Matt:- I belong to the prestigious clan of the ENGINEERS
also matt:- Makes amazing cities skylines video with the most arguably architect idea ever .
Hey, the Architects came up with the design, he is just the engineer trying his hardest to actually make the designs functional.
@@GeneGear At this point he is the engineer, the architect, and the construction worker
@@n_o_o_nedon’t forget the mayor too!
as they say, either u retire an engineer or live long enough to become an architect.
@@solriver267 under-rated comment 🥶🗿
Now all you need is a second octagon and to connect "the line" to the middle and it'll be really efficiently engineered.
Best traffic solution (Architects HATE this method!)
This is obviously the Saudi's long range goal.
@@iluomopeloso They have come so far
@@iluomopeloso Some say the Saudis can come hundreds of miles

I like how consistently projects in Saudi Arabia are just these YA novel nightmare situations waiting to happen.
they're building a bigger than life meme
They're building the perfect location for Spec Ops The Line sequel/remake😅
They have all this fuck you money with oil along with living in the middle of the desert, so I guess may as well
@@TheArklyte This time within a sinking city with crazy locals and parties of interest tempting you to the dark side. Hold on, isn't that BioShock?
3 people have already been assassinated because they refused to leave their village homes to make way for the new city. Sad stuff..
Hi, RCE. If you have mentioned Biffa, maybe you could have a collab with his “Fix my city” series? You can send him Engitopia with all its problems to fix them, that will be great
would be the easiest fix, "deletes the map"
The map might be fixed afterwards but Biffa is gonna be broken.
What do you mean, Engitopia is perfect lol
69, Nice.
Please!!!!!!
It’s times like these when you explain road junctions really well that I’m reminded you actually have credentials.
Saudi Arabia: builds octagon city mega project
Matt: hold my coffee
Also Matt: builds octagon AND 30,000 ft tall sewage canal
Already did better than Saudi Arabia just by remembering that people poop.

For an engineer, Mat salivates a lot over things only an architect would imagine up

Can we take a moment to apriciate Matt's hardwork he posts videos every day for us
No. Yes.
No
+ his videos are edited so respect
It must take him so much time
@@funkymunky7935 Yeah, totally. Not like he thinks of his video ideas. Not like he edits his videos. Not like he's earned this with all his hard work. Not like you could do the same if you worked hard instead of complaining in the comments.
You're 90% of the way to turning the poocano into the strongest shape man, go all the way with it!!!
Dooo
A shipping lane through the middle of a city sounds like a complete nightmare. Just imagine the floating liter in the water. Or one day a boat wrecks into the houses and just ruins everyone’s day. Jesus. That sound like a practical nightmare
Engitopia, losing a million dollars a week, is somehow the most fitting place for these saudi mega projects.
Pretty realistic for these types of proyects lol.
"Do seas have edges?"
yes, those are called coast O.o
investor's and developer's dream is always both architect's and engineer's nightmare
Looking at a picture of the Oxagon, it doesn't look THAT bad - a little ridiculous when you could just build wider along the same coastline, but it's not completely crazy.
No, the crazy bit is when they decided that all of the stuff on the "water" side of the city would be floating. That's... what?
just 'cuz you can, doesn't mean you should ;) words to live by
Well they saving space. In the middle of nowhere. By turning city in one gigant commie block.
Exactly, what's the point of making it float just sounds like it's going to be a pain in the ass. Especially when you can just put land there
It's all for the gimmick of it, to get people talking about it. same with the line. anyone with a brain can see how inefficient it is
Dooftopia doesn't sound too crazy then. And he just had a lot of felt.
Little do we know, Mat secretly works for the Saudi government and this is him just testing out his ideas before they go through. Engitopia is the future of Saudi Arabia
Im slowly getting the feeling that matt slowly becomes an architect because he comes up with ideas that only an architect would come up.
I feel like Engitopia needs better public transport to connect the various cities to each other
I know this channel is supposed to be weird and goofy but one time I would like to see Matt build stuff like a separate city fully as efficient as he can for real

