I was just listening to that while doing the dishes , without even watching. Still enjoyed it. I guess you could read me a phonebook and I would still listen.
10:55, I thought you might demonstrate hitting kelp. Next time Please keep doing these. Time just flies by watching and listening. I personally really dislike Big Bay. It was nice in the early 2000's with just the ice cream shop and plenty lawn, and parking... If the wind is very northerly in winter it works on a NW at low tide. High tide is truly terrible with the wash coming around from Karmers in that NW wind. But most people on your channel won't be at Big Bay in winter.
Big Bay is somehow my second home. I too remember the days when it was just a sandy field car park, and with a cafe - the SurfRider cafe - that mostly served chips and toasted sandwiches to the surfers. It sounds like you've had a bad season for wind in Cape Town in summer 2023/2024, but the Big Bay wind is also affected by heat rising off the roofs of all the houses they built - so the Southeaster wind flow is disrupted when the sun is overhead, and the stronger or nukin' breeze only pulls through once the sun is lower, and starting to set in the west.
Man, love this. You're making it look soo easy. I was out last on a 6.7 and 115 dyno, in tiny waves and was happy to get a few rides here and there or have a gust big enough to plane. Absolute struggle session. Looks like a great spot down there!
love these vids, what is the gybe you keep doing? non planing and holding on clew first but turning around on a dime....can you tell us about it and take us through it...?
also...tack...dont need to do them wit the turning circle you are doing for non planing gybes? you seem to do them on the spot, hold clew first and then ready flip the sail
hi from greece always have fun ben. i m thinking of buyig the same board flywave 85 but i am between flywave and quantex. what is your opinon witch one its better for european conditions? i m 73 kilos wave sailor. thank you in advance
Well it’s my Big board here in Cape Town. I have a 78 and a 85. So this session I was just saying I was taking my big board.. just to give you an idea that the wind is lighter than usual. I have bugger boards at home in Portugal. Even a 99
The UK and other places we don't have sharks, we have been conditioned on JAWS and documentaries about fat ass fish with rows of sharp teeth, so I am genuinely interested on the mindset when going out on the water. is it; whatever happens happens; gets some balls or how does it work?
@@Ben-Proffitt really if you think about Cape Town you think about tropical conditions like Bonaire . Went there for a month in januari. Thanks for the info..now i know.
The commentary works well, Ben but you look under-powered most of the time. Either you've put on some pounds or you're not paying attention to Brownzinio etc who now use 85 litres as standard instead of the old school 78....
This video is so entartaining from the beginning to the end. And Ben thank you for the commentary of the last windsurf event at the Canary islands
Love your sailing videos. Great promotion of Cape Town. Good seeing you Euros coming to visit us
You are incredible! Always with smile! Great Ben!

These are awesome. It's super helpful for me to watch unedited sailing. Starting my third season this month. Thanks for the stoke Ben!
Great video, so fun to hear you chat away!!!
Awesome with these videos.. Your live commentary makes it fun to watch 😅 thx Ben
Nice video again Ben. Love to look at them🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻

this is great, love the live commentary
Oh man! Miss that place! Have not been since the 2014 Red Bull KOTA! Dang, 10 years already!
Thx Ben!
Really enjoyed that Ben. Not a fan of the fish-eye view of the camera. Is there a way of fixing that or is it just because of the wide angle?
Yep the camera angles can be changed after the session. Maybe I had it too wide when I edited this session.

Nice session!!! What is your body weight for this gear setup? Thanks 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻

You know someones living in a bubble when 85L is the big board. Come on!

@@Ben-Proffitt So is that a Simmer Bugger board or just a Bugger board for stuffed up conditions🤣
Moin Ben
😁
there is no wind
hate to go on....also...big fat south african chompers of great white sharks.......talk about that pls?
Yes of course we have sharks. This is Africa. We have not wiped out all life like in most other parts of the world. This is how it should be.

Dude are you afraid to get a tan...always wearing a suit. Or is it to protect you from getting a sunburn 😂
You felt the water in Cape Town!! It’s not warm!! 😂
