Technical videos are very useful. I'm sure I'm not 'flying' enough and should adapt my technique and gear settings. Thanks Nils.
Glad you liked it, thanks for the feedback :)
I'd like to see more technique & technical videos too
Good explanation Nils. Last season I’ve been aiming for more lift with all parts you mentioned. I should have increased boom hight years ago… 😂🏄♂️🤙
Great explanation, thanks
This was very good. Thx
Awesome explanation
Thanks Nils
I love this one Nils! great explanation. Txs
thank you for this very interesting video. I've appreciated it very much
Many thanks Nils, great explanation. Lots to consider in gear set up - that should keep me busy for a while!
Brilliant video, understandable for my kids and still useful and intersting for me....thx a lot!
Das Video muss man schon liken bevor man es gesehen hat.
I love your video, it is the shortest and most precise explanation I ever heard. Not just theory but a lot of testing with fins. I theoretically agree with you but never had enough money and fins to test like you did
Excellent synopsis Nils. Gives me an idea for a semi redundant fin which includes a sander. Thanks.
Super interesting overview. I have been playing with boom height over the last couple of weeks. Wow what a difference in power and control by having it up 3cm more than I used to ride.
My coach told me to tilt the board a bit inward to create additional lift. At the time I did not understand the reason. Thank you for answering that.
Thanks, super good video, especially for us who want more in depth understanding on windsurfing stuff!
glad you enjoyed the video :)
One minute in and I'm like, Nils is in the Matrix!! ;) but seriously, great explanation, thanks :)
haha, I guess I went a bit overboard with the greenscreening and backgrounds 😅
Nils I’ve bought a point-7 ac1 7.8 sail and I’ve rigged it with rrd mast 100% carbon.
I went on the water for the first time and the cambers were very hard to turn, I had to push them in every jibe by hands, any tips for smoother turn? Or it’s just incompatible? Have you ever used a different brad for sails and masts?
By the way great advice as always,
Keep it up🤙🤙
Great explanation Nils. Not trying to be that person, but I think for confused Venturi effect with Bernoulli effect.
The Venturi effect is simply the drop in wind pressure when it passes through a confined section
Great video Nils, im a 67kg rider and ive heard that modern windsurfer boards are designed for people 85kg so at my weight the board doesnt seem to work well with normal mast base position or normal strap positions, i have my straps all the way back and tend to run the mast base along way back to get the board flying but its a fine line sometimes the board then flys away, any advice for lightweight riders to go faster? cheers
Techno 293 surfer here, we use this all the time. Its a little different cause we use it on the sharp upwind . Still very useful
i need someone to teach me that, failed miserably at railing a raceboard upwind 😅
@@WindsurfingNils on a T293 board or a regular board (not sure if it's slalom) the Techno board has another big fin in the middle that's retractable. Not sure how it works on other boards upwind.
Great video, Nils.
0:34 "the area of board in contact with the water" . Das nennen wir "the wetted area" 🙂
yes you're right of course, sometimes when talking to the camera you forget some words ;)
Schade.
HI, stimmt, danke, sollte jetzt wieder funktionieren :)
Hi! Is this achievable with fsw and wave board? Thanks :)
The theory is the same for all windsurf in planing condition.
But in wave you don't ride so much on the fin(s), you have much more board in the water.
But try it!
Yes, agree with Niclas, theory is the same but the gear is not aimed to ride as freely here
with a single fin it is possible with multi fins not. The reason for this is that a longer fin creates a higher leverage. Therefore it is so simple with the long slalom fins.
Danke Niels, Grüße aus Laredo Kantabrien
Grüße 🖐
The cats gone to sleep on you're tech talk
Interesting ,2hats you're best speed realtime and as well GPS speed Perry 🌍🔱🏆🤟😎🖕😁
venturi effect? for sure not.
Why? 🤔
@@WindsurfingNils because this an effect that happens in pipes. Check Wikipedia. The fin generates lift like an airfoil does. That simple.
ok. so you basically cheat your way into foiling.
