- Well, here goes! We're going to try our first multicast across both RUclips and Twitch! I will be responding to chat over on / cityplannerplays , so feel free to swing by if you'd like to chat, or stay here if you'd just like to chill out and watch.
We'll continue work on Newmarket... a city we started a few weeks back on Twitch. It isn't much right now - 20 blocks and a strangely elaborate cemetery. I've got plans for New Market, that include pumping the population to at least 150k as quickly as we can.

I am from the Dutch city of Nijmegen, which was founded over 2000 years ago by the Roman Empire under the name Noviomagus, which is Latin for New market!! 😃

It's a nice city. But the area around the train station needs an inspirational redevelopment project.

Is it the same city that the Romans founded tho? Many cities in Europe were devastated during Ww2, especially the Netherlands. Not only that, but during the Middle Ages, most Roman buildings outside of Italy were looted for building materials.

It brings me a lot of joy to hear that stories and artworks are in the works for MC. The thought you put into your stories brings these cities to life.
Ok as a Railroader for 18 yrs, the main yard tracks connect to the main line tracks and the single rail tracks connect to the main yard track before the mains. Also the service tracks should connect to the main yard track or the closest single rail track. The service tracks also should connect to the main yard track in a "Y". Curves need to be large and not have anything connecting to them.

About the Spotify Wrapped. I'm most similar to Albuquerque, New Mexico which has the biggest metal shows in the states iirc. This year was a funny one for me, other years showed I was fairly diverse in my music tastes but this year was a hard no for that. My Top 5 songs were from the same album. My top 5 bands were all metal and I was Top 0.05% for my top band, Gojira (8,000 minutes played of 28,000 total). Throughout the year I had each of my top 5 in a different month too.

I wonder if that abundance of fenced in plots is side effect of Finnish Law as we have something called "everyone's right" which says any properly that's either a certain distance of a house or isn't fenced in is considered public lands for the most parts (there's still limits as to what you can do but those aren't relevant here) so as result fences are somewhat more common here, so that might effected the devs somewhat.
Rent is crazy anywhere. I moved here from Canada for love, but I live in Bellingham, WA and the housing costs are crazy. Our landlord sold our apartment out from under us in 2020 and we had to move on the exact day lockdown started. When we got that original apartment we could qualify, but even tho we never missed a payment we can't get qualified for the rent around here because you need to be making 3x the rent. And then we also had 2 cats when we moved which makes it so expect. People charge extra rent for pets plus "non-refundable pet deposits" which I do not know how that is a deposit...we ended up taking a one room 19x20 cottage from a friend that gets wet along the floor near the wall in the winter, plus the toilet and the front door aren't well insulated for they drip in the winter and our windows get wet too. So we keep rags around the house constantly wiping things up. I went to use my Worcestershire sauce the other day and I opened the bottle and the whole top was moldy. Last year I had to throw out all my spices. I keep rice in the salt but I still have to periodically clean the top off for it gets blocked. It's a complete s-hole. And it's not technically a place we are allowed to rent...if anyone asks I will tell them my friend is my uncle and then I will be ok lol. But the city here doesn't crack down on these things. They don't have enough time and manpower to do anything about it and there are so many homeless people I figure they'd rather have people housed than not. The home prices are out of control here because people come from California. We have the same liberal vibe and it's a college town and the cost of housing is quite lower. Plus we have a lot of natural beauty here.
I grew up in Richmond BC.you should check that town out in Google maps sometime. That's the benefit of living in Canada. The transit is amazing. There are sidewalks and streetlights in all the neighborhoods. Every neighborhood centers around a school/park/community center. It's also flat as flat can be. I've been trying to build it with the delta map but it's have because CS2 has no "sea level" and getting everything so flat without flooding is hard.

Note that when drawing roads with the Bypass Validation on, at least on the older version, used to break roads, it can block upgrades on the road later on

the baby only trees drive me nuts, and I think a mod to disable weather until snow and winter weather work and are buggy visually is essential.
@35:40 if your wife likes overcooked she/you should try plateup! It's a game that is coop but not so reliant on someone playing with you like overcooked! I love it! I adored overcooked and prefer plateup!

Could literally have the video used at a job application for a new park being considered in a new up and coming neighbourhood like the one I grew up in. Amazing content as always!
Also, when having pig livestock in an enclosure, there will be in either dirt and mud, just the nature of what they do. Having them grazing in grass is very unlikely. They are rooting animals. That grass would be eaten in 5 seconds. Lol but love the videos man! Been watching for over 3 years now. You are incredible at making these videos! Love the idea of being a city planner and watching my home town turn from a rural country side turn from a little town to now a destination spot for people in surrounding areas to visit and enjoy.