@@madtechnocrat9234 for what? 😲
@@Nawaf- for the fact that your money is wasted on architectural madness which causes engineers and architects to wither and die on sight alone.
i suggest adam something video about the line... and other ones about this as well...
I love the idea that when RCE worker at his old Jobs, he would sit quietly at his desk for hours. And then suddenly would just giggle because he spotted a very efficient layout in his design.
Thanks to you this happens to me now all the time. XD
Today I read about how one of the leaders of the line stepped down when it was discovered that tens of thousands of people have died...so far...in the construction of it.
Only a real civil engineer can instantly pierce through the hard crust of the earth.
I'd be VERY surprised if "The Line" in SA is ever built to look remotely like the architectural designs, it's probably going to end up being a line of independent skyscrapers in the middle of nowhere where no one will end up living because they forgot that they were building it in the middle of a desert with no water source and need to build enormous de-salination plants to support the ultra rich residents.
At the VERY least, they're never going to have a hyperloop (because it's a non-functional design disproven 100+ years ago), or flying cars. At best, they'll have a monorail lol.
Dear a civil engineer
We need more strong shape builds. I live in enginetopia, and my neighbour is a architect. I need police to arrest him
Saudi Arabia is the real life Engitopia and their their Leaders are really just Matt sitting at a computer.
Mystery solved?
Architects: builds simple things
Matt: *makes the most crazy unusual things with no meaning and makes things that have no reason to exist for no reason at all just to avoid being an architect*
All those Saudi Arabia projects are from people worse than architects: rich people who think they know stuff when they don't. "Ooh! Let's make a building that's just a big line cutting through the desert!" or "ooh! Let's make a big cube the size of 24 Empire States that's mostly hollow inside!" or "ooh! Let's make an octagon city where half of it is on the water because it looks cool!"
Dziękujemy.
1:52 my man sounding like Jeremy Clarkson 😂
I had no idea they were actually going to build the line. I thought it was purely architect fever dreams
This is your best recreation yet, wow! Awesome job demonstrating forward thinking design (even if you do so with the assumption of god-like powers).
I love this channel for literally no reason
If Matt did this city realistic like no weird higways or no poo power and gave them more services this city would be best city
So happy for a new Cities Skyline video.
Matt, disaster response units are under the fire fighter tab, there’s an icon with with a meteor that leads you to structures built for natural disasters.
0:40 I guess they haven't heard about the London On-Bridge Towns...
or the fictional problem in Final Fantasy X and floating cities lmao
dude, engineering?! that $h*t is pure architecture! (just because you can, doesn't mean you should)
Day 179:Dear Matt,
I have a very good video idea
Gather all your editors and make them all have a fight on like a PvP game (e.g. Minecraft,Rust,Ect,ect...) And see who is the best editor and is worthy of the rank of a classified engineering. From me.

Day 179????
OMG I can't wait to watch the Saudi's fail at this in real life
You know he's cultured when he mentions CGP Grey
finally somebody mentioned this
''a fine addition to engitopia'' - RCE
''a fine addition to my collection'' - general grievious
In real life, it's not all going to be level with the water it will be raised up or slightly graded to have an incline with drainage that either runs into the water slightly above water level or to storm drains deverting water somewhere else but realistically probably both type of drainage systems will be used to prevent flooding in heavy rains. Great video. You need boat rides down poop mountain lol
It does me proud to see one of those silly roundabouts replaced with a proper clover leaf.
RCE:here is the building plans
The Boss: We’re gonna need some more money

