- I asked if you'd want to help me fix up Van Buren's blocks live and the results were overwhelmingly positive! In this stream, we'll go through each block and make small subtile improvements. I'll also ask you for your suggestions for things that I may have missed in the build along the way.

I’ve been meaning to comment on this for a while. To add realism to the street trams you should use node controller and widen the corner that the tram is turning on. That way the trams have a less sharp turn and can go a bit faster. I’ve seen this in cities like Minneapolis. Also fellow Wisconsinite here. Loving the content!

Would you consider adding in some synagogues, mosques, Hindu and Buddhist temples and community centers? Maybe even some ethnic market areas would be cool too. Some of these areas remind me of some neighborhoods in Ohio that are surprisingly religious diverse. Immigrant and minority communities are a great part of the story of any city and neighborhood!

I'm from Milwaukee and I loved all of the museum talk at the beginning. Our zoo and museum are basically my 2 favorite places in the entire world. Went to school in West Allis as a kid in the 80s and used to go to field trips to both of them all the time. Still some of my best memories.
I do a lot of remediation work for new building projects, I'd love to have an episode of redevelopment in contaminated areas in "rust belt" America. Seems to fit the Superior theme. Happy to help provide insight on the topic too!
As you talk about population at 1:33:11 it's pretty wild to see that apartment block - which is a high density building - only holds a single household. Changing that with the Realistic Population mod would help so much with the demand. And probably murder your traffic flow in Van Buren, lol

I think it'd be cool to see a Southeast Wisconsin style city/town. Flat as hell, only driveable, every corner is a Kwik Trip, a bank, or a strip mall, and suburbs EVERYWHERE. New Berlin is a great reference for something like that if you wanna make one.
I’d disagree with the flat as hell comment, but everything else is spot on! I grew up in Waukesha, which is quite hilly.
The Kwik trip take over has been quite annoying though. I loved my PDQ’s
@@OuterSpaceChannel Checkout New Berlins topography, lots of hills inbetween stuff and in certain areas but pretty dang flat in most of the developed area. They have been cutting down hills a ton too

Not to snoop too much but if the planning harm you mentioned was the immense segregation and harm of the American freeway system, that would be very cool. And if not in this series, I think it would be really interesting to explore the way to build back scarred communities like that in cities skylines.
Hey! I've been watching for a year now and I live in Clearwater, Florida. I was wondering if you could add native host plants to your parks, if possible! Trees like Oak trees are huge host plants for native butterflies, but there are also lots of wildflowers, shrubs, and groundcover plants that host moth and butterfly caterpillars! We also have lots of man-made lakes for birds and for collecting rain runoff because it rains so much. I know your Clearwater isn't necessarily built on Clearwater, FL but it would be really nice if there was some way you can introduce these in the next episode!

I totally recommend checking out Akruas, his PO work make his cities impossible to replicate. He builds amazing futuristic cities using PO. I wish I could figure out how to use it because I have blender experience, probably consider myself an advanced user, but I know it would be different in the game. But PO opens the door to so many possibilities by basically creating your own mods that fit your city uniquely.
also, a channel I recently discovered is by Imperatur, he shares some awesome tips and tuts on vanilla builds. it's unbelievable what you can do in vanilla using his tricks. His latest trick was to show how a glitch lets you plop down elevated walkway pillars without the walkway and use them as supports above the median of an avenue, for a metro track. his tips are so good. I highly recommend
a good way to improve land values could potentially be finding church/mosque assets that are categorized as parks, it would be a great real world touch to the city
Finally caught up on Clearwater County! Great series, it's getting me through writing my PhD thesis!
I commented this during the Live but I think having a few large medical campus areas would really support the growing population, most big cities in WI or the Midwest have at least one or two main hospitals and or children hospitals. Hope you see this CPP love CWC!!

Also, Phil, your new Van Buren apartment complex porbably should have a small elementary school in it...possibly where you moved that pool from (and still replace the second pool with a dog park).

