@@Gtech-ny5rd Sure but what percentage of ZV-E10 or similar low budget camera users actually shoot in log format in order to pull dynamic range and exposure? The image out of the ZV-E10 trounces anything with a smaller sensor, even my Pocket 3 (I have a recent video comparing the two). I do wish Sony would provide a firmware update for the ZV-E10 with at least better/newer color profiles. It always seems to put a green tint on skin tones. I doubt that will happen though. The new menu system would also be nice!
The iPhone 15 Pro can be supercharged if you buy the Beastgrip Pro and their DLSR lens mount adapter that allows you to use full frame EF mount lenses on your phone. When used with an iPhone 15 or Galaxy S23 and recording in log/raw you have a pretty serious little cinema camera.
@munthohar8963 The depth of field isn't less capable because of smaller sensor, it's because of the tiny lens used on smartphones. You can easily achieve excellent bokeh blur/depth of field with a small sensor so long as you use the appropriate lens (something that MFT photographers know about) which is why using the Beastgrip Pro and full frame lens adapter will give you excellent results. Just search for Beastgrip DOF MK3 adapter, you'll see for yourself. Also, smartphones are getting better and better in low light performance every year as some of them use big 1 inch sensors or use double stacked sensors effectively doubling low light performance. For example a Galaxy S23 Ultra has better low light performance than my Canon T5i with an APS-C sensor using a f2.8 lens. A lot of people don't want to admit that phones are catching up to "real cameras", but the truth is in some ways smartphones have already surpassed them. A $600 smartphone has a lot more processing power than a $4,000 camera and they're also several years ahead in the implementation of AI enhancements and corrections. Dedicated cameras will always have their place but a modern smartphone with a good lens kit is good enough for most amateur cinematographers, content creators, and youtubers. If you already spent $1200 on a high end phone, might as well repurpose it to be a pretty cool cinema rig and save money in the process. Unless you're a professional that shoots for high end clients you really don't need an expensive dedicated camera.
Shooting in ProRes with the iPhone absolutely ruins any realistic comparison. No one is going to shoot ProRes in iPhone. It's a ridiculous file format for a phone that doesn't have external storage.

I'd love to be able to just shoot from a normal Camera like this.

haha have you taken my camera "Which Camera Should I Buy" course or free camera quiz yet? They should definitely help you. I have both linked in my latest video.
Good informative video. 👍 I watched through all the ZV1 / mk2 /F /e10 videos, as I've been looking at replacing the Iphone for shooting some videos. I shoot in a workshop, so there's low light situations, confined spaces where the iphone is fully zoomed out, and a lot of sparks from welding etc. How would one of the sony cameras handle that? It is important to me that I can zoom out almost as much as the Iphone, but I also need to use uv filters as disposable lens protection, as welding sparks embed themself into the lens quite easily. Also filming inside wheelhouses and under the car is low light and wide angle. So this leaves me with a question of which ones of the sony cameras I should pick? e10 for replaceable lenses? (I also do some urban photography, and film some motorsport) zv1-f for small size and disposable filters? is there a way to protect the lens on a mk2?
Thank you for that. Thats actually a great question. I created a camera quiz to help you figure out which camera is best for what you are using it for. Have you taken it yet?
Have you ever tried the osmo Pocket 3? I find it to have truly unique and spectacular specs of its kind and for that size and price D-log 10 bit in 4K 120P, one inch sensor with incredible low light performance. Hi great video. I have the Sony ZV mark 2 Does the newer 18mm wide lens fit the Zv mark 2? Also if you recommend a different wide lens which one? Thanks
THANK YOU!!! All these other videos usually tell me I have to do slog or other profiles to obtain results like yours… I do see the value of the other profiles but a a beginners it’s great seeing a video like this!

You also get the ZV-E10 for a great price here in Germany at the moment: 549€ for the ZV-E10 plus kit lens plus SD card plus camera bag. Less than half the price of an iPhone!
This is first video I feel you were economical with fairness. Not to shoot in Apple Log is unfair given the camera you are comparing. The iPhone already has one arm behind its back not having the lens choice and a smaller sensor. It felt to me you were compromised by the loan of lenses. Warmly meant, I stopped watching when it was not a fair comparison using both cameras strength. Still a fan but slightly concerned with your direction.
Thank you for your honest and frank concern. I was more or less creating this video for someone who is a beginner and would like to pull them out of box and start shooting. The different lenses was intended to be a part of said beginners options. If you stopped watching how did you know I didn’t speak about ProRes log?
Your way of testing is way off. That add on lens is not showing the phone justice. Just get a ND (filmic pro or BMC) and log. That’s the only way to compare. The colors are all off too. This isn’t a good video to show the potential of the phone. I know this is aimed for beginners yet the iPhone can punch way above the example work shown on the video.
