I like when I can sort of figure out how the mangling of a lyric happened through multiple translations: "I never should have brought up Bruno" probably turned into something like "I never should have raised Bruno", which then became "I never should give birth to Bruno".

Me, mumbling in a corner: this could be because of Norwegians mostly using gender neutral words about our partners and “boyfriend/girlfriend”, as well as “dearest” usually being translated into “kjæreste” (“kjær” means dear/important/precious and “este” is an ending that basically means “most”)… some other languages do the same, but GT just picks a gender when trying to translate neutral words into gendered words…

I think the translation in this song is closer to the original because the languages used are more common. They'd have to be. Disney wants this movie to reach as big an audience as possible.

Me, mumbling in a corner: this could be because of Norwegians mostly using gender neutral words about our partners and “boyfriend/girlfriend”, as well as “dearest” usually being translated into “kjæreste” (“kjær” means dear/important/precious and “este” is an ending that basically means “most”)… some other languages do the same, but GT just picks a gender when trying to translate neutral words into gendered words…

Is it just me, or is Google Translate getting much better? Sure, there was still lots of silly nonsense, but more of it seems to be at least in the right general territory than was typical with the older translated songs.

I think the translation in this song is closer to the original because the languages used are more common. They'd have to be. Disney wants this movie to reach as big an audience as possible.
