    Question: What footage to you guys prefer? GoPro? or insta360 (like in this video) Any particulate angle? Talking? No talking? Music? No wrong answers.. just interested!

      360 (if you can get a longer extension it's even better, also if you don't tighten the mount so much it will rotate on it's own). Talking!!! do you use a mic/recorder or is it straight from the camera?? No music or really subtle in the background, priority for clear voice.

    Well NOT an epic session at all.. too small really for Paternoster. But it can be a really nice spot in the right conditions.
    This was another video I wasn't going to upload. But maybe a few of you out there find it interesting.

    Hi Ben. Even if conditions are light and not epic, this is a very useful video indeed, 'cause it shows the basic technique to catch waves and get the most out of the worst. Thank you so much. I appreciate that!!!

      Thanks for the comment.. and yeah, that's the feedback I've been getting. So I think I'll carry on putting on the raw POV sessions 👍

    Bonjour Ben 😉 Your videos are very cool, we appreciate what you tell 😄 it's interesting to have info about accessories, your cameras, the weather, the atmosphere, the spot and your gear... It's a lot of work so thank you for showing us good times behind our screens ☀️🌊🔥😎 Aloha from Dominique and me (Dejan) from Swiss Alps 🤙🏼

    Always fun! The raw footage is more enjoyable than 100 clips crammed into one burst. Well not always but enjoying these.

    I took Antoine Albeau here in 1995 when we were about to get chucked out of Swartriet. We had a great time but we had more wind and we went further down the beach where the wind was less offshore and waves where bigger.

      Learning to Float and Ride is an amazing skill. Im learning Slowly at muizenburg (Capetown) in a SW the Wave is usual small and soft and wind light. I would love to see some Videos on how to properly gybe in no wind without falling in all the time ( the more I swim the less time I have to sail becasuse I get so tired) I can see from your foot work in the video but cant tell Body position on the insta 360. in 8 to 15 knt I'll use a 5.2. so pointers on how not to fall in. and how you waterstart when the wind barely lifts the sail. Thanks Ben

    nice vid. Paternoster is more a myth than reality. From going up 1 out 5-8 times it is good. But very often, it is just not working as expected. My good sessions there in the last 10 Years are about a hand full I would say.

    Nice Ben - good to see what you can do in light winds - do you prefer doing a quick gybe rather than tacking when it's light?

    • @Ben-Proffitt
      @Ben-Proffitt  10 месяцев назад

      Well I tend to mix it up a bit.. but looking at the videos maybe I gybe more. But depends on the spot and my needs..

    Entertaining video, Ben! Quick one: Does it matter where the camera lens points at when you set it up on the mast or is there a "preferred" way?

    • @Ben-Proffitt
      @Ben-Proffitt  10 месяцев назад +1

      I mostly have it pointing forward.. but it depends what shot I want to get. Ido move it around a bit.

      @Ben-Proffitt  10 месяцев назад

      Well ill be honest.. windsurfing I have never seen one and don't really think about it. Surfing? Well that's a different matter!

    • @AdrianTregoning
      @AdrianTregoning 10 месяцев назад

      If you go early there is always a chance to see a shark. I've seen at least 30 in the last 15 years or so but also spent tons of time sailing alone - as I lived on the beach at Lagoon Beach. Once 3 or 4 guys are on the water any shark will move off. Only once have I see a shark when the water was busy. No worries with them anyway they are never a concern. Great whites leave an area once the water is below 14 degrees as per Dr. Alison Kock of Shark Spotters, and when it's SE, as it is in summer, the western side is almost always below 14. I'd be more worried about hitting whales.

    I was chased there by angry local mob (fisherman?) there in 2022 when i was about to rig my sail. Happened to me there one time before like 2017 something. Last year there was no problem maybe they were all in prison.
