniKatsela Awesome thank you!
Oh I like that a lot. That's a really good take on the bag of flour idea that doesn't include flour. Flour is the worst- just sits there in a big old clump of dust and spite, ready to become hand prints on your clothes. Two tennis balls in a sock, though? I can visualize that.
So true! Two tennis balls in the sock are working great for visualization!
