    Another study method for artists with ADHD is to switch between at least a couple different study topics. Maybe work on anatomy for a bit then switch to practicing vanishing points. When I discovered this I improved significantly faster. Mostly because I was spending longer amounts of time working. Whenever I feel myself getting bored I’ll just switch to drawing or painting something else.

    The science of studying is actually a lot more then just pomodoro technique. There are a lot of concepts and studies about "how to study properly and effectively". Few example are interleaving, space repetition, study lamp, active recall, SQ3R Method ecc. I learned these concepts by watching thousand of video and reading hundred of books when I started uni but they are really usefull in anything you do in life

    Pomodoro changed my life. I got a certification for my job and i've had more success practicing drawing and writing.
    It's interesting because it serves as an example of the importance of small goals. I've always had problems studying for hours (thankfully school was easy enough that I didn't have to), but I can sit for hours without realizing it, because my goal is simply "make it past this 30 minutes".
    Then another 30, and another, and another. My goal is so clear and defined I'm able to focus completely without wandering.

    Seems worth trying. Is there any chance youll do a video on textures? Ive noticed nobody really touches the subject, and i always see people skip the part where they apply textures at the end. Id like to know exactly what people (or at least you) use, and how they tweak them. Its a small step that goes a long way to making something look "done".

    "Creative Confidence" by David and Tom Kelley
    Not only an amazing book for artists and designers but everyone who wants to level up their life and work with some creativity (and creative problem-solving) as well
    It talks a lot about structuring projects, overcoming procrastinantion and that thinking-doing-gap and they present several idea-finding/building techniques

  • @rowan404

    I have a completely different problem. Once I actually sit down and draw, I can often go from start to finish with ease, but I rarely have the motivation to get out of bed and sit at my desk to draw. The only way I can actually get myself to draw is when I feel so inspired that I can’t think of anything else, almost like I have to vomit my idea before I can continue life like normal, or when I livestream myself drawing and get rewarded with constant attention. Unfortunately, neither of these situations apply to skill improvement projects (they don’t involve bursts of creativity nor spark the interests of viewers), hence why I’m struggling with the RUclips Art School program. I haven’t completed a single assignment and I registered about four months ago. I would’ve given up entirely, but I don’t want my money to be wasted.

    I find pomodoro takes me out of flow state with the ringing. Though the breaking down of tasks into small tasks, and getting rid if screens is amazing.
    I tend to use a method of breaking down a task in 1/2 multiple times until I find it manageable to start. So if we’re using time, I’ll say I wanna draw figures for an hour. That’s too much for my brain in a moment. So I’ll cut it in half : 30 minutes. Then cut in half again : 15 minutes. Okay that’s managable.
    Then I put a stopwatch and go until I feel like I’m losing steam or back hurts. Then I turn off the stop watch. If I meet 15 minutes or more I’ve already accomplished my small goal. Though often I’ll get to that 1 hour or sometimes even more without thinking about the time. And I keep my flow state.
    I may cap my time based on how much time I got if I have another thing on my schedule, but I’ll think less about time and do more quality than before.

    I know this comment probably won’t be seen but would this method work with the fundamental video you posted a couple months back. Like applying a couple of Pomodoros to each fundamental. Example 2 doros for form drawing practice, 2 for line placement, 3 for perspective, 4 for anatomy of certain, 3 for monster and human design, 4 for observation and etc. Also would it be good to have art projects, like making OCs or trying to make designs, environments and etc while learning the fundamentals or should I learn the fundamentals first and then go on to making projects? I find the urge to making an art project just to come to a stop because I know well I can’t draw lol. So it’s a never ending fight in my head.

  • @Siinory
    @Siinory 12 дней назад

    Huh, now that I think about it, I was using this method without knowing about it for fighting games. Spending a short amount of time on something I wanted to learn (let's say anti-air), after 30 minutes, I take a break and then I was fighting actual players and apply what I learned and make it the entire 1 hour ranked session

  • @FayebilArt
    @FayebilArt 10 дней назад

    Did you ever create animations, Marc?
    I've been an artist and animator for 10 years. My art is "Meh" and I want to break my plateau. So in December last year I set a big goal of creating my own anime-style video. It's a big ambition that won't happen overnight, so I gotta find out how to not give up on it. I broke it down into smaller goals like learning how to animate quickly and skillfully. They are broken into smaller goals like understanding human anatomy, and even smaller goals like learning anatomy proportions and things like the deltoid, neck, collar bone, and rib cage. I hyperfocus on these projects and do not like interruptions, but I try to take a break at least once every hour. You might say that's my version of the Pomodoro Method. I realize that it may take years before my anime video is complete, but I rely on small victories like understanding the contours of an arm.

    Hi, recently ive had what i would like to call an "art depression", I basically just ruined my own passion somehow by overworking myself with trying to improve, since I'm self taught, i sometimes can't really tell what i'm doing and if all of those efforts i'm spending are actually useful or not, it's been about a year that i'm learning but i feel like i destroyed everything those past few days by forcing myself into becoming better as fast as possible, the problem is, when i think about other artists ahead of me it makes me frustrated and pushes me into working harder, but on the other hand, i don't know where i should spend actual effort and all of this frustration is completely stopping me from seeing my full potential, now everytime i pick up a pencil i have all these thoughts in my mind that i can barely get rid of and i just want to stop everything as my will to draw slowly fades away, thank you for reading all this and, is there anything i can do about it..?

    Question. Can I still listen to music while drawing? Despite the fact it's on my tablet or phone.

    5 minute break? It's like eating only one piece of pizza, not finishing it, although you are hungry, and throwing it in the trash.

    I know you said and repeated that it is important to write and track everything, but why is that? What do I do with the information I have after tracking it??? This is the part I always get stuck on TT~TT