Man, ain't spending on budget cameras while i have a good phone already, saving up for sony a7iv, I'm using Xiaomi 13 ultra at the moment (one inch goodness) Now you might say phones have lower details, but does it really? Motioncam lets me shoot RAW VIDEO at 4k30 in cinemaDNG, should be good enough.
Amazing how bad the phone is. They market megapixels and video modes to make it look like they are a viable choice. The reality is that the phone is no better than they were years ago. The phone just gives a plastic look that looks terrible. Good for family memories, but the ZV-E10, despite its many limitations, is way better than the phone for most content creation.
There were unfounded rumors about a new version in summer, but no confirmation whatsoever by Sony. But even if there should come a new version next year, you can always sell it for ~80% of purchase price.
Search for Beastgrip DOF MK3 adapter. It completely changes the game for smartphone camera users as it allows you to attach full frame lenses onto your phone to achieve professional looking photos and videos.
Any camera is good if you have some editing skills. You can have a 10 k dollars camera and still have mediocre footage if you don’t know what you’re doing.
I have been using my e10 for nearly a year and here is what I have to say about it lets start from the worst thing. 1. Stabilization - It's awful, micro jitters and distorting bending image with the slightest of movement. I run everything through catalyst browse and that means I need to use 4k and I have a wide angle lens 16mm sigma 1.4. However. This will make you a better camera person the limitations will make you more creative. 2. Battery - It doesn't last very long which can limit how often you have your camera on and you will miss out on a lot of shots. However I believe all dedicated cameras can suffer from this. 3. Yeah that's it. This camera is great and you will grow with it, you will not grow with the iphone so much. You can remedy the two major negatives somewhat with a lens with stabilization or by adding a cage to the e10 and putting 1kg of weight on it as a ballast. Also you could run an external battery on that cage and now your shooting all day, get a huge battery and that can become your ballast.
I know what you mean. I recently released that The ZV-E10 is made more for hand-held (still) filming or headshots. Not walking with it. What do you think?
@@thefilmalliance I think it is actually the best for handheld because it's so terrible! Maybe because you have to get creative to get around it, which means you will make a more meaningful video. You could make a balanced cinema rig for it showing that you understand balance and damping. You cannot afford to develop bad habits when using it. And you have to consider post editing more like if you are going to have enough in your frame after you run it through Catalyst browse etc. And then I guess if you get something better you would of earnt it and appreciate it more.
There is no comparation here, even in prores the iphone lack the obtival qualities that good glass provides, you can get a 10 year old camera with good glass and proper lighting and will look better than your iphone 15 pro plus giga whatever
off course the Zve10 is better , cause it's a Camera. The iPhone is a mobile phone and can do a lot of things that a camera can't, but again is not a Camera.
I can't help myself. In absolute all compares, the iPhone makes a waaaay better video. It is sharper, lighter, much more details due to the higher dynamic range, the video is absolute smooth (where the Sony is shaky like a earthquake), I don't know why the heck I should use a Sony or a DSLR Camera with obsolete technology. Bokeh effect? Yeah, there are lenses for it and it's just a question of composition settings :) even without LiDAR and Portrait/Cinema mode. And also I don't agree that the iPhone limits your creativity - HELLOOOO there are limitless Apps with limitless creative ways to shoot videos. Show me a DSLR where you can install Apps or extend the firmware with new functions. My Nikon DSLR has 10 creative modes, that's it, and the highlight is tilt-shift (wow, thats really sad). So my both DSLRs are catching dust for years.
All very true. One of my go-to’s is to just dive into this stuff, figure it out, and then share it with you. Free Apps usually come with bugs. I would go with the paid plan if you really want to maximize the camera

THANK YOU!!! All these other videos usually tell me I have to do slog or other profiles to obtain results like yours… I do see the value of the other profiles but a a beginners it’s great seeing a video like this!
iphone was not even close. I would go with the camera instead of phone.
I can see what your saying. I believe both cameras are good for different situations.
What are you even talking about mate? Is there a chance you are blind? IPhone completely devastated sony.
@@LincandoubtyouiPhone light is artificial and unnatural, normal people like you can't even see the difference
Then why not increase the iso, and see who gonna suffer from noise image
Un possessore di una fotocamera non direbbe mai che uno smartphone vince il confronto.. x me questo iPhone pro Max in proress log semplicemente mostruoso
which has better audio?
I believe I tested that out, but can’t remember. I think it’s in the video somewhere
zve 10 iso 1600 is completely usable
Sigma 30mm😮
Did you notice any motion blur issues with the iPhone increasing shutter speed in broad daylight?
Yes, this happens natively and there’s nothing you can do about it other than purchasing an external ND filter
why iphone has much brighter and greater color than zve10
Great comparison. But basic iPhone 15 pro in Europe is 1,219 eur. Not 911 eur. That's a big difference.