Been following you for over a year and have not gotten any better (tbh it's probably cuz I play console) but to honest honest you have either the nicest next-door-neighborr vibe or the creepy neighbor vibe. Either way, love your content. #1 city skylines in my opinion.
I would love to see those growable tall buildings which randomly pop up next to 2-3 storey buildings be clustered together more. If they were all in one area it would greatly increase the realism of the city and make it feel like there is a real downtown, not just a scattered mess of growable buildings. I think it is done really well in Ashland, and as a result Ashland feels like much more of a city.
1:34:50 That is all fine and dandy. Problem is that most of that bill is for wasteful spending while only 8 percent going toward transportation. Only few places are getting such fancy new vehicles, and the areas in question include ones where the power issue has been mishandled so thoroughly bad that even the electric vehicles can not be powered as much, if at all.
1. As a state capital city, Van Buren either needs its own airport, or Clearwater County Airport needs to be expanded.
2. So does the Air National Guard base, which the state headquarters should be included.
3. There should be an Army National Guard HQ/base near the Air National Guard base for quicker deployment.
Love watching you do your thing man, so so good, thought process I strive for. One very minor thing I'd like to say, that apartment block you changed to six, would I think at least be 3 or 9 having 3 floors. Keep up the great work, looking forward to CS2
Had to watch an add for “The Line” by Neom. A line city. It’d be cool to see you thoughts on it on your second channel. I missed the steam, due to events going on, but CWC my favorite CS series, maybe favorite YT series (other than discontinued Project: 863).

I’m seriously late too this video but I missed a lot of this series so I started too rewatch it a couple of weeks ago. 😅 I haven’t caught up yet but if you haven’t fixed the issue with the roads over the train tracks yet maybe adding nodes where you want to place the crossings & the deleting just that segment of the pedestrian path will work? Just connect them up too the road again with normal paths afterwards maybe will do the trick? ☺️ You will lose the brick down on the walls by the tracks but maybe that doesn’t matter in just those places 😅😊

I tried to use Move-It to move a building that grew, but it then poofed away.
If you used surface painter for farms would it keep the farms from unloading at high distance?

Sorry to hear about your editor, I work in Television post production and communication skills are key for sure especially when dealing with remote editors. I used to live by University of Denver, I love that city and hope to make it back. Makes me smile every time I hear you talk about it.

1:51:49 You're not bad at streaming, there's a lot to keep track of at once and even the biggest streamers don't do it all perfectly; I'd say you do fairly well, esp for your amount of experience
I agree with you about the Civilization games, they are definitely the kings of that type of genre. I have gotten to where I like 6 as much as I like 5. I play them both with many mods. One of the things that helped me with 6 was to use a mod that uses a Civ 5 skin, so the world looked real and not so cartoony. The aspects I like about 6 are mainly the districting because it makes more sense as opposed to having almost everything in one centralized location. I have always played 5 with a mod that allows 2 military units per tile and found one that works great for unit stacking in 6. You are completely right about 6 having some pretty twisted diplomacy issues, I play with mods that help alleviate that, but still, it seems pretty off. I had the hardest time transitioning from 4 to 5 due to the new hex-board. Now the hex-board is the only thing that makes sense. I think the AI is much better in 5 than 6, and I use mods to help with this, and what happens is the game will outplay me on development with exception of the military department.
Have you given Cities Skylines sister game in that type of genre? It is called Europa Universalis IV, it is a magnificent game with tons of details. One of the big differences is the game is real time opposed to turn based like the Civilization games, you can pause the game and do a bunch of policy decisions and then turn the game timer back on and this really helps save face in the game. Europa really follows history to a T, one of the biggest differences between the two is real lifespan of leaders and succession from the ruling line. The thing the game lacks as opposed to Civilization games is the randomness of a world generation, but in return you have all civilizations that existed as opposed to 12. The game lacks the discovery aspect except for Africa and the Americas, but pretty much everyone who plays these games know their history and geography, so we know exactly where everything is on the undiscovered parts of the world. I think I did find a mod that did a randomization of undiscovered continents, I am pretty sure it was only for the Americas, not for Africa, and definitely not for Asia. The game is incredibly good at increasing knowledge of European events from the 1400s to the 1800s and allowing you to participate in them and changing them. Mostly in acquisition of new territories. One thing that Europa did not prepare me for was the way the game is so adept at handing me my ass, especially if you choose one of the smaller nations on the fringe of Mongolian type invasion forces.