Some other game suggestions: Plate up, Dorfromatik, Mario RPG, Valheim (there is village building and combat), Chants of Sennaar, Planet Coaster, Bear and Breakfast, Farthest Frontier, Wandering Village, Headbangers, Storyteller, Dredge, Stray Gods, American Arcadia, Loddlenaut (most of the games listed above don't have much combat because I'm not sure that's what you want for a stream game)
Also I LOVE Stardew as well. I have put nearly a thousand hours into it over the last 5 years
I was putting this list together and you started talking about affordability. I live in the greater Vancouver area. It's 1.2 m to purchase a tiny, only partially updated, home from 1950 in one of the suburbs outside of the city. Not that I can even attempt to buy. It's 2000k a month to rent a single bed apartment and 3500-4000k to rent a sfh which makes it nearly impossible to save for a 20% down-payment on a home that is anywhere between 1-1.5m. In fact, when I asked the bank if myself and my husband (who both have work that puts us in or above the median average income) could qualify for a loan they basically just said I should hope that someone in my family leaves an inheritance for me if I have any hope of qualifying.
It's a big ask in the US that people drive more slowly and carefully because MURRICA!

So at about 2:19:12 you asked if the loops are a thing with trains. They are but the way you have it set up wouldn’t happen unless they had no other choice. Also the two lines on the one side would merge together before the first cross. Normally type would want to keep the loop separate and not cross other lines. It’s a safety hazard for both the train on the loop and the one that would be on the approach. Also the train on the loop would be fowling the yard. If the yard get two backed up you can then end up fowling the main. So typically a loop would balloon and tie in to a siding of some kind. If you want to learn more about that kinda stuff I would suggest looking a hyce here on RUclips. His channel is all about trains and the American narrow gauge. 😊
I feel like not naming the town Colma is an opportunity missed - but maybe we don't want to match existing cities too much?
This is a tiny town in Northern San Mateo County, on the San Francisco peninsula, with most of its land dedicated to cemeteries and the population of the dead outnumbering the living by nearly a thousand to one.
Never in my life would I think that me and Phil got the same music taste. What cuz know about the Long Beach crip lol
My mom does Air BNB cleanings and she actually hates when the guest does any sort of cleaning (especially the beds) because she still has to clean it regardless and it is usually not done to the professional standards. I wont say thats the case for every rental but most dont expect you to clean up or make the beds! Most hosts give all of the cleaning fee to there cleaners (if they have a professional) so it is going to somebody who needs it and not just another host looking for another fee.

Oh there are things like HOAs in Canada. But they aren't exactly the same and they aren't called HOAs. I don't think there are any such things in neighborhoods with individual houses. But we had a Strata organization in our little neighborhood of townhouses. And they were generally low key, but there was one woman in the neighborhood who moved in and decided to go around and enforce every tiny little rule infraction she could. It was like her full time hobby.

One thing im really curious about is since you already have an established channel here on youtube, and i would imagine a much bigger reach here, why would you want to push for monetization on twitch? Especially for how disruptive ads are on twitch to content like this

I think it might be a lot of fun to run a Civ 5 game and a skylines game in the same narrative. start a civilization as the benevolent dictator King Phillip I and then have the dear leader hire the humble planner Phil to design a magnificent city to serve as a capitol for the world. Grand blvds, triumphal monuments, a center of culture, prosperity and learning to rival any other. While your Civ rakes in the gold, money in skylines becomes no expense. Costly war or a settlement in need of aid? maybe the prime minister quietly tells you to be a bit less ambitious with that new district. Lay low a foreign aggressor (or need to distract the peasants from the harsh realities global politics)? A victory park to commemorate the courage and valor of your lost spearman unit. Place world wonders that, for reasons beyond logical comprehension, the King wants (It is unwise to question his edicts). or design your city walls to protect the plebs from barbarian hoards, maybe even teaching us something with historical analog. The skylines 1 workshop has plenty of assets to mimic anything in civ, building to building and the community is certainly able to create anything else you may need. Even naturals disasters can mimic a volcano or bombardment should things go awry. And different polls in civ might serve as a parliamentary vote for your new empire.

do 2 have asset editor i found way make bit more money at start game is edit recycling center chance maintenance cost say it $500 then chance to say $-500+ so each month you make that or other building so go in game pick new building it start make money for u then loosing it. you make you own style of housing if go in the asset editor you chance color, add or remove item from building i so many mods did first game i don't have new game try making new ones, have look on steam should lot new mods out.