19:20 Nah, only lightsabers are.
After years I finally got City Skylines on Ps4. And quickly realized watching your videos is much more fun.
Very happy to see cityskyline video 😊😊
When I say that I screamed and chucked my phone when Engitopia disappeared and was replaced with google maps showing the roundabout next to my house 😂😮 I had no idea you worked on the A303 problem section, so for a minute before you were explaining, it was just a jumpscare.
At least now I know who to blame next time I go a mile on the A303 to see my friend and it takes me 45 minutes 😡
hmmm saudi building a floating city when sea level is slowly rising.. the CITY SHALL RISE
That like second of shooting stars with that car going on the intersection took me back wow 18:19
I think RCE needs to look at those pictures of the Oxagon again. Despite sounding like a octagon, it is indeed displayed as a hexagon (the bestagon)
I think you need to look at those pictures again actually 😂
@@RealCivilEngineerGaming
Honestly you can say both opinions are correct. The main two on the NEOM project website seem to show hexagons while the more technical drawings show octagons. Both types were shown in your video.
@@Bu11etSp0ng3 Nope, I really think you need to take a closer look lol. Every image on the official site (and everywhere else I've seen) has 8 sides- look carefully!
2:30 Do seas have edges? What are inland seas Matt? Such an architect. 😂
Hey RCE here is a city skylines thing to test. Use the canal tool in the landscape section to make a trench under the ocean. Then place water pumps on the canal. Theory is they work even completely submerged
15:27 fusion plants use hydrogen, mainly deuterium (Hydrogen 2) so it makes sense
Yes. Seas have edges just as oceans do, but oceans have much larger borders than seas because a sea is a smaller inland ocean.
i really like seeing that screenshot... hexagons are indeed the bestagons.
just imagine an earthquake & tsunami, I'm pretty sure the floating part would land on the rest of the city causing the most destruction possible.
in real life, not the game
as someone who drives stonehenge a303 A LOT as i live nearby, that roundabout isnt the problem, its the fact you have a dual carriageway merging down to 1 lane just before one of the most viewed things in the area and you get people slowing down to just stare at it causing traffic to back up alllll the way back to the roundabout, if that dual carriage way carried on all the way to the next roundabout there'd be zero issues but for some reason they thought a tunnel would be better and of course this pissed off the hippies
Matt not realizing that city planning is just large scale architecture:
RCE really exists to torture test all of these architectural dreams with all of the destructive power of a civil engineer, which is quite considerable. He is the engineer to pay to find all the problems with your model so you can fix them 😂
I'm sorry, but did I just see... architecture?
The Oxagon is far too aesthetically pleasing to be engineering...
But all jokes aside, I love these daily uploads. Keep the hard work up.
Disaster response? Nah, thoughts and prayers will do.
«And steam coming out of the nuts» that killed me🤣!
why do i feel like this would've been 100x easier if he just loaded up a new map xD
But weres the fun in that oneday engitopia will be prosperous with all these builds that he is doing that 1 million debt could become a 1 million positieve
Hexagons are the Bestagons!
Wait. Wait.
Saudi Arabia looked at the massive failures of the UAE’s projects, and the complete disaster that is China’s mega projects, and they said “Hold my beer?”
I guess it’s good times of you can get paid to build it all. I wouldn’t want to live in either place, though.
Something is rising, look like a new round of `build the biggest failure of all time` in new package!
That's why I like to joke about NEOM... that company is named after the sound of their getaway plane with all that rich tyrant money they're taking.
following Engineering news, you hear of cities
following Architecture news, you hear the Octagon and Line
It is safe to predict this video will be more successful than any of those projects in Saudi Arabia.
“I’m going to build on the flood lands” most house company’s nowadays
Insurance? You wont need it, where we going!
Considering the impressive improvement in the quality of Matt's poop chute design, he definitely needs to redo that new cloverleaf. On a related note, I hope Matt names the highway going by the new poop chute Proctology Way... it only seems appropriate. 😁
Learning about your job always fascinates me
Floating city has me thinking, for another weird form of city to try you could pull inspiration from Arknights' mobile cities and landships
Last time it didnt go well, props to Hindenburg.
Is it realistic? No
Do it make sense? No
Is it practical? No
Is it interesting to look at? Yes
Well, that is reason to keep it in Cities Skylines, you can make just anything! But unfortunately dictators with big money love all kinds of nonsense.
@@alexturnbackthearmy1907 The worst things Bin Salman (of Saudi Arabia) does are with the full support and backing of the USA. The Yemeni Holocaust, for example.
palm islands worked for the uae. just sayin...
as a civil engineering undergrad, highway engineering may be the most boring sub discipline of civil
I know it's an older video... but in regards to the flaw of the clover leaf highway... recently a major section of main road and highway near me was changed. They went from the standard clover leaf to a helix. The main road crosses traffic, so at one point the west bound traffic is on the side the east bound usually is on then crosses back. This allows the on and off ramps of the highway to flow into the main road more efficiently and it also cuts the congestion of oncoming traffic having to cross, on the highway, the traffic trying to exit to the main road. It's cut down on congestion by a massive margin so it might be something to look into for the future.
It seems that line city and also hexagon city are products of "ideas" of architects
100% architecture, 0% engineering
18:19 architect driving skills be like
I have more faith in Matt making this idea work in Cities Skilines without it going horribly wrong than on those Oil Barons being able to build the thing in real life and that's saying something.
Great video, as always! also S-tier sound design, tell you audio person they did a great job!
The hexagon may be the bestagon, but it lacks the 8 fantastic sides and 8 awesome angles of an octagon!
_hexagon is just six triangles_ (but you can't make a pattern with just octagons, you need squares I think)
You should change it to ‘so I made it first!’
Since the lake only has a way for water to get in, it will eventually overfill. He needs to make a drain to the edge of the map.
"this would never work in real life"
Matt is really one to be talking.
I love when you tubers mention other GOOD you tubers that have interesting videos.
A geometry teacher and a city planner walk into a bar...
do I hear Jack Black yell "Octagon!" in the distance?!
For people who keep claiming that the sea level is rising, they build and buy quite a lot o f things near to the sea.

The line! Lololol.😂 I can't wait for the failed mega project documentery about that in 5 years time🤣🤣🤣
WHY ARE YOU EXCITED?!? THESE PROJECTS ARE NOT LOGICAL!! THEY WERE MADE BY ARCHITECTS (TO LOOK COOL, NOT PRATICAL)
Dude, isnt it build next to a 20km high mountain filled with poo? Those ideas are so silly, yet so fun to think about all their struggle to build just about anything and keep feeding people with promises for next 20 years... Not so fun actualy.
I think in earlier videos he pointed out how bad they are and even in this video he subtly hints at the horrible designs. He's excited to try and build them.
I just finished reacreating the oxagon and then i see this video😂 really good work though
I swear, at this point I am convinced Saudi Arabia is just playing 'Mythbusters City Skylines: IRL edition'.