Really? I used a currency converter
You also get the ZV-E10 for a great price here in Germany at the moment: 549€ for the ZV-E10 plus kit lens plus SD card plus camera bag. Less than half the price of an iPhone!
Can't Add Storage to the iPhone without Otg, & Lens Limitations although lens mods exists for the iPhone..
Sony Zv E10 for the win.
True. What is your favorite camera so far?
Have you tested skin tones of Black and Brown folks?
Yes, coming out in next video. A6700 vs ZVe10. Should be out on Friday
Супер!!! Класный подробный обзор 👍🙏Благодарю!
Thanks for all of the support. Do you shoot professionally or as a hobby?
you can record on a ssd with the 15 pro
Yes I mentioned that later in the video
ufff that setup for the shot in the beginning???? so nice!
Thank you, I love getting those opening shots. They take a lot of thought.
Man, ain't spending on budget cameras while i have a good phone already, saving up for sony a7iv,
I'm using Xiaomi 13 ultra at the moment (one inch goodness)
Now you might say phones have lower details, but does it really?
Motioncam lets me shoot RAW VIDEO at 4k30 in cinemaDNG, should be good enough.
Sounds good. Do you shoot professionally or as a hobby?
@@thefilmalliance hobby mate, although i do intent to do film professionally later on l. 😅
@@thefilmalliance oh one thing though, the bit rate is a bit problematic, 2000+ mbits/s....
I prefer the Sony camera, because there is better contrast and better light management.
Perfectly said. I think it all depends on the user and what they’re using it for.
I really love the camera quality with lenses but the price will stack up 😔
In here zv-e10 + sigma 18-50mm f2.8 $1250, but iphone 15 pro 128gb $1300.
I think zv-e10 is way better investment.
I think it all depends on the user and what they’re using it for.
If u know what you’re looking for, its very easy to tell the difference
Amazing how bad the phone is. They market megapixels and video modes to make it look like they are a viable choice.
The reality is that the phone is no better than they were years ago. The phone just gives a plastic look that looks terrible. Good for family memories, but the ZV-E10, despite its many limitations, is way better than the phone for most content creation.
I have read rumors about zv e10 mark II or zv e20. Do you think this is possible? I'm afraid that if I buy zv e10 now I will miss out.
I haven’t heard anything about that
@@thefilmalliance oh thank
There were unfounded rumors about a new version in summer, but no confirmation whatsoever by Sony. But even if there should come a new version next year, you can always sell it for ~80% of purchase price.
Viltrox 75mm 1.2 is 600€ in Europe. 🤷🏽♂️
Ty
Sigma 30mm 1.4 is 355€ in Europe.
Thank you!
Phone still still phone footage, we can’t get like what cameras do that’s something we get if we have phone.
True, but those Freewell external lenses for the iPhone do a pretty good job I have to say.
Search for Beastgrip DOF MK3 adapter. It completely changes the game for smartphone camera users as it allows you to attach full frame lenses onto your phone to achieve professional looking photos and videos.
14:15 that looks very noisy
Yes I agree
Any camera is good if you have some editing skills. You can have a 10 k dollars camera and still have mediocre footage if you don’t know what you’re doing.
This is a good point
I buy second zv-e10 for 3rd angle, so... :D
Good call. What lenses?
use Sony Monitor & Control, and you got the perfect setup.
That's a great point. You can combine these 2
yeh i do with my fx30 and ipad pro, great for when your filming yourself. @@thefilmalliance
Nice bro
מסקנה?
Yes there is
With all that said, which are you more likely to be carrying when that one in a million shot comes along? Hint, its not the ZV-E10....
This is a good point
Súper pro as always but iPhone pro15 in EU is 1219€ 😂
There is no comparation here, even in prores the iphone lack the obtival qualities that good glass provides, you can get a 10 year old camera with good glass and proper lighting and will look better than your iphone 15 pro plus giga whatever
But what about stabilization?
off course the Zve10 is better , cause it's a Camera. The iPhone is a mobile phone and can do a lot of things that a camera can't, but again is not a Camera.
Honestly not fair... Sony came with 10k$ lenses but apple just come naaked 😂
Have you seen my freewell lens video for the iPhone? That clothed it up a bit
❤
omegapuzzo
Dialogue by Apple.
What do you mean?
@thefilmalliance It sounds a lot like an apple event, especially at the beginning ...to me anyway..I've watched a few of your reviews and was quite impressed.
Too much of your face. You must be in love with yourself.
LOL , smartphones can never be comparable to mirrorless cameras unless smartphone companies start manufacturing prime and zoom lenses with different focal lengths and apertures 😂 ..
After watching this vidio..I am going to buy Zv E10.Great way of explaining with situations...In this 18 min The photocomparison part was missing..But great vidio loved it❤