Hey CPP, as you were talking about CIV I was thinking if you have ever tried the ANNO series? It might be something good for you, alot of micro management.
Anno is beautiful and intricate, I don't have a proper gaming computer anymore and it's one group of games I miss a lot.
You could have put the dog park on an angle so that you could put the angled houses closer together, I feel like that would look more natural
Akruas is one I've been watching for PO blows my mind some of the things I've seen on there, and it's not PO but Daxtoe has some awesome vanilla building ideas I love the "modular" style of some of his vanilla builds.

France is taking its worse heatwave. A Personnal friend just spend 4 weeks without a minute with less than 31°C. Today it was announced 41°C. He doesn't have an AC/Clim/HVAC system.
Also forest fires, all west of France is touched. South too. Firefighters come form the rest of Europe to help. That friend just told on twitter this morning, that some crops are all ready lost. Sunflowers are harvest Two weeks in advance to save what is left. Corn is done, and I mean burnt. Most of the agricultural production regions are without water (almost). I, in my region: Brittany, a restriction on water that state: "You can't use water for ANYTHING except drinking, cooking and washing. With heavy restriction on industries and no more public swimming pool. If you have a swimming pool, you can't add water or dump the water." 99 on 106 départements (sub administrative of a region) have restriction on water since last week. If anything is really done, Corsica will not have any water in the pipe the 26th of August. At last, they have a thunderstorm today, so they maybe got a few days of spare.
And you know what, it's not the worse. The Gouvernment does fucking nothing. They really plan for nothing. It's late stage capitalism at its peak.
Add to all of that, the war in ukraine, where putin burned some crops, I can tell today, Most of middle east/nort of africa will not have enough food next year (egypt is fucked, 82% of the wheat is form ukraine) , and maybe the following one. Europe will be hardly touch too, but less than middle east. I don't have intel on the size of the crops exchange with asia, so I don't know.
Add to all of that the true economic crisis in china, it will be worse in september, I don't know it will not end in a WW3. It's going to be to have some civil wars. I can't see that not happening.

Your city looks so nice even when your other videos, do you have any tips or show us what your settings are with your visual mods please? Im currently using relight, daylight classic, but cant find the settings. Also fps booster. Ive a 5900x with a 3070 running at 1440p, getting average 25 to 30fps when zoomed in.

I think you should release both a VOD and an edited video with highlights once you have the capability, I love watching your videos and this stream but sometimes work gets in the way and it is not possible to be there live
Is it possible to make the alley pedestrian/emergency vehicle access only? I feel like that would be a small improvement and prevent people using the residential space as a shortcut/turnaround.
Would love to see you play Rim World. I could be wrong but it may be a game you enjoy and can be good for challenging comic relief.
Any plans to modify the pedestrian area over the train tracks when the new Plazas and Promenades DLC is out?
With the pedestrian roads you're using as a Car crossings, It might be worthwhile to deny pedestrian traffic on the actual bridges, Since you have the Pedestrian/emergency vehicle only bridges.

Milwaukee’s planning is messed up for sure. Doesn’t make it any less beautiful of a city. The reason I believe is because Milwaukee has 3 founders who had their own separate territories. Juneau, Kilbourn, and Walker. They had an ongoing feud with each other, and would purposefully plan their roads to not line up with roads in the other territories.
I love Madison as well, but somehow traffic in Madison isn’t much better from what I remember. It’s been like 10 years since I’ve lived there, but I remember the Beltline being the bane of my existence every night.

very late but 3, 4 and 6 are my favorite civs, i have about 2k hours played in civ 6 lol. i prefer the civ 6 art work. cartoony style always ages better than attempting realistic looking artwork (except probably in the case of cities lol). been playing world of warcraft, which is very cartoony, since 2008 and because of the style it doesnt look dated at all.
I wanted to talk about an idea that crossed my mind.
I thought what if City Planner Plays roleplayed doing the right thing against the mayor's big interests wishes and getting fired, but then the communities of the city join in as he leads them to build things themselves until he is crowned, hehe I mean voted mayor.
